Satisfactory logistical SHORT CUTS with FaxIT...

  • Between the last episode and this one I finished our solar array. There doesn't appear to be any forced limits on number of solar panels so we're going to stop using green energy systems.
    In this episode we're going to create the most basic trickle of circuit boards, computers and heavy modular frames.
    I've decided the FaxIT! system...or at least the way I'm thinking about and approaching using it, is taking all the "factory building" out of this factory building game. I'm considering discontinuing my use entirely, or forcing myself to use it in fewer use-cases.
    What do you think?

      @@GenuineLolotov I just really liked the cadence of Bed’s delivery of the line. lol. I think all SF players and Minecraft players are in the same boat. You never finish a build, you just leave it as is when you need the next build.

    I feel like the main reason for Faxit is to bring items from ore deposits into your factory. This way they don't take away the factory building aspects while also letting you transport items a long way without having to place multiple kilometer long belts on the map

      I like that idea a lot. The factory logistics are much more fun. 90% of my world spanning belts are no plan at all. Just get across the terrain.
      Implement it now Bed! More vertical SF+builds with full belt work underneath!

      I didn't link what you were saying in the video to the mam push mode. Clearly spoilers weren't a problem. I thought it was about push vs pull systems, but what you described sounds like a must have. So many trips to get screws

    I commented on your last video saying that I would love to see more detail. That holds true for this video too. I noticed some hard cuts where I could tell that you went and did something that you didn't show in the video. Personally I would watch longer form content because I like seeing how you make decisions and how you learnnew features of the game. I have also been playing SF+ and I dont fully understand how slugs and farming and all of the quantum stuff work together. It would be cool to have seen you go through the discovery process step by step. In your last playthrough it felt like it was too much complex info that you went over too quickly because you didnt want the video to be long. Maybe try streaming sometime? As I said before I would gladly watch a stream or a VOD.

      I haven't forgotten your last comment and I'll take this one to heart!
      Do you have any idea what part I cut out you want to see? I tried (for you, specifically) to leave WAY more in than I usually do. I'll definitely plan to provide some longer-form content (or streams) in the future. I think with SF+ about to have a complete renovation, I'll wait until that's available. I can stream or release unedited gameplay. Keep leaving feedback! I take it all to heart.
      Right now...with SF+ 1.0 staring down the barrel at me, I just want to be sure I get through all this content before it all changes and I restart.

      @@BEDplaysGAMES I want to start by saying that I’m not trying to criticize what you’re doing or say something is wrong. I am just greedy and want more content!
      I rewatched the video. I think the cuts I was referring to were less of a big deal than my memory had let on. They were things like where you set up the manufacturer around 15 minutes and some change and had the cable going in but needed the wire and you cut to after having fixed it. Just felt unnatural to me, but you have to make videos to your own style, so take that with a grain of salt. I also play Satisfactory, and I also make 57 trips to get things that I run out of or forget partway through building something. I think it just feels natural to me to see the corrections and running back and forth because that’s part of the game.
      I think you said in your last video that you recorded a bunch of footage that you thought was too boring or not worth watching or something like that. Post it and let’s see! I bet you can get some views on it.
      I would also love to see more of your tutorial style videos. You do a great job explaining things and you have such a calm demeanor that it is easy to watch. I know that style of video takes more time to put together though so I totally understand if you are hesitant to make some of it with SF and SF+ 1.0 both coming up.

    I share your feelings about the Faxit network making things too easy. I didn't unlock it till tier 6 or 7 and I only did it to supply a central storage center in a more convenient area of the map. Which was weird as that playthrough already had a train network and I already had fully built factories.

    Thanks for the video, great as always. I was just reading some of the comments below, and in view of the upcoming SF+ overhaul, may I make a suggestion? Focus on getting space elevator phase 3 unlocked for this series/season, so people can see what to expect from tiers 7 & 8, and then leave it at that. My reasoning is, that most of the production going forward from here is fairly complicated and extremely time consuming, unless you go really mega-factory. Cobalt is an absolute nut-buster to produce, just to mention one 🙂 This might also allow you to go into a bit more detail with some of the production lines, like the guys asked about below.
    Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work! (and just to put a smile on your face: "Volbeat - wait a minute my girl" - have a listen 😀)

    • @aaavellone
      @aaavellone Před 4 měsíci +2

      Truth. Doing Cobalt and Invar is a giant pain as it's probably the first huge factory you're forced to build. Well, depending on when oil happens, I forget. As building an oil factory is also building a powerplant. Than after that you don't really have any giant factories to build until Aluminum and then Titanium.

      This is great. I've been mulling your comment over for two days, and it's obvious this is the best way to move forward. I've been considering a lot of options. Since the mod will be completely redone, I've had a lot of thoughts of stopping this playthrough as I'm going to have to restart fresh for the new update...and also the videos are pointless because in the future nobody will even be able to play THIS mod that I'm currently doing. I think if I stop worrying about decorating and building MASSIVE stuff, just get through the bare bones of the content that's here, then I can be happy with what we've accomplished in this season...and eager to restart the new stuff.
      And I did listen. I love Volbeat. The singer has a new badn asinhell that I've been listening to as well.

    17:15 I'm 3 months too late, but.... Can't you just make a temp faxit station where you're building and get supplies that way? Would probably be a less annoying than running back and forth all the time. And you can just get rid of it when the build is done.
    Edit: 17:36 Oh. Well, until you get those systems in place the above might be helpful. :D

  • @marcbennett9232

    good video! I would like to point out that they are updating sat plus to 1.0 soon, which will include a lot of balance changes. not sure what the changes are to faxit but it has changed things considerably. also you have kinda strayed away from the go slow and automate everything mindset that you started with. what if you made factories from the beginning with the space for faxit in mind, and when you unlocked it, you just swapped it in? ive never messed with faxit, could you potentially have a single faxit network per factory? and still use trucks and trains and stuff in between?

    • @BEDplaysGAMES
      @BEDplaysGAMES  Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks for the suggestions, they're great ideas! I like the idea of single factory nexus networks. So I have to use logistics around the world, but instead of worrying about the tedious belt running in a factory, I can just use nexus.
      I've talked about SF+ 1.0 in the previous video. As far as I know it changes everything so drastically I'll have to completely restart.
      Have I stray that much from our original tenets? I'm pushing forward, that's true, because I want ore washing. But I was trying to still get everything automated still...though now that I write this I realize I forgot stators full, motors, any a few other parts. I'll be thoughtful of this going forward so I spend more time with a firm base. To be honest, though, that's what THIS episode was supposed to be...a base layer of production of important parts before I moved forward. Once we get ore washing and pure metals I'll build up in a trickle-down manner to be sure we have everything we need.

      I think the idea of having one network per factory is a really cool idea.
