I wonder where the last piece will go! Please, please video the placement of the last piece for us to see. Okay, I know you still have a lot of puzzling to go, but the progress is exciting and as you showed us the table, I couldn't help but wonder what would get done last...will there be some sky pieces to swap, will it be a "modern building" piece, an "old building" piece, a highly patterned piece, or a solid color? I suppose you could even choose the last piece ahead of time and set it aside to be last. What do you think?!
@tinag4262 Hi again, yes I will film the last few pieces to go in. I think the last piece will be green, there are so many green pieces all over the puzzle. But then again, after all that time spent on the sky, I'll probably be swapping sky pieces around for a long time to come. I won't set a piece aside, that would ruin the fun of seeing what the last piece is. Or we might be missing a few so it could be one we find on the floor after a frantic search (hope not). It will be fun to find out.
I wouldn't want to set aside a piece either, but I thought it was an interesting idea. I also considered that a piece (or two?) may be missing, but that is just too disappointing, and i prefer to remain optimistic that the puzzle will be complete!
I do so enjoy your monthly talks. If I had the people and space I would love to do this type of thing. Thank you and Happy New Year
@rosa733 Hi Rosa and thanks. Having other people come over to help has made this a lot more fun. You're welcome and Happy New Year to you too, john
Great update, John. It's looking better and better.
@pennyweiss1974 Hi again and thanks, the less white table we see, the more we feel like we are getting somewhere.
Amazing job so far! Looking forward to next month's video. Cheers to you and your family and friends.😊
Hi @LadyMystie, Thanks, next month is only 3 days away, I need to start thinking about making the next video, john
this has to be a world record, I have seen a few people complete this puzzle but no one I know has mixed the 7 bags together and done them as one big puzzle. I love jumbo puzzles but to me 6000 pieces is challenging enough, and 9000 is about the most I will ever attempt. Good Job, I think you will finish it in 2024
@michaelkucharski4251 Hi and thanks so much for watching, There are a couple of people in the comments that are working on this puzzle mixed together, but I don't think they have a CZcams channel. Crazy Puzzle Chick is on CZcams, ( czcams.com/video/IWlMUi0eotc/video.html ) and she just started the Dowdle 60,000 piece puzzle, where she mixed 57,000 pieces. She just started, so I can imagine that it will take her awhile. Yes, you are correct, 6,000 and 9,000 piece puzzles are quite a challenge, john
Happy New Year, John. You all made some great progress this month!
@BB-bj9hx Hi and thanks, and Happy New Year to you too. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going.
Love the updates. What amazing progress you have made, and total respect for mixing all the bags together! 1500 is as high as I go (mainly from space restrictions), but I love watching everyone who is braver than I am. Merry Christmas, a happy puzzling new year to you, and I hope that santa brought you some nice puzzles. Fiona
@whitetiger1518 Hi and thanks for watching, I too love to watch people doing the bigger puzzles. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and are enjoying the new year so far, john
What an awesome challenge and method you have figured out. Best to you for a completion in 24
Some thoughts:
I'd be so worried about a dropped piece(s) on that floor and overlooking - those floor joints aren't tight. . Keep that place CAT FREE !
I'd get a big digital display stopwatch - like sports scoreboard - to keep track of the time. Hours Mins Seconds.
Overhead wide angle stop motion cam that never is moved.
LIVE stream a session.
@register1430 Hi and thanks so much, and thanks for the ideas. I check the floor regularly and can usually find a couple of pieces, we will probably be missing some at the end and then there will need to be a very detailed search. I would love to do time-lapse videos but just can't get the whole puzzle in the shot. I tried once but all I could really see was just people walking around the table, the fun part is being able to see the pieces go in. If I keep playing with it maybe I can get it to work.
I think you will be able to finish the puzzle this year definitely 🙂 I would guess around 24th July 2024 😀 Btw. great job with the puzzle. Me and my husband like to watch your recaps 🙂
@Astronimi Hi, thanks, and thanks so much for watching. I'll put your guess in the book, john
Hi John! I love your videos with this puzzle. Huge respect for trying to solve a 42k piece puzzle and not a couple smaller puzzles (like they were in the bags at the start). Do you plan on doing other puzzles on the channel after you solve this one? Would love to see that.
@TomGoo Hi again and thanks, we will probably take a break, but there are other puzzles that look fun (the 24,000 piece Life puzzle for one). As we get closer to finishing this one, Mom wondered last month what we were going to do next, she really enjoys all the family time (we all do). So we'll have to see what happens.
Love your content, thanks and take care!@@puzzlemethis.
Just found you, I’m gonna go back and watch all your videos and catch up while I puzzle aha
@watchman9198 Hi and thanks so much for watching, john
Happy New Year, John! It's looking great. I'm so glad I haven't taken on that puzzle challenge. My Educa Sistine Chapel is challenging enough. Making slow progress on my Wonderful World.
@crazypuzzlechick Hi again and thanks, Happy New Year to you too. The Sistine Chapel puzzle looks hard, a lot of the same color and pattern. The Wonderful World puzzle will probably seem slow just because of the number of pieces, but you have a good system. Like you, I would have also started with the yellow/gold continents. I'm looking forward to more of your updates, john
Great progress, John! Happy New Year! 🎉🧩
@Addicted2Puzzles Hi Judy, thanks, and Happy New Year to you and yours also. I enjoyed your Christmas puzzle time-lapse videos, john
Hello again and Happy New Year. Thank you so much for these updates. I really enjoy seeing your progress. It's looking great!!
@janspearman9310 Hi again and Happy New Year to you too. You're welcome and thanks for watching. It is nice to see less white table showing, john
Yes respect is the perfect word for you!! I have yet to do larger than 1000 pieces and sometimes those make me feel overwhelmed...Great progress, I wish you a Happy New Year and more progress on your puzzle. as always I enjoy your updates. Maybe next month remind us of our predictions. Good luck to you,
@kathylynn1375 Hi again and Happy New Year to you too. Good idea about the predictions, we'll check them out again in next months video.
@@puzzlemethis. looking forward to it... see you then...
Awesome progress, love these updates!
@inge6280 Hi again and thanks so much, john
Happy New Year John. Puzzle looks awesome. It’s really starting to come together. Keep Going. 😊
@user-ky9lz7vo9m Hi again and thanks. Happy New Year to you too. It really seemed like we got a lot together last month, hopefully we can keep the momentum going.
Okay I recently bought an 18000 Ravensburger which you have now convinced me to mix the four 4500 bags together (although you might have actually guilt tripped me) so thank you for being a pioneer in good spirit and giving me the aspiration to boldly go where I have never been before.
@darrylbatchem8985 Hi, that's great!! Which one do you have, Ravensburger has eight 18,000 piece puzzles? Keep me updated on your progress, or if you can, give us CZcams updates every so often so we can all follow along, john
@@puzzlemethis. I have the Paradise Sunset. Great work on what your team has done so far on that Educa by the way. Will you display it when finished?
@@darrylbatchem8985 That's a nice puzzle. I just looked at it and thought I would pick out the different colors, water and trees first. What is your strategy? Sort or not, colors or shape of pieces? I will leave mine together for a little while and then take it apart in sections and put it back in the box on stiff boards so I can put it together quickly if I want to or take it all apart again. I don't want to glue any of it together, then I won't have any options. john
@@puzzlemethis. I dont generally sort jigsaws. I focus on one point that interests me and shake through the box for those pieces specifically and once it is completed enough, it is then time to move onto the next section. That has been my method for 1500-6000 piece but I have never upscaled that to 18000 let alone your 42000 so I hope it still works for me at that 18000 scale. You really should display the completed for the public to pay a token $2 and stand in awe of 42000, or is that just me, respect.
Hey MERRY CHRISTMAS n HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. Great progress and its looking wonderful.
Will miss seeing your puzzling when you finish. I look fwd to your updates. Lol
Hope your coming year is
prosperous.
Ttys.🎉
@jeancarroccino8574 Hi again and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours also. Thanks, we will probably take a break for awhile and then maybe start another puzzle, There are so many that look like fun, john
Great work. The second sort must be a big help.
Look forward to seeing more
@janetsmith5172 Hi and thanks. Yes the second sort really helped. This time I sorted out the old buildings/structures pieces also and that made a big difference too.
Legendary. You seem to be in good spirits. Inspiring.
@proceduraldad2578 Hi and thanks. Yes, we are getting there one piece at a time.
I enjoy your videos so much; I'm glad my brother told me about you. Happy and healthy new year to you and all your puzzling family.
@BethJedrzejewski-ue9gs Hi, and thank you for watching. Your brother is a great guy. I don't know him, but he must be :) Happy New Year to you and yours also, john
17:19 The piece top right of the blue sign goes in the spot 4 pieces below the yellow flying machine :)
@KimDahl77 Hi, Thanks, I'll check it out.
Wow, it's looking really good. Seems much more complete this time. Hi to your family and Happy New Year! 😊
@LadyMystie Hi again and thanks, it did seem that we got a lot more done this moth than usual. Happy New Year to you and yours also, john
Happy new year!! It looks like my guess for when you're going to finish is still holding strong! Haha
@JuliaAlanoo Hi again and Happy New Year!!! I'm sure I remember writing your name down but I didn't see your guess in the book and I looked back through the comments of the past videos and didn't see your guess there either. I remember that you said that we might finish our puzzle before you got yours done but I didn't see a date. I'm sorry, what was your guess again? I'll make sure I get it in the book this time, thanks, john
Happy new year! Wonder progress this month and 1/2 a puzzle that size is amazing work in 2023.
@erickennel9428 Hi again and Happy New Yea to you too. Thanks, yes, finally half done, we are so glad.
Your progress is awesome! Happy New Year! Say hi to mom please! 😀
@palatina6626 Hi and thanks, Happy New Year to you too. Mom will see your comment, she always reads the comments, john
Happy New Year, John! Now that the sky is finished there will be faster progress each month! I guess that at the very end the green pieces (different plants) or the darkest pieces will be left over - they might need a final resorting, perhaps even by piece shape...
@LogicMasterSteve Hi Steve, Happy New Year to you too. Yes, now that the sky is done I can work on other things and i think it is making a difference. I had thought that the green pieces would probably be the last ones left. Sorting them by shape would be helpful, I'm hoping that there is enough color difference so I wont have to, but there are a lot of them so I might have to. john
Happy new year!
What a great update. You got a LOT done. Wow.
I was wondering when you work on the puzzle, are you listening to music oder audiobooks or are all of you talking a lot? I usually do the puzzles on my own and listen to some audiobooks. I am just curious how you do it. 😊
I also want to remind you to make sure to finish the puzzle on April 5 this year. 😁
@tinkerbellarocks Hi again and thanks. It did seem like I had a lot to show this month, hopefully we can keep the momentum going. We will try for April 5, but I don't know if we will make it. It depends on who's here, if I am working by myself I'll listen to classic rock music, if Mom and Dad are here then it's usually country music, and if Jake and Shawna or other people are here, then we are usually just talking. Have you done anything with the 60,000 piece puzzle yet, last I remember you were waiting for it to arrive? john
@@puzzlemethis. Hi John, interesting choice of music. It was "works" best for you. I got my 60k Puzzle last year and started a few weeks ago with the first puzzle (from 60 with 1000pc each). However everyday life got in between. Hopefully I can do one or wo per month. I actually hope for the summer months when it is not that dark in the evening and I can sit outside.
1:27 That's a Street in Budapest (Hungary)
1:34 Piazza Del Duomo belongs to Pisa, Florence or Milan (Italy) Given that there are some Towers visible I would suspect it is Milan Location and their Cathedral
The other one Rege Carolo III should refer to Madrid (Spain) The Triumphal Gate Puerta de Alcala (The Sign is on the top part of its middle Section)
24:35 There is some mistake with the dark blue/gold Pieces right off your hand since the two portrait shapeed pieces have quite the bump to the others. Suspect you need to interchange them to make it fit correctly. The third of the bottom row and the one that is in the "Head" of the last Piece of the bottom row - something is off here. Try to switch them .
Tip my hat for that Project. Got myself a 13200 Puzzle to do for this year. The biggest I ever atempted. It's one from Clementoni with a Herd of Mustangs on it. Where do you gonna put yours once it is done? I mean it is really huge. I just happen to found your channel so forgive me asking. Haven't seen the other videos of that project yet.
@soldiertwoface3690 Hi and thanks for watching, I'll check those things out, we have quite a few wrong pieces (especially in the sky). I have seen that Clementoni puzzle, it looks looks fun. I'll leave mine together for a while and then take it apart in sections small enough to get it back in the box, that way I can get it together quick if I want to, or still be able to take it all apart, john
Hi John !
Are you sure the building you mentioned in this video, at approx12:50, is the "Royal Albert Hall in London"? It looks more like the cathedral of the Sacred Family in Barcelona. Or am I looking at the wrong spot?
@bettyc.6280 Hi bettyc, YES, you are absolutely correct!!!! When I looked at the video before I uploaded it to youtube, I thought that I had mentioned Royal Albert Hall before and then I forgot to check it out. I just looked at the book and Royal Albert Hall is number 68 and Sagrada Familia is number 86. Sorry, I had my numbers mixed up, I'll correct myself in the next video. Thanks for catching it, john
@@puzzlemethis. Glad I could help in your puzzling journey!! 😃
Does the pattern repeat? Curious, if it's a roll calendar die versus a stamped
@fin3125 Hi, yes it does repeat, 3 sections down and 14 across. Of the 14 across, the 6 on the left are upside down from the 8 on the right.
My finishing guess is 08/16/24
Hi, I'll put your guess in the book, good luck, john
