I am from Australia and got the first one of these in the world courtesy of HP more than two months ago. My spec is: - i7 8500Y - 16GB DDR4 - 512GB NVME SSD - 4K Display - Inbuilt 4G LTE It appears we have a wider range of models here in Australia and that may be because the CEO of one our major IT retailers, HARVEY NORMAN, helped to design the product. I have had exceptional battery life and only charge every two days. I also got the 3ye87AA HP Thunderbolt Dock w/Audio. My leather has worn great so far and having had last years Surface Pro, a TOSHIBA X20 and a Lenovo Yoga 920, I much prefer the HP in all aspects.
You said you'd do a 6 month review to show how the leather holds up. It's just now passing the 6 month mark. Do you still plan on doing that 6 month review as you stated earlier?
+1 for a Folio vs Surface Pro 6 comparison. I bought the Surface in the end, because it's smaller and lighter as my second machine for general office work and reading/watching. But I'm keen to hear how the Folio compares for carrying around all day, in and out of a briefcase, on public transport etc. Thanks for the review Marc.

I just purchased one of these (1 week ago ) thinking that if I didn't REALLY like it I would return it. Well I'm going to keep it. I agree with Andrew's comments and the only thing I would add is that when using it in tablet mode it does feel a bit heavy. That and the lack of an SD card slot are the only two complaints I would have. Everyone who sees it compliments its looks.
There are two things i would like them to change: 1. Better performance like a U processor (i don't care if it is gona be loud and i'm curious hiw they would implement it with the leather) 2. A usb type A port Otherwise it's perfect

Great review Andrew, In term of battery life ,you may want to check 1W watt display + without LTE version ,longer battery life and good brightness in direct sunlight outdoors ,It won't disappoint you .
I am moments away from clicking the checkout button for this sweet computer. My only question: who are you using for your data plan, and how much does it cost? Unlimited data? This puppy could replace my laptop, desktop, and iPad! And coming from the Apple world -- It's not expensive at all!

Will it get more beautiful like a messenger bag leather? We would most likely offer these to some of our executives. How is the screen bounce? I would also ding them for putting stickers on the screen, I never like that as they will come off in the end. I like the performance that you showed so these will be an option for the execs to see how they like it.
After 2 weeks or so, the leather still looks great. My guess is over time it will patina and give a nice worn look as would a great leather jacket etc.. I plan to revisit this in 6 months to see how well its has held up.
How does it run Photoshop? I was going to get an iPad Pro but as a photographer I need an actual laptop... Photoshop and InDesign, those would be the programs I would use the most... I was between the Folio and the Matebook X Pro, same price but the Mate comes with the MX150... But the tablet feel of the Folio... I don't know which one to get

I'm waiting for the cost of the laptop to drop a bit as an upgrade on specs is required to make this a laptop last for 4 yrs (considering RAM/processor, etc) It's interesting to note that HP, while aggressive in styling this product, are SLOW at pushing the marketing of it and the recent new updates (like burgundy color leather/4K etc...also I swear that I read some of the models are somewhat ready for a 5G bandwidth sans the new chipset- maybe someone can explain that to me) Speaking of 5G, should I wait for the new chipsets to start shipping before making a purchase? I'm seriously looking at the Spectre Folio, but my usage is perhaps a bit unusual as I generally surf the web in a large leather chair in my living room most of the time. For the most part I tend to rest my 12.5 laptop on one of the arms. I have a Fujitsu which is very sturdy and has no problem in terms of rocking back and forth. I was wondering if given it's lighter makeup if you think this would be an issue with the Folio?
This or the surface pro 7? I use it for everything on office365 work travel, Adobe pdf editing and sometimes some league of legends TFT 🤔 I travel with a work laptop and this would be my second for easier use and travel
Think for the price, it should be Core U processor. Still, good to hear performance is good anyway. Played with one in-store and didn't immediately love the look, but I did like the feel of the leather and like that it stands out from the crowd.

I like it but I think I like the folio more just because it is cladded in leather. it looks so nice! but I wonder, how is the gaming experience using the folio? I know it doesn't have a video graphics unlike the x360 which has the nvidia blah blah blah. but is it enough to run the sims 4 and its expansion packs? i don't really play heavy games. i also like the portability of the folio than this 15 inch laptop that i got. plus, it's cheaper. what about typing on the folio compared to the x360? can anyone test if the laptop charges with a 12w charger? Macbooks charges with 10-12w charger, while dell XPS requires 45w to charge... just wondering how this laptop does.
Have been following you for a while, love your reviews. I really dig the leather on the HP Folio Book. Possible laptop review, Lenovo C630 2-In-1 with Windows 10S and Snapdragon 850. I wonder how that device would work as it supports LTE with Verizon yet it boasts up to 24 hours of battery life.
The score is determined by the average of each category. I think the score is fair and is a good score nonetheless. Of course it is always subjective to an extent. I stated in the video that this may not be fore everyone, so that does play into this as well as price. Overall, this is a very good convertible laptop. Thanks.
This might perhaps appeal more to the businessman rather than woman. That could be construed as a sexist comment, but I'm calling it as I see it. I'm not suggesting that they also do a pink dyed leather, but maybe some feminine embossing in a corner would be more appealing to the ladies who are also professionals? We all know that part of the higher cost for this device is the special leather cover, so one small change, such as embossing, giving a buyer an either/or choice could be a good marketing tool. I mean, Apple now allows pink or rose gold as a choice for the iPad after all! I see the appeal of this particular unit as more for the business professional either way. As far as for the stay at home person, or even work at home individual, the cost might override the looks. Another great video. Would love to know if the leather holds up six months to a year down the road?
I bought HP SPECTRE X360 (2018) 13 inch after watching AMDtech review and I must say, though it doesn't have dedicated graphic card, it can still run Fifa19, NBA2k19, Battlefield 1,Watchdog 1 all in low to medium settings but other AAA games like Watchdog 2, Witcher 3, Tomb Raider 2018, Pubg were very very slow and not playable. Similar is the case with other 2 in 1 ultrabooks launched in early 2018 except dell xps and yoga book. If you can afford external gpu and graphic card then you can buy a cheaper ultrabook with built in thunderbolt 3 port and play highly demanding games powered by GTX 2080 Ti😉. In January, Asus had launched their latest compact and portable rog station pro egpu for $200, which even I am looking forward to buy once it is available in my country.

Touch choice! I think price wise, you get a better value with the Matebook X Pro, more processing power and higher resolution display. But if you need pen support and want a more stylish looking laptop then HP Spectre Folio may be your best bet. It is also a more versatile device. But both are really good. But in the end if you want more power, go with Matebook X Pro.

I guess that is the downside to using real leather. Funny thing is in my Tesla Model 3, they use vegan leather and it actually is really nice. So maybe HP could have done the same. Who knows.

Unless HP will change it for you, I am pretty sure you cannot replace the leather on this laptop.

X360 ryzen is good choice but you should use cooling pad because the laptop is hot when gaming

The LTE model does not have micrSD. Non LTE I am not sure to be honest.
