  • The Humminbird MegaLive mask is included with the purchase of your MegaLive. It is included to help eliminate reflection from the surface of the water especially when using settings such as 50 or 60 degrees in shallower water. The 50, 60 degree settings help improve the ability to track your bait in shallower water. The end result is a crisper and clearer image! Learn how to install the mask and check out the improvement in performance in video images from on the water. Shallower water images in frontal mode will be significantly improved utilizing the Humminbird MegaLive mask.

    Just put a live on my boat but not on the trolling motor. I made a pole to put it on and put it on the side of my boat. I usually I will be fishing mostly shallow water and wanted to know more about the mask so thank you for the explanation.

    Hi Steve I have watched a lot of your videos and I cannot get clear images at all my screen is always cluttered. In forward facing I see a small window about 15 ft outward and then a funnel shape of clutter and 1/2 circle images going across the screen. I’m a bass fisherman mostly fishing in 10/ 30 ft of water most of the time . Can you please take a moment of your time to give me some advice to clean this up so I can enjoy it while on the water. Please help with transducer angle/settings and interference. Thank you so much I’m going to watch more of your videos

      Shallower water 50 or 60 degree angle in front view, 40 degree most of your 10-30’ of water. The MegaLive choke cable can help too depending on how you rigged MegaLive.

    Thanks. I’ve been wondering about this. I use mine for ice fishing as well but I am getting tired of the lines and double image in open water fishing. I’m thinking maybe use the short one and just losing part of my cone for ice fishing or taking on and off every year if I can get more from HB. So far, most of my open water fishing has been less than 18 fow. Mostly 13-9. Might have to play with it some more. Good job

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Před 2 lety

      I debated using the short one as well. Since I use 60 degrees quite a bit, I opted for the longer one. Thanks for the kind words.

    Tks - great help! MLI newbie and was getting that arc on forward in two lakes - will try the mask on a river tomorrow - I will be using fwd to hunt for fish but was thinking changing to down or landscape at anchor / wonder how this mask will affect my coverage?

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Před rokem

      I don’t use landscape mode much but it will eliminate some range in down and landscape mode. You can always try it and if you’re not happy with mask can take it off. Thanks for the kind words.

    My “reflections” look nothing like yours. Mine look like a 10-20 ft long and 2-4 ft deep mess at the outside range from the surface down.
    There needs to be a software fix to this versus blocking out 30 degrees or more of your transducer.

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Před 2 lety +1

      Losing part of the transducer range is not an ideal situation. A software fix would be a better option for sure.

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Před 6 měsíci

      That’s a wide range at 15-50 feet. I always try to keep my bottom range slightly deeper than the actual bottom to maximize the picture on the screen. In 50’, I would set it at 55’ whereas in 15’ I would set it to 20’. If bottom fluctuating a lot then slightly deeper than deepest area.

    Have you found a difference in the quality of the view when you use contrast setting with dynamic contrast off versus using dynamic contrast on? HB support told me if I have dynamic contrast on, it overides the contrast setting regardless of what the contrast setting is on. Thanks. Ron

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Ron, that is how it is explained in the manual as well. Sensitivity and contrast are your key adjustments when trying to get the best image. I have played with various settings dynamic vs. contrast. I generally prefer contrast as it gives me greater flexibility. It doesn’t take long to flip between the settings so try them all and see what’s best.

    • @ronknight6400
      @ronknight6400 Před 2 lety

      @@stevechiassonfishing5876 Thanks Steve.....I agree that using dynamic contrast is using a broad stroke, and using contrast with dynamic contrast turned off is using a fine stroke.

    That's a defect hummingbird should replace it with a improved transducer when these are expensive to buy I would think that's a warranty thing putting pieces of rubber stock on kinda hokey

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  Před 2 lety

      Not all anglers will choose to adjust the transducer angle up high enough to make this a large issue. It is nice to know that they tried to find a solution for those that do. It’s not perfect but something is better than nothing.
