@tinag4262 Hi again, The pieces in the tub seems so long ago. Yes, it's surprising for me to think that all those cardboards were full and we even had the border pieces and some sky pieces on the table because they didn't fit on the cardboards. We had a fun time at work. Everyone got along and there was a lot of carrying on and agitating each other. The guy who started the company was an ex-Amish man who really cared about his employees. john

a new video is always a treat!!! if you mixed all the bags together how can you tell on the puzzle where a bag ends?? You say its still slow going but you can see the finish coming.... dont know if you can do it or not but a live feed when the last piece is put in would be wonderful.... .. I hope you have a party with all your helpers once it is finished!!! and we all get invited.. stay cool up there this summer!!! looking forward to the next update already.......
@kathylynn1375 Hi again and thanks, each bag is 74 pieces across, every 37 pieces (at the edge of each bag and in the center of each bag) is 2 pieces side by side that either has a little tab or little hole, kind of squared off and not a round hole or tab. One side (right piece or left piece) of those 2 is wider than a regular piece also.
Yes, it is getting filled in, just not as fast as we thought it would. I don't know if I can figure out a live feed, but I'll look into it.
I'll probably not have a big party when it's done, just sit around and relax. I thought abut getting air conditioners last year but didn't because I thought that we would be done by this summer. It hasn't been too warm yet this year, except for a couple days. john

Hi, John. You and your friends have certainly made a lot of progress during the month. Well done! We are having a similar struggle with finding pieces for our 3,000 piece puzzle; we have a limited space working on our dining table with pieces on cardboards and in plastic takeaway tubs. Finding pieces that should be obvious is a real problem. Thank you for your monthly reports. You do us good.😊

I finished Karen puzzles 3000 pc puzzle and it was complicated.....getting my summer list ready.....finished Mediterranean Romance.

I did the 24,000 piece puzzle, divided it into 14 smaller sections and used painters tape on the back and hung it on the wall.
@Furbgone Hi, I saw your two video's and was looking forward to seeing the progress, but apparently you are done it already. That was fast!!! That is a beautiful puzzle and so many people who do it hang it up. How about a final youtube vid of it hanging on the wall? john
I just ordered this puzzle, as a fathers day gift. I might get brave and combine the last 2 bags, I wish I had somewhere large enough to work on it as one giant puzzle. I tend to work on large puzzles on poster boards and the 6k piece sections dont perfectly fit so end up having to manage a lot more boards to do these puzzles over ravensburger. I only ever assemble them once at the end for pictures then cut the board to fit back in the box. so I can store it mostly assembled. This puzzle may need to be assembled on my back deck because it is so large
@michaelkucharski4251 That sounds like a good plan. This puzzle being in 6,000 piece sections, is a lot of pieces and does take up a bigger area to work on it. Keep me up to date on how it's going, john

looking so good now :) sometimes its good to do a resorting. and im thinking all the greens should maybe be the next colour to finish completely. im so happy to see the sky without wrong pieces :) great work :)
@katrinboas Hi again and thanks, I am hoping not to have to resort again, but the greens I think I will sort by shape. I was going to save the greens for last, but the puzzle would look a lot more done with some of the green spots filled in. Yes, the sky is looking good, but there are a couple of pieces that just don't look right, but I may be forever switching them around and still not be happy with them, john

Good progress again, John! 3-5 months remaining, I would guess... It will not speed up considerably because you'll have less pieces but more difficult pieces, namely green, in the end.
I stand by my guess of 11.11.2024 (if I remember correctly) and I am "proud" of my guess because I did it very early (2nd guess of all the guesses made). I believe I will not be more than 2 months off. 🙂Keep puzzling!
@LogicMasterSteve Hi again and thanks, Yes, I think you are right, so may of the pieces we have left are just generic looking with no way to tell exactly where they will go. The people who have guessed lately do have an advantage. I think your guess is going to be close unless the pieces start going in faster. john
Always interesting the Progress of your Marathon. Just a suggestion mazbe can you do the walkthrough video side by side? Since the puzzle is so big it is difficult to concentrate and see the differences made there. either way, I am waiting to start to put my puzzle together. cheers..

You’ve all done a great job with this, I’m impressed. What is your cats name? Does the cat jump on the puzzle? Because I’ve had cats that have done that.
@dlrobling4126 Hi and thanks. The cats name is Trouble. He is a really good cat, he doesn't bother the puzzle at all. I have never seen him on the puzzle table, but he has laid on the carboards that are on the lower tubs and knocked some pieces on the floor but not on purpose, just to get comfortable. There is a place for him to lay by one of the windows, so he usually lays there. john

Hi John - great work. I understand your surprise that things haven't appreciably sped up despite all the progress throughout. I am curious how many on your list have already thought you would be finished. I have the opposite prediction . . leap day 2028 !

I’m curious have you worked other puzzles the last year plus or just this 42,000 puzzles? And do you plan to do another huge puzzle in the future? So much fun to watch your progress thanks for taking your time to share.
@conniehemmer1804 Hi and thanks, I have only worked on this puzzle. My puzzling experience had been pretty much one week a year when we are on vacation at the beach (someone always brings puzzle for rainy days). I went from that to what seems like full time puzzling. It has been so much fun though, especially getting to hang out with family and friends, and commenting with other puzzlers. I'm not sure what we'll do in the future. We'll take a break for a while and see what we think, there are some puzzles that look like fun and there should be some new big ones coming out soon. john
5:41 looks like you already found the Birds beak. On the sand-colored piece you can see the tip of the beak pretty sure

Where did you get all your cardboards? Did you cut them to different sizes yourself?
@pennyweiss1974 Hi again and thanks, yes, I'll put your guess in the book. The woodshop that I worked at has a cardboard box making machine. the carboard comes on pallets and is one continuous piece that is folded back and forth on itself like an accordion and fed into the machine. I had the machine cut me 90 pieces, 15 by 32 inches. some of the pieces it cut out happened to be on the folds in the cardboard, That is ok for boxes but bad when it folds and puzzle pieces slide off, so I cut where the folds were and made them two smaller ones. That is why I have different sizes, but it does come in handy when working on specific things that don't need a full piece of cardboard. If you need cardboard, Walmart or any big box store or grocery store will probably give you boxes. My wife worked at Walmart for a while and people would come in and say they were moving and needed boxes and they would give them what they needed. Home Depot or Lowes might have bigger boxes because they sell some bigger things like refrigerators and appliances.

While you are putting pieces in, y'all are putting them in random locations...therefore it doesn't look like any progress is achieved.
What I've suggested in the past is to focus solely on a section & complete that. Getting that solved will give a boost for the next section. My personal suggestions would be doing the sky or plants/trees as you know EXACTLY what to look for.
You also said you had "grid pieces". Try placing them to let your eyes see that you now "have a smaller section" to focus on.
Just my thoughts.
@waynebennett745 Hi again, We have thought about finishing one section, that way we would have the piece pattern for the remaining 41 sections. But Mom and some others go more by colors than by piece shape, and we could sort each thing ( old buildings, new buildings, each color) by shapes and keep them separate that way they could be found either way. We do have the sky mostly done, and the greens I hope will be easier when we get as many other pieces in as possible and have a limited number of empty spots left. Mom has been working on the grid pieces but we still haven't found them all yet, john
@@puzzlemethis. I understand your thinking. My only concern is with a puzzle that size, there are LOTS of places a color might go. For example, you've said in videos that pieces that you thought were 1 location ended up completely different (like was it sand, the pyramids, Building A, Building C, statues, etc.).
Hince why I suggested sky (mostly blue) & plants/trees (mostly green) would be easy starting points.
