- I review, breakdown and explain Band of Brothers Episode 7 Breaking Point. I discuss the seventh episode in the HBO show from 2001 which focussed on Easy Company in the 101st Airborne Division. I react to the best moments in the episode, characters such as Sergeant Carl Lipton, Lieutenant Norman Dike, Joe Toye and Bill Guarnere losing their leg, Buck Compton being taken off the line and Hoobler’s death after getting a Luger. I also compare the assault on Foy and battle of the bulge to the real events and provide an in depth recap and my reaction to the full episode.

This is an episode i've been looking forward to breaking down! Sorry for the gap in time between the Band of Brothers breakdowns, but with only three episodes left to go i'll be breaking down The Pacific after! Let me know which other classic TV shows you'd like to see videos on. I was thinking Chernobyl after The Pacific!
Chernobyl!! Such a brilliant show. Looking forward to that breakdown
The Pacific, then Chernoby, I think that's an awesome idea.
The wire?
One thing they you have not emphasized in this series is that during the interviews with the men is that we do not know who they are at this point. Their names are not flashed n the screen until the last one. This device maintains the mystery and suspense by the producers as to who survives that mess.
This is a really good point that I just now realized. I’ve watched it countless times so I’ve memorized who the people are, but for first time viewers that’s a great way to keep the audience in the dark
This episode shows why the NCOs are the heart of the army.
Soliders need a 1st Sgt Lipton in their lives
Hell, not just soldiers, would've killed for a role model like that in the civilian world.
NCOs are the backbone of the Army, Marines, Air Force, etc…
The orders come from the brass but they get the job done.
Lip’s promotion wasn’t just a bump up in rank for a good job, it was a battlefield commission. His combat leadership and effectiveness took him from an enlisted rank and file to a full commissioned officer. That’s why the show treats that specific promotion with more gravity (the brief “ceremony” in Haguenau that Webster observes in the next episode, Lip receiving the surrender of the German general after the general refused to do so to an enlisted man in the final episode).
This episode proves that everyone has breaking point, even brilliant men such as Buck Compton.
Great episode, ‘I’m taking over’ is a great line by Speirs.
Yeah it is!
Thank You for helping me appreciate the horrors of War and to empathize with these amazing Heros. Bastogne was a tragic moment of Hell on Earth. It’s no wonder they have difficulty sharing their experiences, memories and stories. Makes me want to hug and thank them for all they have done. God Bless them.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and it complimented the TV show
Having watched the series many times through, although Bastogne was the darkest so far, Breaking Point is the high point.
The conversation between Spears (Spelling) and Lipton nearly brings me to tears!
Anyone can offer praise but to be praised by a man such as the real Spears is actually meaningful!!
My hat off to Mr Lipton!! You are a true soldier and the real reason we remember them as The Greatest Generation!!
God bless you Sir!
Thank you for the quotation marks around “rescued”!!
BEEN WAITING FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS, YOU DO NICE BREAKDOWNS WITH ALOT OF INFO..
Sorry about the delay on this one! Glad you enjoy the breakdowns on the show!
@@BrainPilot No need to apologise - well worth the wait!
Don't feel down on yourself for this video being late man.. it was a big episode and heavy with research, which you nailed at! Excited about Episode 8.. you've been doing so good man!
Thanks man! I appreciate that
Great summary and insight. Much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Havent even started watching and already liked the video
You do a really excellent job of analyzing this episode!
Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Not was it a battlefield promotion, Lipton wasn't removed from Easy. I understand battlefield promotions are usually removed from familiar faces for discipline reasons. He was needed in Easy! Great episode and review.
The first time I watched Band of Brothers was at Ft. Benning in 2006.
I found this channel when you reviewed episode 3 and now it is like Christmas when I get a new B.O.B breakdown. It is a way to watch the show all over again but in a shorter timeframe
Thank you, glad you're sticking around for them! It's such a good show and felt like I just had to talk about it!
The dialogue between Lipton and Spears is a classic! Officers maybe in charge overall but the Sargents really ran things.
A good officer would follow his Sargent’s advice.
This was a powerful episode that shows how even the biggest, strongest man can be affected by emotions.
I have watched this series several times through the last couple of years, and this was my favorite episode. I know everyone raves about episode 6, but this was my favorite.
They're two episodes that just connect to eachother so well! They're genuinely perfect!
14:57 Pretty sure that is Michael Fassbender in the middle.
Scene were Lipton reports death of Hoobler to Nixon &Winters illustrates what you said about literally feeling the cold ,, immersive is understatement,I can't rate episodes 5,6,&7 higher enough ,,market Garden &Holland and was no picnic but the Bulge battles & experience must been something else
.I Can't praise the entire series high enough ,
,perfect television
5***** excellent review my friend
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
More band of bros please
episode 7!, your series on band of brothers is excellent
Thank you, glad you're enjoying the videos!
At my dads furnal a guy shows up wearing fatigues my dad was a Seth. Injapan in ww two
This episode was done on a sound stage. Brilliant film making.
Yeah truly one of the best!
This is probably the most depressing of all the episodes.
Yeah it's definitely up there. Especially seeing how Easy took such a hit in such a small amount of time with so many of the leadership figures and also long standing men being taken off the line and getting wounded. However, with Lipton's promotion and Spiers becoming CO it almost marked a new era or guidance and a stronghold that they'd have moving forward, so it is also such an inspiring episode
5:16 It could have been his own pistol, though i find that unlikely because Corporals probably weren't issued handguns, though i'm not sure, it could have been a non-army-issued pistol he had.
I think I read somewhere that Hoobler was indeed killed by a German pistol in his pocket but it was not a Luger. Something else with an unfamiliar layout.
They are all gone by now😢
I always wondered if Easy was so short of officers, they had to promote Lipton, why would they send Lt. Jones, a West Point Graduate up to Battalion instead of with Easy where he was probably needed more.
FINALY :_d NICE
Lt. Norman was WIA.
Where is episode 8 and 9?
They're on the way!
As l enjoy this, does anyone else thinks about the soldiers in other nations...the Russians, the Vietnamese.....
