This is my rendition of the famous Classical Gas by the fantastic guitarists Mason Williams and Tommy Emmanuel. It was an amazing experience to dive deep in the music of such genius guitarists. I hope you enjoy it!

I remember hearing Tommy Emmanuel in a Sydney pub, play his reimagined version of Classical Gas almost 40 years ago now in the early 1980s. It was very inspiring to hear someone play a version that wasn't a carbon copy clone of the original.
I always wondered what it would sound like if someone played a reimagined rendition of Tommy's version. It's taken me 40 years since then to find out, but it was worth the wait.
This CZcams guitar archive of guitar pieces created by Lucas will live forever. In years to come Lucas will be acknowledged just like Tommy, as being one of the greatest, most technically proficient and creatively original fingerstyle guitarists that has ever lived.

First time I've seen a cover of this song that nails the energy and nuance of Tommy Emmanuel's cover. This is one of the single best performances I've ever seen.
It's overplayed and lacking in softness. It's beautiful like a tie-died shirt is beautiful.
@@kurtpena5462 Sometimes softness is overrated. I love his flamenco take on the piece. I can hear anyone play Classical Gas - hell I can play it myself - but to see one of the best guitarists showcase his talent with a song that has been done many ways - but always sounds the same ol - that's pretty incredible.

Bloody brilliant ! I've had the music to this for the ukulele for ages but didn't know what it sounded like or if I knew it and I have heard it before and like it so now I,m going to give it a go.... Obviously not going to play it like you as your brilliant but to those that say you put them off playing don't !!!!

When I was a kid, seeing Mason Williams play Classical Gas on the The Smothers Brothers show made me want to play guitar. I always said that, if I learned to play Classical Gas smoothly, then I would answer the question, "Oh, you play guitar?" with something other than, "um, poorly". For some years now, I've said, "yes, I do". Now I've seen this, and I'm back to, "um, poorly".
Impressive to say the least. I always loved the original version played by Mason Williams but this guy took it to another level .
My Dad is a huge fan of Tommy's. I played your version for him and he was almost speechless throughout. His words " I can't believe it". Your ability, god given and self crafted, is incredible. Very well done.
This is the most INSANE version of classical Gas I have ever seen.

I get a certain satisfaction from seeing and hearing someone play the guitar very differently than the way I do, in a way far superior than I will achieve - including in my own style. I get to enjoy his excellence and not let my ego or fear of not being good enough myself ruin the experience. I just see a dude totally killing it on the guitar, and have a blast listening to it.
Hands down the greatest guitarist ever, as he doesn't just play better than anyone I've ever seen and heard, but his creativity in making his personal arrangements isn't something that can be taught. Pure talent.

Uhh.. his bio says he began studying in a conservatory at the age of 10. There are no shortcuts, only consistent dedication and hard work. Countless hours of it.

@@lukeism2 They could if they had trained for it. If they had been passionately optimizing their training under the best possible tutelage. But that's my point, they didn't. And especially not from a young age which is key. This remarkable and yes talented individual had the best possible advantages at his avail and was willing to dedicate himself to the craft. He pushed himself to improve to become as good as he could possibly be. Lots of players who've been playing for decades just do the same, tired old shit. They say the same kinds of things like 'I could never do that' so they never even bother to try. And that's on them.

Is this classical gas? It's barely recognizable. Don't get me wrong, the man has amazing skills, but this version makes Hendrix's national anthem seem downright traditional.

BRAVO! Playing like fire and wind, maestro Lucas recomposes and shows the writers how their songs should be played. He takes guitar music to the outer limits of heaven. Love how he runs out of guitar and goes all the way up the neck and hits the A Stinger at 6:06.
I guess that's about the most astounding performance on an acoustic guitar that I've ever seen. So many amazing things to say about it...like using every bit of the neck, standing up with the guitar with no strap attached and still continuing to play like that...surprisingly the guitar stayed in tune through such a vicious performance.....just wow.
Quite possibly the best guitar player who ever lived. When you think he's done the impossible, he comes back and outdoes himself, surpasses himself. Lucas simply takes the guitar to unexplored jungles, undiscovered continents.
His virtuosity, fugue and lyricism are unparalleled.

Exquisite sound. Irrepressible style. Unfathomable fast-twist muscles. And deadly precision. He's very much not playing the guitar. Rather, he's fully releasing everything it has to offer...as an extension of his being. You get the same vibes watching Tina S play. You can really immerse yourself in Mr. Imbiriba’s music and the visual of him playing. Who can think about anything else while watching his amazing performances!
Seen this 3 times now and am still blown away by the sheer level of skill. How on earth do you become this good. Every note and chord perfectly played and with such speed and dexterity up and down every inch of the fret board. A delight to watch.
If I’d have seen this guy when I was in my 20’s I’d have probably given up playing. Now I just appreciate him for someone of whom has mastered the instrument. He IS one of the very best I’ve seen. If not the best!
