why is panerai preferred on a leather strap then rubber strap?

Awesome video... but I have 1 question. Why are these dive watches all on leather bands? Wouldn't dive watches be rubber or bracelet?
Great question! At the time, rubber straps were not available and leather straps were used for diving as well. As the purpose evolved so too did water proof straps.
