I haven't used landscape mode yet, but I will now - thank you for the video!
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. I don't use it enough. Glad you mentioned it. Gonna try it out on Guntersville.
Great Video......I recognize that boat ramp. Lanier Park Ramp!
Thanks. How often do you fish Lanier?
Man, this vid is outstanding, you've broken down this program to the basics and I appreciate you taking the time to teach not only me, but others, again just another outstanding vid.
Thanks. I know people were wondering about Mega Live landscape mode.
Thanks for posting all these videos I haven’t been able to use my mega live yet. I bought the ice fishing conversion kit so a few more weeks till I get to try it. But I’ll be using it on my boat as well in the summer so these videos are super helpful.
Thanks for supporting the channel!
Excellent video! I’m a huge fan of my Mega 360, wasn’t sure I wanted Live until I saw this video, love the comparison of the two. Also, I’ve never heard anyone talk about calibrating your equipment at the ramp where you have known structure, what a great point!
Thanks. Glad it helped. I plan on using landscape view on lakes like Guntersville to see if I can see fish in the grass. Thanks for supporting the channel.
The Mega Live isn't as good detail as the Mega 360, but occasionally you get to see fish swimming about, which is a cool way to track fish behavior. On my home lake, I was noticing the larger bass were out prowling around, and the smaller bass were holding tight to cover.
Thanks for your input. I agree the Mega Live landscape mode isn't as clear as Mega 360. I am curious to know how well it helps with identifying shallow fish in grass and rocky areas. How often do you use landscape mode?
@@MoneyBass I just tried it for a bit the first trip out. If I didn't have a mega360, I would exclusively run it in landscape, as finding exact locations of cover is my most important priority. But with the two, I pretty much just run it in forward mode now. My limited experience was offshore in 15ft of water on a point. I imagine around heavy grass it would perform like the mega 360, and only visible up to the "grass wall".
Thanks for the great video! Very informative. About to take mine out tomorrow and do just this.
Cool! Let me know how it works out. I haven't tried it since I completed the 1.170 update.
Nice informational video. Well done.
Thanks!
Another nice video Bro! You have inspired me to utilize the landscape mode next time I’m out. I didn’t plan on it with having the 360 but definitely can see how it could be useful (Example grass, rock edges etc). Thanks!
Cool! Let me know if you are able to see any fish movement whenever you use it.
@@MoneyBass will do!
Thanks for the comparison on the water! I'm on fence about new electronics. I'm a kayak angler it will b my first graph. I've been yak fishing from Hobie's for 6 yrs now. It's about time I get something! Like the Garmin ultra 106 & I think it's best bang for buck. But the solix10 with 360 set up on my PA12 would b the deal!!! I like 360 better than live myself!!!
Sounds good! Reply to Joshua B I think the comments. He is a kayak fisherman and puts out videos also. I'm sure you guys can swap information to help each other. Thanks for supporting the channel.
Love what you do
Thanks for supporting the channel.
Thanks for the video. I hope to install one day.
Thanks for supporting the channel.
Nice video mate, just like anything time on the water makes it all standout nicely.
Also, your hydro wave is mounted backwards.
Thanks for watching. The hydrowave isn't mounted backwards the bracket allows it to move. When I use it I face it towards me.
Thank you. Fun to watch.
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel.
I have a very small youtube channel called Easttexasfisherman. if you ever have time to kill check it out. I do a 5 cast challenge.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for supporting the channel!
awesome job keep up good work very educated.i hope see you catch fish while you are using depth finders down image what to look for.
Thanks for supporting the channel. I just released a video today showing fish on sonar and down scan then catching them using Mega Live. Did you get a chance to check it out?
Thanks for providing this informative video. There is t much out there about Landscape Mode at this point.
I troll for Stripers with Mega Live looking back at my trailing lures in Landscape Mode and wanted to provide one clarification. In Landscape Mode there are actually 4 Landscape Mode angle positions on the Mount. On the mount there are lines on either side of the stamped "L" and that identifies the range of settings you use for Landscape mode. There are actually 4 different click settings you can use and they angle the transducer at increasingly steeper angles. You would change this based on the bottom depth you are typically working in.
Also, I'm wondering if having persistence mode turned on had anything to do with the color pallet anomaly when you switched back and forth.
Thanks for your informative response. I will probably play around with landscape mode more once I feel I have a very good understanding of forward mode and its capabilities since that is what I will be using the majority of the time. I noticed the distortion when I went through the color palettes also. I just adjusted the settings again but didn't look further into it. Thanks for your comment.
Great info
Thanks.
@@MoneyBass Appreciate how you made that so simple. ha even for me. No it made total sense. My delima has been that my boat has been equipped with Lowrance units and I installed a Ghost TM that replaced a crappy XI5 with multiple GPS problems and I do love how that has been working. Great motor so far. So that kinda led that you would get Active target and that’s when I started wondering if that’s where I wanted to go. Been so impressed with Mega 360 and really wanted to have that capability and it seems to make sense that I would just get a Hummingbird unit that would work with the 360 and just use the Mega live. So I found a Helix 10 and have back ordered a mega live. Looks like 360 is all backordered but when its back that will be my new setup next spring when I head out next year. Already pulled boat for the year. I have to store so hard to get out anymore this year. So look forward to your helpful info on the units. Watched the comparison on 360 and mega live think was the landscape mode and taking the time to learn. That is the best advise. And yes, Fish The Moment , old subscriber , gave great info on units and differences, but I don,t see that Lowrance can touch that capability of the 360. That with Live seems to be the deal. So that will be my addition to my HDS live up front. Look forward to watching content you put out and hope you don’t mind questions some time. Lots to learn. Thanks…..
Why would you want to use landscape mode if you had 360? Would it not be more benificial to use forward facing sonar to scan a little better for fish and use the 360 for reference of structure you want to fish?
Yes, I rarely use landscape but it does allow you to see more movement from side to side. Might be good for fishing grass for instance.
Thank you for the video.
Why is it that 360 would show a tree on the left side of the boat but Live would show it on the right (opposite) side of the boat ?
Good observation, I think it had something to do with the settings. I didn't take the time to look into it any further because I haven't been using landscape mode.
Did the new update help the landscape picture
I haven't used landscape mode enough to make a determination.
Sir did you use the shielded wire when you wired up the mega live, 360 and graphs, thanks!
JP
The Mega 360 and graphs were installed at the factory. I'm hoping the would have connected them. I installed the Mega Live. I did not connect the drain line or the choke. I am going to connect the drain line today but do not plan on connecting the choke.
Would you recommend getting a separate fish finder for both or can you use the same one for both
In most cases the answer to that question is going to be based on finances. Having 2 separate big screens would be ideal in my opinion. In order to have the 360 and Mega Live on one screen I believe it requires a Solix or Apex. I prefer to have Mega Live on its own screen. I run my 360 on a 12" Helix and it is the same size on the screen whether it is on the screen by itself or if it is on a split screen. Hope that information helps. Thanks for supporting the channel.
Are you running a Ethernet hub ?
I get interference from my mega 360 to my mega live
I’m trying to resolve it
Yes, I'm running an ethernet hub with all ports filled. I was getting interference a few days ago when I was on the lake. I haven't used landscape mode enough to determine what is causing the interference. I did turn my 360 off and confirmed that it is causing interference. I will do an update once I determine how to correct the issue. Please let me know if you are able to find the solution. Thanks.
How do you prevent interference on your mega live screen from your 360 or 2D sonar transducers?
I ran 8 Guage wire fron the battery directly to its own fuse panel. The only thing connected to it is the Mega Live transducer. I'm not sure if that's what removed/reduced the interference or not.
@@MoneyBass Great video! Do you run a separate battery for your electronics or just run directly to your cranking battery?
@@ryunmiskus3468 directly to my starting battery with a perko switch.
@@MoneyBass Great, thanks. Do you turn this off when you get off the water? Just want to make sure that I don't get myself into battery trouble!
@@ryunmiskus3468 yes, I turn my perko switch on before I put in the water and turn it off after I pull the boat off. That cuts power to everything except the motor and trolling motor.
I'm sticking with 360.
Yep. If you have the 360 the only benefit I see with the Mega Live landscape mode is targeting moving fish.
Here lately it don't matter what I got...I haven't had any luck
It's been tough lately. What lakes do you fish?
@@MoneyBass russell...
@@sheaffergrubbs6056 that's one of my favorite lakes. I can find spotted bass easily. Getting good large mouth is the challenge for me in Russell.
