    I'm an old guy, and I'm getting tired of hauling around my Blues deluxe . . . And I'm getting tired of having it repaired 😣. I think the mv series is the way to go! Solid state reliably, and weighs less than 2 pounds, while sounding awesome.

    Still watching some older posts. I missed this one altogether. I did buy one of these about 3 yrs ago and use it often. It still sounds great and has been very reliable. It's easy to move it around my room to drive different cabs.
    That's my low budget review
    ...thanks again!!!

    I love this amp. I have 2x8 vox cabs for bedroom/recording and it's a perfect pedal platform. Btw, you can jump bright and fat circuits with mini switches (that I mounted where the handle holes are). The fat is meh but the bright gives you a different voicing in the highs. Really neat.

    have one and use it as a back up and rehearsals ..it is amazing, awesome sound, gets loud enough to cut through the mix of my Alice Cooper tribute and it takes pedals like a champ. you can run 1/2 power and crank it up, it breaks up like an el84 running wide open..love it

    You're totally right !! I agree 200 purcent.. Between a tube amp and MV50, impossible to know which one is a vacuum tube or nutube. They sound different but both have a super sound and well react with all pedal. I use the Clean model with a Celestion Ruby 8ohm and Friedman BE-OD Deluxe + Delay + Reverb in front...

    I'm a tube amp guy all the way, but this really would come in handy for a backup to get thru the night should it arise. Was looking at the Seymour Duncan amp but I think it's like 400 hundred dollars kind of expensive to me. Thanks for the info man.

    I've seen people are using these on their pedalboard to run direct. I'd LOVE to see a video doing a side by side comparison of this and the Quilter Interblock. I'm torn on which to buy as a backup to run direct. I'm leaning towards. The quilter because of FX loop and voicing switch. Same exact price too.

    So to those who are wondering if you can gig with it.....abso freaking lutley........ I have a $3000+ amplifier which is amazing...I bought one to run through a 2x12 cab with 8ohm speakers wired in series for 4 ohms to give me the full 50 watts in a two amp set up with my custom amp and it is amazing!!! I almost considered selling my custom amp and getting another one of these to run as a pair. They are truly amazing and well worth the $300aus I spent on it.

    • @BlackDotPatrick
      @BlackDotPatrick Před 6 lety +1

      mrgretschfalcon two 8 ohm speakers in series results in 16 ohms. In parallel would be 4 ohms. Just in case you didn't realize.

    I can hardly wait for mine to get here....I like solid state almost the same as tube stuff. I have played both for more than fifty years. My little Fender Princeton 110 has a wonderful clean tone from 1998, and SS technology has gotten way better since then. We'll see if this can replace a Marshall .......

  • @kirkbolas4985
    @kirkbolas4985 Před 6 lety +5

    Am I gonna chuck my Marshall JTM 800, my Vox AC 30 or my Fender Deluxe Reverb and replace them with a cadre of these??? No. Of course not.
    At the same time, will I pick up a trio of these and configure my live rig to make the most of these micro-voxes. Of course I will. Why?
    If it sounds good, it is good. End of story. Besides, after almost 40 years of gigging, I’m tired of bucking around all the iron and glass.

    I’ve had a bogner 50am tube combo. No problem keeping up with grind metal drummer. In comparison, a 200W (peak) PA speaker could barely keep up, with distortion too. So is this 50w tube “similar” to a 50w tube guitar amp?

  • @jfonlinenow1
    @jfonlinenow1 Před 5 lety

    I have the MV50 Rock model and I route mine guitar -> wah/overdrive/eq -> MV50 input. From there I go from the speaker output straight into a 2x12 8ohm speaker (celestions) cabinet, but I also use the pre-amp out into another amp's pre-amp (front) and hookup my chorus/delay effects through that amp's effects loop.
    I am going to purchase a second MV50 and try a mod on it. I want to see if I can find room to add an additional "insert" jack somewhere on the unit and wire that up between the pre-amp and power-amp sections of the MV50, and then use that for an effects loop. Hopefully I can also loop that in before the pre-amp/headphone out jack.

  • @urbansoban2669
    @urbansoban2669 Před 6 lety

    Great demo and fine playing, thank you. So if I understand correctly, you can go out from the MV either into a cab with the speaker (red/right output jack) out or through the line out/headphone (left) output. What I don't like in the line out scenario is the fact that they give you a speaker emulation by default (not optional). Because the way I see the MV50's as very useful in my rig situation is: pre-MV50 -> distortion pedals/wah - MV50 on the verge of breakup -> all the modulation/delay/reverb stuff in a multi-FX unit -> into a powered cab (I have a 2x12 50 W 1st gen Atomic Amp with a real tube power amp). That way, it would all essentially be tubes: the Nutube in the MV50 preamp, bypassed its solid state power amp because the power amp is the tube in the Atomic. Does anyone think this could work?

    I have a question. Maybe an idea you can make a video about. I have a valveking. Been chasing tone forever and love the simplicity of the VK112 dirt channel. I'm not over whelmed by the clean channel however. Would it be possible to wire an addition set of speaker wires from the VK combo speaker and plug into an amp like this and a/b it using the MV for cleans and the VK for my dirt? Would that split the ohms on the speaker? Would it push voltage back thru the speaker wires killing one or both of the amps? Looking for convenience but not sure about all the ins and outs of trying something like this/electricity/electronics, etc. Thanks in advance for any reply/input. Dig all the info and the channel btw. Loud Love from Colorado!

  • @mrkite89
    @mrkite89 Před 6 lety +2

    You can't generalize about SS amps: some of the greatest Blues tones of all times have been made with SS amps! BB King, Albert King: they mainly used solid state amps...my father has all the three MV50s: I tried them with different cabs (1x12 and 2x12 open back, Celestion Blue, 2x12 closed back G12T-75...) and they're not bad, but I wouldn't renounce to use my tube amps 'till my back is young and strong ahahahah! ;) IMO, you get what you pay for: if you think that these little boxes will sound like a boutique tube amp, you're on the wrong way: the cab helps, but the response\headroom is not there. It sounds like a tube PRE-amp, not like a full saturating tube amp (pre, PI, output tubes, transformer): if you generally play with the pre high, and the master low, these amps will do the trick, if you play a cranked, no MV tube amp, they will FEEL very different...

    • @mrkite89
      @mrkite89 Před 6 lety +1

      Uh, The Beatles also recorded with the SS Vox amps of the time: Conqueror, Defiant etc...Sgt. Pepper is not a bad album! ;)

    Why do you keep saying this is a solid state?
    It is of the new tube technology it has everything a regular tube has in just a smaller form factor. Hence the word "new tube"
    It is only the power section that is solid state .
