    Matt, thank you for this clear explanation. Copied your settings this morning (EU/Netherlands) and managed to see and catch a couple of nice Zanders.👍

    Hey Matt, I've watched your video like 4 more times, very well done and learned more each time. I have my solix setting beside my laptop running in simulation mode and, again, your video is very helpful. The Solix OS is a bit different though so I need to reconcile the differences in the Helix, for instance I really like the Range Lines the Helix has but haven't found it on the Solix yet but will keep researching. Again, many thanks for your time and effort putting the video together and sharing your experiences, I really appreciate it!!

      I will take a look at a Solix in the morning and see if I can run through the settings

      Rick, go to your mega live screen, hit the menu button (3 little lines button on right), then on the screen the Sonar options will appear on the left, then select overlay and check the box with range grid.

    Hey Matt, great job on the video, really appreciate you sharing your time, research and experience!
    One question, I believe you mentioned '360 experience' but I didn't see a 360 mounted on your boat, perhaps I misunderstood you or just didn't see the 360. Could you help me understand that part, please?

    • @BeardedBassBrawler
      @BeardedBassBrawler  Před 2 lety

      Yeah so I do have a 360 mounted right above the megaLive as does my buddy and it seems like when the 360 is turned on it puts ping rings on the megaLive. My guess is because the frequencies don’t match up and the megaLive is at a higher frequency it is picking up the 360. This seems to be a common issue among people running both the 360 and mega live together.

    Hopefully in the next update they figure out how to fix the distortion from the mega 360. Did you install a toggle on/off switch for your mega live? I know that is something that they suggest. I have one of my 360 and plan on putting one on for my live as well.

    I understand that down is at 0 degrees and forward is at 40 degrees. Did you by chance play with moving the transducer up or down from these standard settings to see if you were able to see your lure better if you were vertical fishing vs. more horizontal fishing?

    • @BeardedBassBrawler
      @BeardedBassBrawler  Před 2 lety

      I didn’t play to much with it. In the forward view I started at 20 degrees but noticed I had to move the physical transducer since I had it in the wrong notch. One I did that and moved to the 40 degree setting it worked a lot better. I never really experimented in down to much.

    You fish for musky? You mentioned the moon. I am big time! I am looking to get the Ultrex Quest with a Helix 9 on the bow, and a 7 on the console. I am really hung up on the transducer aspect in relation to the TM. If I am fishing shore lines, going along contours, with the transducer on the TM, does the image "zig zag" in and out, as you navigate the TM? I am really turned on by the foward feature, and want to see the lure come in, with Mr. Musky following it! Thanks for any info, or from any other users!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @BeardedBassBrawler

      So since you’re gonna be running humminbirds, you’re gonna want to get the quest with the built-in transducer for hummingbirds basically the MDI. So anything that transducer goes over the top of that’s what you’re gonna be seeing underneath the boat so if you zigzag the boat in and out, yes, that is correct when it comes to the forward facing sonar, if you zigzag in and out, but always keep the forward facing in one direction like a 45 to the bank you’ll always see that. That is very difficult to do when you use the trolling motor to go away from the bank because typically the transducer will be looking out deeper. If you want to constantly look at the bank, while the boat goes in and out, you need to put the transducer on a separate arm that you control manually.

    • @BeardedBassBrawler
      @BeardedBassBrawler  Před 8 měsíci

      When you have a forward facing transducer on the shaft or the trolling motor and you hit spot lock, trolling motor will constantly be turning and your forward facing sonar will look wherever the trolling motor is pointing. Hummingbird has released a new product called target lock, which is a secondary arm, allowing you to look wherever you want without influence of the direction of the trolling motor.

    • @dougmead7669
      @dougmead7669 Před 8 měsíci

      I clearly have to do some more research on this. I was trying to avoid a secondary arm, as in Mega 360, as I don't like all the extra "clutter" on the TM. I wasn't aware Target lock was a secondary arm. Thanks for the detailed explanation and reply.

      @@BeardedBassBrawler In regard to interference, I have two Interstate batteries (24V) for my trolling motor. I'm looking to add a Tracker Lithium deep cycle battery to my graphs and SI, and eventually Target Lock.
      Will the two different style batteries create any interference or any other issues to performance? Thank you!!

    • @BeardedBassBrawler
      @BeardedBassBrawler  Před 2 lety

      I do not. Try playing with your sensitivity and then on larger graphs there is a tracer effect for tracking.
