    2 things:
    A) Vox released an MV50 AC with a built in reverb and temelo to go with their mini Super Beatle amp package.
    B) Joyo has their AtomiC 20 watt with a built in FX loop and bluetooth.
    I would be interested to know your thoughts on the above in a side by side comparison with the original MV50 AC, thank you for demo-ing this, I look forward to seeing the rest of your reviews on the line. 🤘🙂🎸

    I use the mv50 for reccording at my home studio. I can't afford to play loud on real speaker so i use the di output on the mv50 i'm ok with it, not perfect but good enough for my need. To compensate the lack of effect loop of the mv50ac, i insert the mv50 in the effect loop of my pod hd500x. The fx loop out of the pod in the guitar in of the mv50 and the di out of the amp in the return loop of the pod. I can then add any dynamic or eq in the front of the amp and the reverb, delay,mod after the amp. I can use it as single amp or in parallel with a pod sim amp. I still have the spdif output of the pod as dry signal.

    Very surprised by this little thing. Bought it a couple of weeks ago with an Engl Speaker Box (1x 10"). Love it! Only downside is the missing reverb

    Hi! I've heard in the Internet that, if you connect a mono cable to the line out of the MV50 and you put it only half way in, you get the sound of the amp without the cab sim. If it is true, you could use your wet effects after the preamp, as long as you use some sort of cab sim at the end of the chain, like the iconoclast. I know the video ist "old" now, but can you confirm that? It would be awesome for someone like me that need an "amp" to record some small things at home thru IR's! Thanks for your time and keep the good work!

    @Oris37 Před 6 lety +4

    Hi Henning. Vox seem to have misjudged their market here - the whole MV range is edging on being a toy rather than a proper tool for guitarists. I love the fact that it's compact with serious volume but why no fx loop etc? For me the bogie-on-the-Mona-Lisa, is that VU meter - WHY..?!? Almost getting into Gibson territory by adding features to a great product that the market HASN'T been crying out for... That's just my 2CW

    • @VintageSG
      @VintageSG Před 6 lety

      There's the new 'Super Beetle', which addresses the useless VU meter ( VirtuallyUseless?) by omitting it. It features onboard reverb and tremolo, but still no loop ( grr! ).It looks like it comes with a cutesy-retro speaker cab as a bundle, but the head is small enough to throw in a gig bag and drive the backline 4x12".Just need that loop now Vox.Definitely a good looking addition to a man cave of amp-y goodness and so close to being a grab-n-go too.

    Do they still shut down when they get hot or did they fix that? Not so good in the middle of a gig.

  • @isthereanybodyoutthere9397

    In answer to not being able to put reverb/delay etc through it, as far as remember from VOX, it can take reverb/delay pedals before or after it making it effectively a part of the pedal board. What I mean is you can send it a reverbed or delayed sound and it will process it, or you can add those after before it gets to the speaker, so I don't think it needs FX Loop. I also understand that some guitarists use them as part of their pedal boards to switch in and out so making them effectively stomp boxes.

    • @RustinSCohle
      @RustinSCohle Před 3 měsíci

    How do the VOX MV50 Series compare with the JOYO Bantamp Series do you consider them equal or is one better than the other.

  • @Jinballify
    @Jinballify Před 6 lety +2

    Out of pure, unadulterated curiosity: Has anyone tried chaining these mini amps up? I mean, strap a clean one after the effects you want (Delay, reverb and ye' ole' modulators) and voila! There's a power amp in the chain! I mean, it should work like that. Has anyone tried this?

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  Před 6 lety

      how would you go into the effects from the amp?

    • @Jinballify
      @Jinballify Před 6 lety +1

      Well, I mostly was thinking of trying to create a chain of: Preamp pedals, distortions and modulations you want on front -> MV50 Rock/MV50 AC/MV50 High Gain (from here, we take the sweet gain they have to offer, and balance the volume as such it won't just blow up everything after it) -> Modulating effects you want after gain stage, and your delay and reverb -> MV50 Clean, which we treat as a basic booster unit and a simple EQ -> Cab. Literally just slap the later effects after the first amp going into the clean one.
      I mean, it's really just a theory in my head, and haven't thought through all the potential stumbling blocks along the way, like will the signal from the first MV be simply too hot to go into the clean amp afterwards. But in theory chaining them up should work, or am I going completely bass player logic here? These things are so small and so cheap that you really just could buy several of them as long as the cab can handle the signal?
      But well, at least I got the great Henning interested with the idea! Just... don't blow up any expensive delays trying this alright, start with some HB/JOYO things that won't make me feel bad to have suggested this if they blew up, ok?
      But man, if this really works I know exactly what my rig will look like in the future!

  • @joebobhenrybob2000

    Yeah NOT GOOD going direct. With gain up and tone fairly bright, headphone out had a constant "whhkkkhhhhsshhhkwwwh" as part of the sound that did NOT sound realistic
    Vox needs to make their version of a Fryette Valvulator GP/DI using their various MV50's.
    As it is, their own cab emulator can't handle their own product that it is a part of, even without any distortion pedals added.
    I have the fryette waiting for me to pick up at a fedex location today, just gotta finish my workday. Very tempted to cut out early.

    • @joebobhenrybob2000

    • @joebobhenrybob2000
      @joebobhenrybob2000 Před 6 lety

      For recording I plan to either do direct out of the fryette cab sim on OR cab sim off line out into a thr on flat miced. Simultaneously recording clean out of the fryette just in case I feel like reamping. So psyched. (Gotten by for years on an amp vst)

    • @joebobhenrybob2000
      @joebobhenrybob2000 Před 6 lety

      ...and the Fryette valvulator gp/di arrived. Certainly better than the Vox and it's an $800 vs $200-$250 price point so of course it is. Certainly better than buying 4 vox mv50's of various kinds - more versatile, better direct, just better. Real tubes. Way way way way way way way better i/o. I cannot emphasize that enough.

      It is the speaker that has an impedance, but you can probably connect 4 - 8 - 16 ohms, but will only get 50w with 4 ohms.
