- I am from Germany, born and raised. A couple of years ago I relocated to Australia and been living there ever since.
Can you understand Urdu and Hindi?
- I sadly can’t understand both languages fully, neither can I speak them. However I am able to understand a few words and certain phrases.
Why haven’t you reacted to my recommendation yet?
- Every day I receive countless recommendations from you guys, which I am grateful for. I am trying to read all the comments but it does happen that I miss some out. The main factor is probably my working schedule which doesn’t allow me to film videos daily. Most weeks I can only find a couple of hours in the afternoon to film 2-3 videos. Of course I’d love to film more and film all of your recommendations, however I’m trying to stick with 1 or 2 uploaded videos a week. Quality over quantity.

I think it is fair to say, what I love about Bangladeshi music is that it has so many layers which incorporates a lot of deep rooted village folk music alongside modern musical sounds so that it caters for the older generation of Bengali folks who are traditionalist and grew up listening to folk songs and for the younger generation of Bengali folks who enjoy modern music so that way just by virtue of this, it brings the two generations together. Coke Studio Bangla also invites and welcomes non Bangladeshis who simply love the language of music and are open minded such as yourself to appreciate the efforts of Coke Studio Bangla and their diverse use of amalgamating different musical sounds and concepts together. Jola, you are very good reviewer of songs. ' Chaat Pitano Gaan ' which translates into ' Roof compacting and finishing Songs ' was very common before WW II in Bangladesh. Then, reinforced concrete roofs replaced ' It-Shurki-Chuna' roofs and these songs disappeared from the scene. The roofs were made of a mixture of brick chips, brick grains or sand ( Shurki ) and Lime ( Chuna ) laid on timber beams. A row of 10 to 12 boys (not women as shown in the video) would then beat the mix with wooden mallets to the rhythm of a fiddler's play. The English expression ' Climbing the wall ' means facing difficult time in life. The young singer metaphorically singing about the difficulties of his life. And the rolling of the view of the camera possibly represents the ' Topsy Tarby ' nature of one's life. Good job, Jola.
