I couldn't agree more with what you said about them. I also think it's great someone on the internet finally has grown the balls to talk about the drawbacks of products too. All we see is people saying these new products are great. What we really want is an honest opinion, which is exactly what you've been giving us. Thank you for that, sir!
Henning, the production quality and preparation that you put into your videos is fantastic. TV production quality, but unlike commercial television, you are informative and entertaining. Thanks for the great videos.
he could spend a little more time tuning
@@bfdaddys7895You had to be that guy, eh? 😂
4:35 Clean
7:15 Overdrive
9:47 Distortion
12:12 Drop D Riff
20:12 Comparison with old tube amps
Ok - this was perhaps one of the most informative, helpful and thorough amp videos I have ever seen. You are fantastic and extremely (refreshingly) detailed. Thank you! (FYI - Boutique sounds like the perfect choice if you want to get just one)
I go with AC or boutique. Both are awesome
The VU meter looks cool.
Holy moly, the ideas you have for these amps is amazing. i hope someone picks up on this
this is honestly an amazing idea, i'd definitely support it !
Top quality production. Really good demos that answered a lot of questions. Thanks for posting.
I wholeheartedly concur with you Mr. P... All of your suggestions were exactly what this product needs - I especially like the little connector/jumper plug idea - genius..! I hope Vox (or maybe some other company) will take on board these ideas and we'll be seeing the results at the next NAMM.
The AC sounds awesome how can you spend money from a joint bank account without your wife finding out damn it
Small deposits over time to a separate account. Don't ask me how I know.....
Start by growing a pair of balls.
Been wanting an review like this. Great ideas.
Thank you.
Great stuff... Again. These are reviews that can really act as a guide for both buyers/players as well as companies/designers (great 'new' chapter with thoughts on design and tips for improvement, graphics included - Vox should pay you for this ;-)
What an incredible idea. Mix and match to your own taste and budget!
The Clean with pedals works great for me. I don't need an effects loop
What a genus idea for the pedals. I'm really impressed.
Great video. For my rig, I use an mv50 high gain into a 2x12 cab, and my other is a different pedal board solid state amp hooked to a Mesa Flux Five with EQ pedal into another 2x12, and the combination in tones is stellar. Sounds great.
You just designed what we all want. Great idea if they will only do it. I want the setup you thought thru just now.✌🏻🎸🤘🏻
I'm happy with my mv50 clean. Great pedal platform!
sunlounger29 me too, with pedals it's all I need
@@shaunm1983 Hi does it go easy over a drummer in Practice Situations?
@@anthonydinning2788 I wouldn't know, I only play in the house. I would guess yes tho, it's pretty loud
Is it loud enough for a practice studio or jam session?
King Alex Drums yes!
Will you do the Mini Super Beetle next? I’ve pre-ordered one. Even if I don’t end up loving it, it looks so cool. :)
I'd be curious to see how you'd do an MV50 stereo set up using what you have there.
What you’ve described is exactly what I’ve been wanting from products like the MV50s. Although I do want the headphone jack too. Even if it doesn’t sound great, there are times when I want to use it.
Still waiting for the MV 50 Mini Super Beatle amp review with built in reverb and tremelo, and how it stacks up vs. the MV50AC. Great review, Henning!👍🏻
Excellent idea. Vox makes amazing products, and your ideas are geared for serious players and not just jamming in your bedroom.
The cleans of that Boutique are sweeet!
Great idea about combining them as multichannel amps.
Great review! I would know what of these amps are better with a pedalboard (buffer-dynacomp-od-rat/big muff-modulations)?
The ideea of combining more amps sounds very interesting and appealing.I would seriously buy more than one amp in this situation!
This idea would be a life saver for A LOT of people plus bends could use this to play gigs on tour and so on. That would be great 😁
Love the pedal board idea someone really needs to put that into production 🎸👍
Just got a new MV50 High Gain for $149. I'm having fun with it so far. Thanks for the vid Henning.
didn't even realize they came out with the 2 additional amps.
Very good idea Henning.
People should think about what else they always have to lug everything and with your idea, the only thing you need to have is your pedalboard.
You come to the rehearsal and everyone asks "hey where is your amp" and you just have your pedalboard in hand and can say "everything in here".
From the pedalboard only the cable to the box or PA and is ready.
So you can create your own setup.
For each "channel" the right pedals on it and you could save yourself the many pedaling on the pedal, because that's what you do then only to switch from one to the other "channel".
I'm curious if they really work on it and if so, then you should definitely get recognition from them.
Keep it up Henning, I love your videos.
And once a small session with Kiara would be something again, you do not hear much from her.
Hey Henning, cool idea with the multi-channel pedal amps! The Two Notes Le Lead & Co. have a similar thing going, but they have no power amp, obviously. The way the MV50s are right now, I fail to see any serious advantage over the Orange Micro Dark or the Joyo BantAmps. You have them all, what's your take?
Superb video as always
I had thought the same ... that vox can make a pedal with these characteristics, but your complete idea is even much better, you are a genius ... I hope Vox hires you : )
Great film, you really show these well. Now... peddleboard schmeddleboard, I want a rackmount edition!
My goodness you are one smart guy , and your great talent expresses that very well .
However , as genius as your ideas for these desirable little boxes are did you not already reveal that as good as they may be , when compared to the real thing they become likened to pedal imitator accessories ? . Lets not forget that the largest percentage of this type of product is aimed at the masses ( of whom I am a member ) a budget priced gift ! to improve on the last
roll out .
Your idea is great , and I hope that the right people are listening and hopefully you will be recognised and rewarded duly .
Conclusion ; Your level is in a small percentage that multitudes are forging to ascend to , for now you have produced a thorough informative guide to the models which many want to see and hear .
Thank you .
Great review/comparison etc. I am a pedal guy so definitely leaning towards the clean. But sometimes I'd like to just plug into the amp only and get some gain - so the Boutique appeals (more than the other AC/Rock/High). So my question is how clean can the Boutique stay at higher volumes? It seemed pretty clean from this, but still not sure. Maybe I should wait until Vox does a two channel version of these with a loop. But perhaps I'll be waiting a long time...(?)
That modular pedal board amp idea is fantastic
I used a MV50 Clean all summer for my job, mostly with an acoustic guitar, though it sounded very good with my pedalboard and my electric guitars too. It helped to have an amp and some pedals, I could have managed with just the acoustic, but now it was much less of a struggle. I really enjoyed my job because of it. I think I'll get the Boutique also to have an option for the future.
Your idea sounds interesting. I agree that the product needs to get even better. The meter and the line output could go, I think that the amp could even be bigger, if it means that it has fx loop. I'm not so much into the idea of making it into a pedal, but would probably still buy one... maybe make the amp a little bigger and have a clean and a dirty channel...?
This video and comparison is great, it helped a lot, thanks!
How did I not find this channel before as a guitar nut I thought I’ve seen them all but really enjoy your vids, you should do a review of G&L’s I have the ASAT DELUXE it’s one of the best guitars I’ve owned, and if u have I’ve got a lot of catching up to do on your page🎸🎸
I definately like the multi-channel amp idea!
good idea, hope those company keep an eye on your video
Love the idea of combining those amps. Another great idea would be building a seperate clean power amp pedal which could do something like Vol, Tone, Reverb instead of having 3-5 class D Amps on your board. Maybe that power amp pedal could even be an IR-Cabsimulator. That would be a game changer.
Love all the side by side comparisons. Also, I'm always curious if it's Henning we hear playing and singing at the end of these vids?
Haha, he did sing for a bit once or twice ...you don't want to hear it ; )
With the animals at the end it's often his buddy Rafael Cano (like here), the Spanish-German English Teacher/Singer-Songwriter dude and dedicated weirdo.
They did a live in the studio thing just recently, it's on the channel ...but to be honest, I prefer the older recordings they did with these songs, 4 years ago or so, they're also on the channel.
Never trust Canadians! Oh hey Ben :)
I like the idea of pedalboard amps. Which is why i'm super exited for Victorys amp-pedals
Your idea is great. Just add a line-out on it so you can wire it to a speaker sim or real tube power amp. Also i have the feeling that a three band EQ would make these things sound more “all over the room” because more high tones wouldn’t cost you your low-end.
Thank you sir, this was much appreciated
Fantastic video, thanks. I love the clean and to a lesser degree, the AC and Boutique. Not being a gigging musician I have no real opinion on the pedalboard idea but it does sound cool, maybe a second modular line in a pedalboard format with a built-in Clean and snap-on amps, effects loop, etc. Now you just need a guitar hardshell case with a couple 12” rare earth speakers mounted in it . . . Or a 4x12 stack with built-in Segway . . .
Awsome Idea! I would buy that!
Clever solution ! I play my custom shop telecaster into a mv 50 clean into a Ritchie Kotzen fly rig into an orange greenback speaker , I can tell uou its a killer sound !!!!!!
Liking the boutique so far. 10 minutes in the video. now 13 minutes in still boutique. High Gain in drop D nice.
Boutique #1
High Gain #2
AC # 3
Rock #4
Clean #5
And Yes bigger brothers sound nicer than minis.
Just got the Clean, for my son to use, plugged it into a 2 x12 cab that has been in my garage for 20 years, really good! His cheapo multi fx gives him all the tones needed, tried on a 4 ohm 8 inch speaker, tbh, didn't like, but into my Marshall's cab, very nice, no brainer spare Head, Vox screwed up not adding the attenuator to the other version and must have effects loop!
Congratulations for the review.
I think you've given the vox people a great idea, let's hope they take note of it...
I really like your comments at the end, I love the idea... but currently can't find a use. However a direct out without emulation would also be good for use with Rader/Ir's :)
I really like the pedal amp chain idea. Makes it super versatile but have to make it still is cost effective. Run with it.
really nice reviews!!
entertaining and concise review.
Ich habe mir tatsächlich alle Valvenergy Pedale gekauft, großartiges Konzept, super Sounds, und ich denke sie haben sich dein Video angesehen! 👍
The pedal amps you just described would be so cool. Would buy them imediately if they functioned how you described them.
+1 for cats and pizza. Also for the quick clips at the end of each demo with the one short riff going head to head.
I like your Idea of linking the mv50’s! Vox listen to this guy!
Excellent presentation and respect to you. Rodge David Kidderminster UK
Your idea is amazing and i own the high gain and my opinion is the crazy pedal board you suggested is an crazy and amazing idea
It’s a bidge when you typo “bridge”. Seriously, I’ve watched all these MV50 reviews, and you’ve done an excellent (as usual) job.
To be honest, for the higher gain settings I actually enjoyed the Boutique and AC more than the Rock and Highgain models
Me too.
i agree i just bought one and waiting for delivery
Yea, they have a more defined sound
it seems that ac and botique are low gain amps but not completely clean where the others are obviously high gain literally named that and the rock is mid-gain which i boost a little bit with a pedal instead of buying two high gain ones running alone
Yep. Definitely more "character".
I'll be getting the Boutique I think.
Great ideas. Just one addition. IR loader would be great. Hope Vox consider those.
7:28 My guitar doesn't have a "Bidge" pickup position... I'm sad. I have to use my bridge pickup instead.
That modular amp idea is BOSS!! OH... I mean KORG!! Brilliant none the less!
Are these new because I remember you reviewing these last year.
Perhaps the impedance switch calibrates the output power meter for the DC impedance of the speaker.
Similar connetcion system as on 29:00 is used on Yerasov SCS- series. One power supply, compact routing etc.
I like your idea, I would definitely buy a set instead of a single amp.
Omg this is amazing idea!!!!
Great video HP, as always. I think if they just added an effects loop I would probably purchase one or more. No effects loop, no purchase. I think your concept of the pedal/amps is a great idea. I've also often wonder why a company doesn't create a chassis with swap-able pre-amps. So you could have a two channel amp chassis and you could purchase the pre-amp that suits your needs. Cheers!
What about Synergy Amps?
EytschPi42 Valid point but I was thinking more in the practice amp range ($200-$300) which is what I consider the Vox MV amps to be. The Synergy amps looked and sounded awesome but also have a higher price point to go along with them.
EytschPi42 Take the concept of Synergy amp but applied to the Joyo Bantamps. That would be awesome and affordable.
I’ve thought about getting the AC and running the amp level output into a Fryette PowerStation and then into a 1x12 cab, the result being way lighter than an actual AC30 or even AC15. The PowerStation has an effects loop too, so that’s taken care of. Most effects would go into the AC, delay & tremolo in the loop. The only not-plus is the PowerStation’s 6L6s: different sound than EL84s.
As far as travelling\lightweight-gigging solutions go, ever since I got my Atomic Amplifire, I haven't felt that I need anything else. Any place that has a mixer\PA\whateverkindofspeakerthingsies, I can plug in there and do my thing. However, the way you put it, it really has the potential to be an awesome pedal-sized amp.
I think the Boutique fared best in the "VS expensive valve amp" comparison. It sounded a bit like the other tone if you produced it for pop. The problem with that is that we have amp modelling floorboards that do that already.
I think your Ideas are good! Although I’d be happy with just a fx Loop on These and I’d buy one
That shirt is awesome love it : )
The Rock version is a great gig-saver when your valve amp dies. Just dial back guitar volume for rhythm sounds. Great products very well described Henning. You're right about the effects loop btw
excellent video. very good comparison, and super insightful ideas at the end i definitely wasn't expecting in a review video. i wonder if Vox will give you any credit when they steal this idea
I liked the Boutique with the D drop riff a lot. It’s a shame they did not made some preamps or overdrive pedals instead of those little things.
Love the suggestions from 25 to 29
They are a good amp, but I agree your idea of them being stomp boxes. It would make them awesome. I have a Boss ME80 and have tried to get tube sound out to my PA (I don't use cabs for a reason) and the AC version I bought just gives me the creamy tube sound I want as it goes into the PA. It isn't venue stuff, but with a Sound Engineer it could get close, but in a Bar/small venue I think my setup would sound good. I agree too about the VU meter. I can't see any point in it, and as you said it takes up space for other things. Great video.
And one year on Vox produces the Cambridge 50, I think they were listening, but not very hard as they still didn’t include an effects loop.
What do think of that Henning?
Great ideas!!
i don't know if it's the recording setup or what but, either i can't ear a difference between the MV series and the "real" tube amps, and in some cases the MV sounds much better! I'de love to try them in a room where you can actually feel the sound (because that's really important) but from here, i'm more and more impressed with theses sub 200 euros amp series
Oh hell yea! I own a clean and been thinking about getting a rock or ac. If they were pedals I would probably buy 3 or 4.
I have an mv50 ac, and I use it to feed a signal from the line out into the clean channel of a Roland Cube 40GX. This means I have reverb, delay, and various effects post gain. I'm also planning on getting a Strymon delay and reverb to compliment this setup, as well as a Strymon Mobius to put in the front. This setup sounds very, very good to me and it's cost me very little.
cloud boy I’m new to amps. Can you please explain this? You plug into one amp that goes to a different one? I am confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Henning, you are a genius. It's bad enough lugging one amp around but your way would make lugging 3 amps about a doddle and not rely on a multitude of pedals to tone shape during a gig.
Your ideas are great. But.....what if their's is to release a new Vox Tonelab Nutube version with an MV-50 integrated? It would be killer, and I am actually waiting for it.
We really need a video showing how the Clean works with various drive pedals.
That’s a good suggestion Henning. One wonders how much of a top-down designed to a price point process vs. utilizing and being open to a bottom-up process that honestly tries to make products that people actually want and can use determines these companies.
What are the chances an amp tech could install an FX loop like they do on a tube amp - any open space or flexibility for that inside these units?
It would be interesting to try the Clean module with a REV3 distortion box on the 1/100th attenuator setting for a bedroom metal sound. If you used an additional power amp attenuator like a THD Hot Plate you could run the line out to an FX unit and stereo power amp for a compact low volume wet/dry rig.
All this begs the question however - why not just use an affordable modeler like the Mooer GE-200 or Mooer Little Tank D-15?
your idea at the end makes sense however you have to think about how many of these vox would actually sell? amps in pedal format are rare, also the possibility for a customer to make a cock up and send the speaker out to a pedal is huge!! yes i know alot of us wouldnt but there are still people out there who plug the amps into the wrong ohm cabs even tho its really well marked.
also remember that an effects loop is a expensive thing to put in an amp (a good one that is) also depends on the amp design.
and when you do the cost factor for buying the pedals, connectors etc you could probs go down a different better suited path.
great videos tho dude
MV 50 on pedal form is more or less what Orange has done recently with their Terror Stamp and it seems to be awesome. If Vox would do that with their, I would buy two or three ! Really cool idea !
I'm listening on a cheap tablet right now which may explain this, but I didn't hear a nickles difference between these in clean mode.
I did hear slightly more pronounced differences when distorted.
I agree with the effects loop and the VU meter but I don't know if it is a good idea to make them in an Orange Terror Stamp format... These amps were designed to fit a specially designed cab. They look cool and I bought one because of this, my Pedalboard is already full. Comparing them with Friedman amp and Engl etc was very mean 😄 we talk about 10 to 20 times the price. It would be more fair to compare them with Orange Micro Terror, Micro Dark, Hotone, Marshall DSL1, Joyo and the clean vs the Hiwatt 5watt. Anyway a pleasant video as usual. Keep Rockin 🤘🏻🎸
Forget the MV50. Damn I want that shirt
