I find it bizarre that I know exactly how Chris sounds like when he's drunk because I've watched so many of his videos with 0.25x speed. Jokes aside, thanks for another great lesson.
Haha, not far from the truth
Thanks! Your patient timing and comprehensive commentary are the best on YT.
Thank you so much, that’s incredibly kind of you. I’m very grateful for your gratitude
Thank you for this lesson. It is quite a hard song to play but since your videos are easy to understand im already halfway through just from playing it for a day. Thanks
That's fantastic! Great job
I knew this musical piece through Tommy Emmanuel and I only knew this is actually composed by Mason Williams today! Many thanks for the great lesson every week! :)
You're very welcome
Thank you for your patience and ability .
I treated myself to an Acoustic as a retirement present ( 50 years too late ) and honestly can't put the thing down ...
Six months in , my fingers tips are like leather and I have taught myself enough chords to play songs I never dreamt possible
(ha-ha ! I laugh in the face of my frozen shoulder / stiff neck / arthritic fingers, all perfectly offset by simple pleasure & big fat tears - of joy & pride )
"Gas" has always been a favourite , and you have put it firmly within my reach .
Thank You doesn't seem remotely sufficient but
T H A N K Y O U anyway .
That’s really amazing, I’m so pleased you’ve finally found the guitar and that you can’t put it down. Sounds like you’re making some incredible progress with it. Just keep going, it only gets more and more enjoyable! Thanks a lot, Chris
@SixStringFingerpicking amazing coincidence Chris - as your message came in, I am looking at you on my laptop and practicing the hammer-on S2B Fr1 Am of the intro . Now THAT must be a good omen!! Thanks again for what you do ... Andy
@@a.c.4732 Haha, it must be!
Gas is my “old man on the porch playing on repeat” goal I have. 37 now, picked up guitar at 16, put it down for last 8 years but I’m back baby! Nothing is better than 6 metal string and a piece of wood
Very well done. I have always wanted to learn this song. Thanks for this lesson.
You're very welcome, enjoy
Brilliant! Thank you Chris👍
Thank you very much! Best tutorial I´ve watched of this wonderful piece!
Hi, I learned this piece more than 30 years ago, and the part which is on the fifth fret I was taught differently. I never could master it but i think I could get this. I love Mason Williams. I never cared for Tommy Emmanuels version although i like his own music. Apologies to his fans.. no offence intended. Thanks so much. This is one of my favourite pieces of music. You've made my day.
Great lesson Chris...I've messed around with this song for years not really playing it correctly. This lesson is clearly demonstrating the correct phrasing and chord voicings. Thanks so much for a stellar lesson!
You’re very welcome, really pleased I could help you out
Thank you for the lesson, Chris.
Really nice job ! I already have tabs for this song and even Mason varies things a little so I just try to do the best I can with it, but It's a trip no matter how you shake it. Thank You.
I have learned a good part of the intro in years past, now thanks to your excellent instruction I can complete my goal. Thank you
That’s great, thanks
That’s great, thanks
Awesome!! Thanks from Spain!! Good job!!
My pleasure
Wow... impressive coincidence. After learning Angi like a madman for 3 months now, Classical Gas was suggested to me on your homepage. But your tutorial is very sparse, I thought... and 2 days later comes this video.
I say goodbye then times again for the next few months =) Your videos make a big difference for me. Many thanks for that!
Learned more in this one video than most the others that are on video playing this song. Thank you sir!
That's so great to hear, thanks a lot
Thanks so much for this tutorial man! I can't read tabs and I have learned to play lots of songs from your channel. Thanks alot 👍👍👍
That’s great, happy to help!
This is great Chris . I started on this tune a few years ago but found it to be a bit above my skill level at the time . I doubt I’ll have too much trouble this time around though . Thanks .
That's great, hope you enjoy learning it!
i didn’t know what a d7 was! thanks for clarifying
Great rendition of the piece. It's a bit beyond my ability at present - could probably only play parts of it but will give it a go!
Definitely worth having a go!
u are the best on the tube!! what model Cordoba is that...sounds very spanish!!!!
Thanks so much! It's a C12, yeah I have the action set low more like a flamenco player would.
appreciate u! u are the best fingerpicker !!@@SixStringFingerpicking
I think there's a bit too much going on there for me 🤣 I might have a go at the intro though 😁
It’s not so bad when you slow it down
Great lesson. One question, why hold down the full F chord on the buildup before the chorus? Seems like you only need the bar on the 1st fret and the second fret on the third string?
Thanks, it’s just habit
Dry helpful
Very lovely. I see you're incorporating classical guitar more and more into your videos, thinking of getting one myself, the wide neck is a little off putting though
Yeah I really struggle with the wide neck but don’t let that put you off
There are many "classical guitars" that have narrower necks. The standard is 2 inches. But Cordoba as well as Taylor amongst others, make nylon string guitars narrower.
How does this compare to Cavatina please?
Great video. 😊
Thanks, they're probably around the same level of difficulty. Perhaps Classical Gas is slightly easier. It's hard to say
Great lesson as always Chris, but this one is a ways down the road for me just yet, those chord changes make my eyes go blurry, so I'll quietly step aside and just watch you for now!
Thanks a lot, maybe it's one for your future repertoire
Nice video. Would have been great had it shown tabs along side the lesson
Thanks, I would but it breaks copyright laws
that makes sense that was a great video ~
5o plus years ago,I'd hear this song on the radio,I should've got a guitar to.learn on then,I was 7 or 8 yrs old.
It's not too late!
Please do May You Never by John Martyn!
why am i getting a 403 error msg when I click on the full tab and lesson short link?
Just tried the link myself and seems to be working fine. Perhaps clear cache
Hi Chris can you make a tutorial of blue moon by Tommy Emmanuel
No judgement on anyone's ability here but I think only Tommy Emmanuel can teach his songs, he is superhuman 😂
Maybe one day I will. I'd probably do my own arrangement of it though
@@Rosskles 😆
Difficulty 6? Is that your first one at that level? Great tune.
It is a great song. I've recently changed the difficulty levels from 1 - 5 to 1 - 8
Maybe in 10 years I will have enough skill to master this song. 😅
