    What a clear picture. The live scope has too much background clutter at 70 gain. You convince me to buy a live scope which was a great decision and I'm very happy with it. Bass Tank rules!! Now I will have to make another decision in 6 months or so to buy Mega live. Thanks for a great analysis.

    I want to share the information the screen shots have me. 1st the bait and bass was holding between 20 and 25ft. 2nd the smaller bass was on the very top of the break line. 3rd the larger bass was suspended at the same depth, they were about 50ft away from the break line. The two key things I look for is depth and speed. I bet Jonny had figured out the depth with down imaging before he used mega live. What mega live shows is how the bass react to the lure. This is how an angler determines the speed needed for that day. This is why I commented about the fisherman's brain. while watching I asked how would I use this as a tool.

    First thanks Jonny for making this video. Second you wanted our opinion on Mega live. My opinion is it's still too early. Once the final version comes off we can choose what brand we want. Here is what no one has talked about. The fact is someone who is an advanced forward view sonar user can catch fish no matter what brand. Jonny you use your knowledge and brain to read what's going on with livescope, active target, or mega live. You know how to process the information. The fact is what the image looks like does not matter, if someone can not process the information the units are giving. People forget the human brain is what separates good fisherman from just ok fisherman. Both Jonny and Randy use their brains. They process information different. Both are really good fisherman. I want all the guys who are bashing the top three brands of electronics to stop and think, can I process the information and use it to be a better fisherman or am I worried about the image quality only.
    P.S. I can process that Jerky on my next fishing trip

    @scottsilver5409 Před 3 lety

    Important to note that Garmin forward facing sonar has 20 degree from left to right in forward mode, Lawrence has 18 degrees in forward mode and I believe hummingbird is 22 degrees in forward mode. I believe all three brands have approximately 160 degree coverage from top to bottom in forward mode. Two or four degrees doesn't sound like much difference but with those small numbers it is 10 or 20% difference depending on who you're comparing against.

Can you see fish and structure, yeah but definitely lacks the detail and clarity that the Garmin and 2nd gen Lowrance units have. The tech is great ,although spending time looking for fish is not a lot a fun ,more like work , the forward looking sonar is changing the amount of pressure on the largest bass in a lake off shore ,like any new lure or bait the bass will adapt to staging around structure rather than on top .still enjoy how it works not sure how long any of this lasting without scattering the big fish though the system never know till the future of electronics stall or is there more in the future as fisherman demand better equipment .great show Johnny my favorite all time angler is Rich Clunn like your interview with one of the very best to fish for bass

Having HB's mega SI/DI and 360, I was expecting it to be better than Garmin's offering or at least as good, and what I've seen so far doesn't even come close, so I'm a little disappointed. My guess is, this is what we'll get with existing units and if we want something better, we'll have to get the G5n or some such new unit that is designed specifically to handle the processing better. Just my thoughts, thanks for the vid. Keep them coming.

I think the wrong message is being sent that every bass fisherman has to run 4/5 graphs on their boat to be competitive. I hoping that at some point a someone will say enough is enough and set limits on the number of units you can run during competitive fishing.

      Check out this video I made about my fish finder setup on my boat.
      czcams.com/video/87o6LtNRseA/video.html
      We were using Harvey's boat in this video and his boat and graph set up costs $50,000 more than mine. I'm still running a 2005 18ft triton with 9in fish finders. In the video linked above, I explain how I created a budget fish finder setup that is more affordable for recreational anglers.

    Good job putting lipstick on a pig. It looks like a blurry version of LiveScope. You are spot on about the brush and rocks, it looks terrible compared to LiveScope. I can count fish on a brush pile with LiveScope, it looks like a blob on MegaLive. The best combo is 360 with LiveScope, no question about it.

      I had been holding out for the MEGA Live, waiting to see what they came up with. My tournament partner has had LIVESCOPE almost since it came out so I know what it is capable of. I was hoping HB would at least match. I know it will probably get better but from what I've seen they haven't even come close. I'm disappointed in that. I got my LIVESCOPE pkg yesterday. I do have all HB units on my boat otherwise.

    • @NetBuddyFishing
      @NetBuddyFishing Před 3 lety +2

      You made a good decision, looks like they will need to make a second one in a year or 2 with a box to get it clearer and faster to match what Garmin and Lowrance have.

      @GordonPettieFishing Před 3 lety +1

      @@NetBuddyFishing I was thinking the same about the black box. I have heard that HB actually put something in with the transducer that is kind of the black box that works in conjunction with the units software. I do believe they will have to make a separate one for better performance. All the pictures I've seen still seem very grainy to me.

    • @quantumguy82
      @quantumguy82 Před 3 lety +2

    • @mburke1211
      @mburke1211 Před 3 lety +1

      @@quantumguy82 I guess that’s a valid perspective, but what if you already have 2 Solix units, and want to add live? One of the reasons to hold out for the HB live product is that it will only cost you $1500 if you already have the graphs. Solix is the flagship unit for HB, so you would think they’d want to show some Mega Live previews using it.
