“I think that’s what it is that they’ve captured in this record - the beauty of thoughts”
Amazing summation of the album
The last song goodbye has a the first lyric from every song in the album from last to first. She did this because when you wake up from your sleep, you remember the dreams you just had than earlier ones
not all first lyrics from the songs, but rather picked out of the songs, like "I'm the bad guy" from the chorus
@@lexhilic also all the good girls go to hell
@@lexhilic yeah only bad guy and atgggth use lyrics other than the first lines
@Esther Elias not the second part
@Esther Elias The reason she did it though, i did not know
I love how you speak about the music in technical terms. I'm not a musician, but this stuff really interests me!
Haha I read this comment and then heard her say "--dirty base with the WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP" during Wish You Were Gay and it made me laugh. 😂
nutmeg418 yu ni g
1. The end of bury a friend connects with the start of ilomilo
2. Goodbye are all of the album songs first line except bad guy and atgggth
No atgggth is inside too
@@mangotangotomato6289 They mean that those songs have excerpts that aren't from the start of the song and not that they aren't in there.
Lmao. I was like: "there's a song in the album named atgggth?" Then I realized it was all the good girls go to hell😂😂😂
Also listen before I go I love you goodbye make a sentence and they r about suicide so that’s why all the darkness and sirens and emergency calls
She says I’m the bad guy at the end of goodbye
what you said about the chorus in Xanny is so true. Like, it hurts me and I have no idea why. Great video!
the bass and manipulation on her voice is very harsh, idk how to explain it either hahaaha
i think it's because the very low bass is affecting / distorting the rest of of the audio in that part (particularly the vocals). the slow vibrations of the lower notes are making themselves heard in the higher previously unaffected elements of the song- it's kind of the equivalent of putting a really fast volume LFO on something, making it get louder and quieter at a super fast speed, only the LFO is moving at the same speed as the waves of the low note that the bass is playing. idk if i explained that well at all, i'm very much still an amateur, but i hope this at least helps a bit :)
If you listen with good speakers it waves from one speaker to the other. It sounds so crazy.
@@stardewstar the term for the exact effect you are describing is called intermodulation distortion, where lower frequencies modulate the higher frequencies, exactly like a super fast lfo/tremolo sort of deal!
@@FOHFILMS ah nice, thanks for the info :^)
This reaction is maybe the best one I've ever seen to an album. I just adored the way you really dissected and picked up on the structure of the song and vocals and then quantified them in a way that is so interesting, helping me to understand WHY I like what I hear. This video is amazing, thank you so much.
This comment needs to be higher up :) You got exactly what I love about her reaction.
You're so intelligent and intuitive, watching your first reaction was like watching my second or third after getting past my sheer awe of Billie and Finneas. You used a bunch of my favorite words and on the whole sounded like a mix of my favorite chorus advisors and my best friend rolled into one woman. Instant subscribe.
So spot on about the chorus for Xanny literally if you watch any of her on that song it’s literally supposed to make you feel uncomfortable you’re a genius 🙌🏻😭
Listen to bury a friend again and continue to ilomilo because the outro of bury a friend is connected to the intro of ilomilo.
I don't know if you've heard Lorde's Melodrama album but if you haven't would be SO GOOD to make a reaction/review to that album!!!
YESSSS. My fave album of all time
Yess please please Nina!! ❤️❤️
I love them both soooo much! She definitely needs to check her out if she hasn't already
omg yes!!
Yessssss
I know nothing about the technicalities of music, chords, head voices and what not; but I really enjoy listening to others talk about it. I enjoyed this video, you’ve got a new subscriber 💗
Me untoo and I've learned a lot whatching this kind of videos
goodbye uses all the first sentences/words in the album.
Take me to the roof
(listen before i go)
Told you not to worry
(ilomilo)
What do you want from me?
(bury a friend)
Don't ask questions
(my strange addiction)
Wait a minute
(8)
Don't you know I'm no good for you?
(when the partys over)
Baby I don't feel so good
(wish you were gay)
And all the good girls go to hell
(self explanatory)
Bite my tongue bide my time
(you should see me in a crown)
What is it about them?
(xanny)
I'm the bad guy
(bad guy)
Also:
It’s not true
(I love you)
But the first words of bad guy is white shirt
James Quinn true, for bad guy and atgggth she used another sentence
Myricall yeah I think maybe she used like a snippet from all of her songs on the album not the first words
James Quinn from most of the songs she chose the first sentence, but for some a snippet yea
It's so nice to find a reactor who actually knows music
Yours is the first reaction from someone where I didn't zone out or skip through when you started talking about the more technical aspects, it was actually really interesting to listen
In "i love you" the voice in the background wasnt an emergency hotline voice, i thought it was that too but it was a flight attendant talking about emergency exists on a plane, wich makes since because that whole song is about not wanting to change her relationship and wanting an "escape" from love, and the line during it Billie sang was "up all night on another red eye" like a red eye plane
*its👏so👏good👏*
I’m sure you got it but listen before I go is about suicide. It translates with the City sounds and it makes me feel like I’m standing atop a building looking over the city. It also ties in with the sirens and there is people screaming at the end along with a final timpani roll with a large bass drum hit. It’s so beautiful. Also the last three songs form like a sentence, ya know like. Listen, before I go, I love you, goodbye. I think it’s a creative way to end the album and I absolutely adore it.
One of the best reaction videos, very informative. 👍
Beautiful review/reaction. I enjoyed it very much and my no1 fav track on the album is "ilomilo" as well.
i love ilomilo aswell :)
Same! :)
Same it means so much to me kskskssbdjdh
6:12 Actually saw an interview where she said that was the exact purpose!
You need to watch the videos!!! It adds a whole new layer of intrigue
fun fact: billie recorded all of these songs in fineas’ room, *not* in a studio, what many people think
This is one of the best reviews and reactions ever! Everyone else just scream and/or cry to the songs but you actually pick each and everything you like that no one else, nor I would of picked up on. I appreciate you and your videos!
i love your inputs, it shows me things I've never heard and gives each song more meaning in my opinion. I'm also learning a lot too !!
I love how you explain the instruments and vocals. It helps me appreciate the music more
i love your breakdown of things. i've been near-marathoning different music coach and critic and reactors videos for Billie, just to see more people get hype about her like me, but i Loved the way you broke things down in words that i could understand, and gave insight into how some things work. New fave. *subscribed*
The same here with me
In “I love you” it says “on another red eye” referencing towards late night flights and so it’s airplane attendants talking about the instructions
My fav album got so much better after watching this.. BUT HOW? 😂Best reaction and review. Thank you!
EXCELLENT reaction thank you so much I Love Billie & Finneas and really appreciate the way you break songs down I'm a musician as well (60 years old) and when I heard this album it was like a bolt of lightning ripped through my soul, it's so real and refreshing
And I still listen to Billie & Finneas songs everyday
Thanks again!
i love how you’re listening to both the technicalities of the song, but still also listening to the lyrics and whether it sounds good, a very in depth look on the album :) ❤️
I reallyyyyy enjoy this review of Billie's songs and how you explain all the Complexity and Simplicity of all the souds in her music. This review was excellent. 5/5.
And also..this whole album was recorded in finneas’s bedroom in the small house they grew up in California with no help. None of this was recorded in an actual studio.
23:32 yes she performed ilomilo as a debut live at coachella !
Finneas (billie’s brother) is the musical genius behind Billie. The combination of these 2 artists can’t be beaten
Yep, they would be good separately, but together they are incredible.
I really like how you give more of an analysis of the production and what’s happening in the songs. It was interesting to see another perspective of this music that I wouldn’t have thought of.
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSS
i love the way explain the songs and everything. most extensive album reaction ever, bu the best one
In xanny she said that she wants you to feel uncomfortable ❤️😊
Love your reactions and how detailed you are, while also enjoying the music! :)
SUBSCRIBED!! I just saw your reaction to Demi’s performance on the Grammy’s, which was amazing! Then I searched through your video’s for a reaction to Billie Eilish and saw you did one for her album - I love that you react to ALL parts of the song - her voice, the production by Finneas & the meaning - it was very refreshing!! I beg you to look up & react to some of her live songs, in particular the acoustic ones - there’s a lot of criticism on how she isn’t singing, she’s “whispering” blah blah blah - there’s a reason she has the success she does, her style is different but very raw and if the critics can’t see that then they clearly haven’t listened to much of her music! Anyways - thank you for your reaction! Much love!
"Like sharpening a knife " that's exactly what it is
it’s incredible how you are able to listen to every single sound
Last song is one line from each song in reverse chronological order.
It took about 3 or 4 listens to realize in 'Goodbye' every line is one from the previous songs going backward. My mind was blown when I realized it xD
My favorite songs is all of them : ]
This reaction was fantastic! Great to hear so much time spent on every song and the elements making them up
I really liked your take on the music. Also when you said like a grace note but slurred, it brought a smile to my face and reminded me of band in highschool ❤
Your reviews are always top notch. Damn. I have been waiting for this analysis. On point!!!
I read a comment somewhere the album in chronological order is a sort of toxic relationship development. Like every song is a feeling you have in a toxic relationship and at the end (goodbye) everything reverses again and you get the thing all over again
Also the sounds you hear in the background also have a story behind it but the only thing I've figured out by now is that with listen before I go she jumps from a building (probably) and she ends up in the emergency room in I love you
Bonus: goodbye is all the beginning sentences of the songs in reversed chronological order
Carmen Chi in i love you it’s actually a flight attendant talking about the safety instructions and the plane takes off! just thought you like to know :)
The kind of propeller noise to her chorus in xanny reminds me of when I was a kid and i would sing/talk into the fan
I think it sounds like a tiger purring in Bad Guy. I believe they just stacked her voice with the bass. But I LOVE IT.
Been waiting for this
Great Nina, the excitement with the detail of the breakdown. Very enjoyable. Thank you, RCM
I love you reacting this things, your such an impressive musician, love you, keep going!
Dude, you really know your stuff, thanks for the technical analysts....
this was amazing to watch, i like billie so much and the more i can understand of what she is doing with her songs the more i like her
I love this!! 😍 I'm learning so much. "I don't think she wants me to be comfortable." Sums up Billie pretty well 😂
Edit: you mentioned Hide and Seek!! Yes!!! Such a great song. I do feel the similarities now with When the Party's Over.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 your analysis style and reaction to music is Incredible
Can't tell you how many times I've watched this video. Love your reactions and knowledge of music. That little part where you hum the prechorus of i love you kills me every time. Much love
I love your reaction to Billies album of when we all fall asleep where do we go ☺️❤️ xx also my fave tracks are basically them all but I love the first track for the album for the front cover which is bury a friend 💙 x
I living for your analysis
i love your reactions so much!!!!!!!
you're so smart. i learned a lot from your insight. brilliant!! 💗💗
Love your analysis. Helps me understand Music in general and the brilliant Billie and Phinius. Thank you.
Best reaction/review of this album out there!
I really enjoyed the way you went through each song and pointed out bits and pieces. it was really lovely to watch :)
Excellent review! Pointing even the tiny little things.
You should give a try on Aurora, she is an great artist too
Your review is so appreciative and detailed, I love hearing new things about the production 💞 Also, your voice is so lovely and clear 💌 Hugs from Poland, take care darling🍯
if you listen closely to the lyrics on 'wish you were gay' you can hear that she is playing around with counting and numbers
This is the reaction I’ve always wanted ❤️
The way I Love You sampled Hallelujah in the chorus 😍
Wow , Thank you for that review. The way you broke it down was very informative and enjoyable.
Great video Nina!!! Really good insights!
Sorry if duplicate but I love their use of of dichotomy in their music. Either a hard beat and soft lyrics or soft beat and biting lines. Every time they surprise you with what you were expecting next. And let's give Fineas a ton of arrangement credit
You are so sophisticated in your analysis of Billie. I have found three other reactors out of at least thirty or more reactors that are able to dissect a musician or song that are able to add a lot to understanding of it all. I am happy to add you to the list of the brilliant reactors. As an American, I am sad to say that three out of the four (now) great reactors are from the United Kingdom. Well done for you!
I am able to announce that you, among the only of the great reactors able to hear the other instruments in a song, as well as the voice. You should be a conductor or a composer, if you are not already.
You’re very informative and I really love and appreciate that :)))
You've probably already heard it, but if not I would LOVE for you to react to Melodrama by Lorde
i absolutely loved your video
Love your Billie videos!
I love your video's you help me understand music so much better😌
Brilliant review
Yaaas been waiting for this video love your reviews 💕💕🎶🎶💕💕
Billie’s music really is just a feast for your ears. It makes you crave it. Brilliant..
You have a very lovely and calm presence it is so easy to watch you
one can really sense the passion and knowledge in the way you talk about this, great video :D
Love love love your reactions and notes... would love (that's a lot of love) to see your reactions to her covers of Call Me Back, You Don't Get Me High Anymore & End of the World. She brings a totally different vocal quality to these songs than her own and it's simply beautiful!
I️ love this album!
Thank you for bringing in some music theory in your analysis!
oved ur reaction sooo muchw
How on this Earth does she only have 9000 subscribers? Her content is better then most
Finally !!!!!!!
nina, u react to the best music thank u!
You had me at ABBA comment, instant subscribe even before finishing the video
I would love for you to react to LOVE (it's out now, and eventually FEAR in two weeks) by Marina. She's got a gorgeous way of writing that I would love to hear your take on.
And reaction to her song Froot.
Your thoughtful analyses of this and the other Billie Eilish tracks you've covered set me speculating about what directions she and Finneas might take, as they gain confidence and perhaps broaden their musical boundaries. They have already demonstrated an interest in risk-taking with vocal styles, rhythm, samples and instrumentation, as you have pointed out. It clearly delights you as it does me. Other serious commentators have also seen tantalising glimpses of possibilities - they point to the opening salvos of Don't Smile At Me and WWAFAWDWG, concluding ... ' and this is only the beginning ... ' Billie says that before she discovered and was overwhelmed by hip-hop, she was exposed to an eclectic smorgasbord of music at home, including Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra and The Beatles. For influences post-Ocean Eyes, there's a fascinating 10 hours of playlists under the Beats 1 label (CZcams - Groupies Have Feelings Too), curated and presented by Billie and Finneas, which has introduced me to a whole world of great music I'd never heard before. One of her more recent influences, she says, has been the Norwegian singer-songwriter, Aurora. So I imagined, if she followed that particular cold, dark and unsettling Scandi thread, she might end up producing something like Anna Von Hausswolff's "Funeral For My Future Children" (CZcams) ... a dramatic step up from burying a friend? Anna's Swedish but lives in Denmark, home of another fiercely individual singer-songwriter, Agnes Obel. I figure that if Billie gets keen on traditional strings under the influence of Hans Zimmer, she could produce something like "The Curse" (Berlin Live Session) (CZcams). Complete fantasy of course, as I said, but at the age of 18 ... anything/everything's possible! Ron (Australia)
thanks that was really enlightening!
Everytime she pauses it I'm like Nooooooo😂
Enjoyed it quite a lot. Love Your videos as always! This album is very interesting but on the same level, very disturbing. I kinda think that it is meant to feel that way whilst listening to it. Also visuals are even more disturbing than the sounds, yet unique :) definitely would love to hear your reaction to Honey - new album from Robyn. 😌
This has given me life!
I Love the wayyyyy she reacts
