If you want to race against us, get this same puzzle on Amazon and then tell us your time! The link is in the video description!
I'd like to see you two compete with a one colour puzzle.
@@biankatoth1786 That would be, like, a ten-hour race 😂🤣😂🤣
Karen, this isn't so much a comment on this great video, as it is just a thank you. I used to be a person who enjoyed jigsaw puzzles as well as crocheting, embroidering, coloring, et.c. But the last 6 months or so I seem to have lost my enjoyment in those things. These last 2 years have been tough on all of us. I suppose it all just finally got to me. Watching your videos and hearing how enthusiastic and upbeat you are about all of them has sparked an interest in crafts and puzzles once again. I no longer feel silly for buying a PuzzleBug puzzle in a dollar store if I find the picture to be exceptionally cute. As long as I enjoy doing it, that's all that matters. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JUST BEING YOU!
@@biankatoth1786 omg yes! I'd love to see how Tammy would do with a solid colour puzzle!
Please get your hands on a Magic Puzzles Company puzzle! I would love to see your reaction when you're finished the base puzzle and then discover the magic.
I definitely didn't expect Karen to win but the fact that she was able to compete on Tammy's level and was actually leading for a bit is incredibly impressive! Great job Karen
I have a lot of techniques to learn from her!
You spoiled the video lol 😭 it's fineee
@@Soloee_ Don't read the comments before watching the video :D
🙁
@@Soloee_ Sorry about that. I would've gone back and added a spoiler tag but then I'd lose the ♥️
I've had the pleasure of puzzling with Tammy, and she does a lot of little things differently from most puzzlers. The biggest one is that she is constantly solving the whole puzzle, never just a section of it.
She doesn't gets bogged down looking for a specific piece. You can really see it play out here as her puzzle had lots of little gaps. Over time, you just find those pieces and they are easy to place.
Seashell.
Seashell
That struck me too, just while watching the video. That plus her laser focus were probably the two things that gave her an edge over Karen.
She puzzles more like me, which made me really happy because my mom always says the way I puzzle isn’t the best even though I’ve finished puzzles before her
@@kaai_9362 ❤ the best way to puzzle is the way that you most enjoy... and speed can be quite fun.
Valentina: [Speaks Spanish]
Haha I forgot I did that! This video turned out so good! I was on the edge of my seat even though I knew how it would end.
I still don't know what you said in that first clip 😂
I believe that the puzzle that you made belongs to the so called Senior Puzzle serie.
They are especially made for seniors whos vision and fine motorskills usually are not as good as they used to be when they were younger.
My father who suffered from Alzheimers, wasn't able to do much anymore except jigsawpuzzles.
Regular puzzles were very frustrating for him because his eyes weren't able to distinguish different shades of colours anymore. To us, the difference was very clear, but to him it was just one blur of green or blue.
These Senior Puzzles saved him a lot of frustration and gave him one last remaining activity he could manage on his own.
And it was something we could do together when I visited him. Conversing became hard, but just being together, enjoying a puzzle with a cup of tea.....
I’m late to this channel, but this comment needs so much more love. What a great idea for a range. How lovely jigsaws could give you shared experiences with your father even though he was suffering from Alzheimer’s. ❤❤❤
@@songindarknessaww, thank you!
I’m coming from the finals of the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship 2022. Tammy McLeod won 20th place with a time of 50:37 and she beat the 2019 runner-up, Mariusz Slizewski by one place (he did a time of 50:48). Kudos to her and to all the participants!
I hope she goes again next year.
Seashell 🙂 I really enjoyed watching this. Thank you!
I love that there’s such a thing as a puzzle competition . And this unofficial one is fun too. Personally I savor my puzzles, drawing them out for several weeks.
Our library had a fundraiser called Puzzle, Pizza and Pub. Teams of 4 had to compete to be the first team to finish a 300 piece puzzle, drink 18 beers and eat a large pizza. It was so popular we had to have 2 nights and the winners each night did it in under 45 minutes. We will be doing it again. People loved it!
omg that is taking it to the next level!
I think I would work on the puzzle while my friends worked on the beer...
@@Skittl1321 a lot of teams used that strategy!
@@Skittl1321 Same here. Not a fan of beer. And combining puzzles with pizza feels a really bad idea. So pizza & beer for the rest, puzzles for me. Feels pretty good.
That’s a lot of beer! 😅
I'm loving the inadvertent Try Guys burn: "I raced the Try Guys, but let's be real ... " >-D
I'm actually gratified that Tammy seemed to use techniques that I also use: just fitting any two pieces together and building small sections rather than trying to complete a section or the edge. I figure that the whole idea of doing a puzzle is to just fit pieces together, and fitting ANY two together counts.
I might recommend for competition a penitential Ravensburger puzzle called "Waters of Venice." This puzzle could replace waterboarding to get confessions out of people.
I love that on first reading your comment, “penitential” seemed like an autocorrect error for “potential” but… nope, you really did mean penitential!
I haven't seen that video, but in a later video Karen mentioned (after her participation in a competition) that working in a team could actually be less effective than individual solve.
What was that, like 5 minutes behind the fastest puzzler in the world, when you don't even practice speed-puzzling?! I think you did awesome. Seashell.
Tammy going from Trash Talking to being Cheerleader is the Character Arc we never we needed.
...we never knew* we needed?
You're right, it was awesome!
Tammy's trash talk for the win! There's only 3 corners! I nearly spit out my tea! 🤣🤣🤣 I love this. Tammy is so sweet. 💯💗🙂
Jana is from Czechia, and we actually pronounce J more like Y as in yoghurt! It was so entertaining to watch the you compete, it's such a different vibe from your usual videos and you did really really well!
That's what it was! The whole time I thought they were calling her Hannah, I was so confused were they got the 'H' from 😂
@@caramelvictim193 Spanish commentators said "Jana" with a Spanish J so it sounded a bit like Hana. :)
I’m from Slovakia and that triggered me so much
In Spanish the J is pronounced like an H (it’s more guttural and comes from the back of the throat so not exactly like an English H) so Jose is pronounced Ho-zay. Jana is pronounced like Hannah
Ravensburger sponsorship 🙌 You’ve made it big, Karen!
My exact thoughts!!!!
"Puzzle friends are the best friends" awww, wholesome. I wish I had a puzzle friend.
I'm Czech and it's so cool to find out a winner to come from my country. We pronounce the name as 'Jana', not 'Hana'. We do love puzzles back home, have you tried looking her on facebook? I'll see what I can do to find her and pass the message on 🤗
So far not as easy, but I found out she is a Math teacher.
I have done exactly ONE puzzle my entire life, and it was after watching your channel for almost two years. I completed a 1000 piece puzzle on about two weeks lol.
I was rooting sor hard for you to finish under one hour!
OMG I can't get enough of this. It's so pure.. So innocent. So fun.
Ravensburger did a mall sponsor through EB Games at the Oshawa Ontario, Canada Mall pre covid. My niece and I entered and the winner of a 1000 pcs puzzle won $200 . We came in last, but it wa fun just seeing how fast people can puzzle and we got to keep the puzzle. We felt we were winners. Puzzling is fun. Keep inspiring.
This was such fun to watch, and Tammy seems like such a lovely person. It looked like you had a great time filming together!
"I mean, quick, knock all your pieces on the floor" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Tammy giving words of encouragement as Karen was finishing was the sweetest thing! What a lovely video!
I’ve only just started watching this channel and it’s so brilliant to see Karen going from here where she says she’s not really a speed puzzler to competing in Nationals and Worlds! Amazing work Karen! Well done for all your hard work! 🐚🐚🐚
Cool. That was fun. “The prize is friendship” is the icing on the cake.
Just thought I'd mention this, but the YT channel Curiosity Inc. - antiques hunter in Edmonton Canada - just posted a video where he found a bunch of antique puzzles from a storage locker. AFAIK he still has them and will be looking to sell them once he does an inventory of the storage locker. You should check him out in case he finds some old puzzles.
I've never been on puzzle youtube before, but I gotta admit I'm lovin it
I would love an interview segment now so we can hear speed puzzling strategy!
I'm definitely planning to make a training video sometime in the future talking strategy!
tammy is so sweet and supportive, she's like yay! go fellow puzzler! so heartwarming 🥰
Omg Karen!!! I'm from Valladolid, Spain and I didn't know this was happening! Thank you so much for your content.
I was worried the whole time that Karen was getting a sunburn! She really did have a handicap with the glare, though. That was great fun to watch.
For at World's - GO, TAMMY! YOU CAN DO IT!
When the spanish for jigsaw puzzle is literal "head breaker"competitive runs' commentary becomes brutal
For real I would watch America's Next Top Best Puzzle Friend as a reality show!
Thanks, Karen! I am from Spain, living in Barcelona, and I didn't even know there was a international puzzle competition going on here. I am watching it now. I have been following you for quite some time and I would love to see you competing next year in Valladolid. You got my support and other fans from Spain. You can count on us! And good luck to Tammy.
Me: wondering if you referenced ANTM or RPDR
Karen: includes both clips 😍
This seashell is bananas!!
seashell! that was so fun to watch! I think you did real well against a world champion!
Really enjoyed this, brought back memories of when I used to do competitions back in the 80's and 90's in Athens Ohio, they used to hold the "National Jigsaw Puzzle" competition there every year👍
I've heard of that one! I wish there were videos!
Banana in pajamas. Can't wait for the rematch!! Maybe make a training video
Tammy reminds me so much of my mother. Especially when I playing the 500 Alladdin puzzle with my mom. Good old memories. Now I bought 4 puzzles and finished 3 of them within a week. LOVE IT. Love remembering and reliving my childhood. Thanks Karen for your channel.
Shout out to Valentina for the Spanish commentary lol. Me hace reír cada vez que yo recuerdo que los puzzles se llaman rompecabezas or “head breakers”
Well well well, here I am, enjoying a the summer breeze and the sea-shells from a place in Spain, just to discover that here in my country the international competition is held... What a discovey!!!
Good, clean, non-violent fun competition. So much better than watching professional sports! Seashell.
The words "wholesome content" are thrown around a lot these days but THIS is what its all about
Lol, I'm from that city and I didn't even know we hosted the world's jigsaw competition. Good luck to you Tammy. Maybe you get lucky and it's another beach scene full of seashells
I'm glad you took the time to note the number of pieces placed after certain time as I was trying to determine how long it'd take to complete puzzles of different sizes. Based on the figures Karen had:
15mins 6.06 pieces per min
15-30mins 5.46 pieces per min
30-42mins 10.33 pieces per min
42-59mins 11.35 pieces per min
57-59mins 17 pieces per min
I wonder how this changes with bigger puzzles. Do they start off slower or the same speed as a 500 piece?
I really think Karen was at a disadvantage because of the sunspot. But it's still great that she had all the seashells together in under an hour. I personally prefer to savour the process, if I hurry it's not fun any more.
Reminds me of music classes. They call it chunking. Where larger pieces of information is sort of concentrated into chunks Instead individual notes or phrases. Like she made a more coherent corner faster while her competitor did the same but in corporated border pieces in that corner. So when the competitor finished the corner she already has the border or further completed.
congratulations to both puzzler! Thanks to Karen for the fun video. Tammy an extra special big congratulations in todays victory over our dear Karen. Tammy best of luck in Spain!
Tammy has a beautiful personality. How sweet, humble, and polite. Enjoyed this very much I hope you have her on again!
What a pretty puzzle! Especially loved the flowers and the big seashell bottom right of the picture. No way could I do this in under an hour!
The true prize is friendship! Love that ❤
Wow, this competition was banana(s), and the beach scene was so pretty you’d think you could pick a seashell right off the sand. Great job with your first competitive puzzle, Karen!
Thank you so much for posting this contest I really enjoyed it! The two of you ladies very sweet and funny and of course great puzzlers! God bless you both !
I just got back from the thrift store and tried fast puzzling for the first time becauee of your videos. My time for this puzzle was 1h27m and then I found this video with the exact same puzzle, and saw Tammy finishing under 1 hour 😅!!! I need to practice haha
Really enjoyed the livestream and was a great video, can’t wait for you and Tammy to do a rematch in Autumn/Fall!! Maybe it could be an all pattern “seashell” or solid colour puzzle 😬😂😂
I think a solid color competition would be incredibly boring to watch 😂
@@KarenPuzzles not at all! I bet all the viewers would love thay!!!!!
4:20 imagine being the person behind Jana, I would be so stressed out😂
I mean, the Try Guys led me to your channel and yes, they don’t count as competition lol
Well now i feel the need to purchase a new 500 piece ravensburger puzzle and see how i do. Since generally i start one, puzzle for 20 minutes, every few days, dragging it out over weeks.
I saw this video, went for the world championship video, and came back here to say: GREAT JOB TAMMY! Congratulations!
oh, this was awesome! can't wait for the re-match :)
also don't bring yourself down, you were amazing, it was your first match and you didn't do speed puzzling before, i know you can do even better next time
When I discovered your channel last year, I never thought I’d become so interested in puzzles as to watch a puzzle competition (I skipped some parts but still). That goes to show how huge of an impact you had on me !
This was the first puzzle I’ve seen with seashells
The fact that there’s a whole competition happening in Spain makes me happy.
Ravensburger is the BEST puzzle company ever =) I love all their puzzles! So thanks to them from me to for sponsoring this video. I am just starting the video super excited to see you and Tammy compete. This was great!! Im super proud of you getting it in under an hour thats definitely impressive =D looks like you guys had alot of fun!
"this is my friend Tammy, the world's fastest puzzler, right?"
"well, i hold a Guinness world record for one so"
😎 that was hella swag
Love the video....Karen, you did really well...There is no way I could complete a puzzle in the time you did....
Seashells are great.
Fascinating to watch!! I feel like Tammy was super strategic at purposefully not finishing sections and leaving sections undone to the end. Made her completion happen so quickly! Makes me want to try to do a speed puzzle against myself or my sister! What a fun video!
I watched both your other "races" so fun to watch. You did amazing 👏 💜 what a cute puzzle love the seashells in a basket🤗
You did amazing, Karen! Loved the video! Thanks for the great content. Hope you had fun making this. I love the pretty picture too, reminds me of picking up seashells on the beach.
Tammy is such a sweetheart! I'm so happy you collaborated with her, and I'd love to see her again.
I love your smile, it really shows that you are doing what you love and I can't be happier seeing you smile and do all these puzzles. Please always continue smiling 😊✨
oh god hearing about that competition from u got me like OMG? i live so close to valladolid and it would've been a dream to go! hopefully u can come next time, it seems like such a fun competition!
If you don’t have plans tomorrow or Sunday, you could still head over and watch the finals!
Karen you did great! Don't discredit how well you did! I could definitely see you being top 20 out of 200 competitors if the puzzles are harder like you said.
I feel like puzzling should be for fun and enjoyment. I love taking my time and actually getting to know the pieces, that way when i am looking for a specific one in a pile, I can find it better because I know the size, the shape of both the ins and outs, the angle of the curves, the small image i need, even if it's tiny. It's just a really cool feeling to be able to pick out one of the pile or box like it was nothing at all because you just see it and know. It's especially more fun when you work on it with other people and pull out the piece saying, 'there's the piece i'm looking for' and you just see their defeated face like 'why am i bothering' and you just get to beat them down LOL ......i know, i got problems, but it's a really cool feeling!
To come that close to a world champ is pretty impressive!
That was a great time! Thanks again, Karen!
Whew!!! Well done.. the suspense was real!
Thank you!
That was a great puzzle. Such colourful pieces, I especially love the seashell! Good times by the both of you. Even though it kind of goes against everything I do puzzles for, I can appreciate the skill it takes.
What a fun video! Good luck to Tammy in Spain. And thanks to Valentina for the filming.
Tammy is so sweet, her energy is infectious, I wanna be friends with her. And obviously she’s a master puzzler. Go Tammy!
Brains lit and fingers on fire. Impressive. Seashell.
Great video 😊 It’s weird and great to see that a brand like Ravensburger that I grew up with as a kid here with their books, games and puzzles is so popular around the world. Hadn’t realized until I found your channel. I visited the museum in Ravensburg once when I was there on holiday and I was incredible fun and when I’m in the area again I’m definitely going again.
Oh and seashell 🐚
I am from Spain and didn’t know about this jigsaw puzzle competition! I just watched the livestream of the first rounds and want to go there to watch in person next year(im not a puzzler myself, but I love to watch puzzling) Hope to see you participating!
I had no idea there was a World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship 😲 I spotted 3 representatives from Romania and I will be rooting for them as well 🇷🇴 Great video as always Karen. Loads of love ❤️
This is absolutely incredible!! I love speed solving 😦 I didn’t even know that was a thing but definitely cool to see!
this is really good with the banter while solving.
Puzzle Friends are indeed the best friend.
You’re both so good and fast with making puzzles 👏🏼😀
Another fantastic video! This was so much fun to watch during the premiere. oh and Seashell!
Exciting and informative competition! It was fun watching you guys. Thanks for letting me know that there is actually a championship puzzling competition. SEASHELL Good luck, Tammy!
The picture in the puzzle makes me want to go on a beach: Drink cooling drinks, collect seashells, go to the beach, eat good food and bask in the sun.
With training Karen could be number 1!! Considering its not been her focus, she did very well. Really fun video to watch ☺️
I think the key is to not worry about getting the edges right away or the orientation of the image. I never start with edges, I start grouping pieces by the colors and details of the image and that gets me started faster like Tammy did. I also do this in puzzle app games where they have an option to not see the image.
I really enjoyed this, I love doing puzzles and regularly finish those that my dad has started when I got to visit on weekends. Love the fact there is a puzzle competition too! I'm in the UK and had never heard of it before. Seashell x
There’s a UK competition sponsored by Gibson
Really fun to watch! You two were amazing - and so friendly for a competition!
Except for when Tammy tried to trick me into thinking there were only three corners 😅
You could see that Tammy was going for a more separated approach, trying to maximize the number of places where 3-4 sides of a missing piece were visible, as opposed to going in more of a front of finished puzzle that Karen did
I absolutely adore you Karen but I have to say I wasn't surprised! 😂 You're both still rockstars! Congrats to you both on the sponsored video as well!
"I mean, quick, knock all your pieces on the floor" JJAJAJAJA
Karen, I am grateful for the positivity you are putting forth into the world! I love your channel, but this has to be my all-time favorite video… until the next one you post! Yay Seashell!
I thought you did great Karen! And Tammy picked as the code word one of my favorite things to collect, seashells! 💛 💛
This was my first puzzle video I have seen/ stumbled upon (and I have see lots haha from mukbang to ASMR) and I highly enjoyed your video. I will also get a Ravensburger puzzle, Karen! Good weekend!
I have lots of other puzzle videos for you to watch too if you want to!
THANK YOU Karen for always putting a lot of your time and effort into content for us!!
That was so much fun to watch. A bit bananas but a sea shelling good time. 😊
This is the comment I was searching for. You really did watch to the end. 😂
