Thank you for not just showing us HOW to install mods but also EXPLAINING what everything means. I've learnt something from watching your videos and just wanted to say thank you. Even all these years after your original upload this video still holds up. Props to you sir.
Your mod videos are literally a gift from the Gods. So incredibly simple and clear to follow. Thanks a lot Gopher!
Love it!
Just got the game and I'm impressed by the level of immersion and the mod community is great!
Great video
Just wanted to thank you so much. I've had such an easy time with Skyrim but Fallout 4 has given me a real pain. You helped me a ton so I appreciate it
This was a very easy to understand and helpful tutorial. Thanks Gopher. Subbed and liked.
You sound like the narrator of the game "Sir, you are being hunted"
Thank goodness for your guides Gopher this was pretty useful in learning NMM since I've only ever used mod organizer.
M' lord Gopher, watched ur videos around 2016/17, later in 2020, always modding skyrim, and now that i step up for modding fallout I find myself hearing again that friendly voice. Thanks for this amazing guides man
thank you! I would never have figured this out on my own
Gopher. 4 years ago I first watched your tutorial about modding F3. Then I watched your tutorial about modding FNV, then finally Skyrim. Now I'm watching your tutorial on modding F4. Getting Bethesda games and watching your tutorials are like a past time now. The second I got F4, I went to your channel and loaded up your modding videos. I'm downloading mods while I download F4 on Steam right now. That dialogue mod is my first priority because I actually waited until that mod came out before buying the game. The mod community always comes through for us though. Question, what about f4se?
Brand new PC gamer here, tried to work nmm myself and had no luck. This video was a big help (but I do feel really dumb for not figuring it out myself). Thank you so much!
dammn thanks bro your edits to the ini files was what many people failed to mention now its working for. subscribed!
Thank you!
+LoneVaultWanderer Get back to making videos, I want to hear your voice, damn it!
Y...yes sir
+thebestofenergy hahahahaha
+LoneVaultWanderer hey gentlemen, do i have to pay for this, on the nexus website it says its "free" to signup but then i always get redirected to the plans page where you obviously have to pay, im not really or am i not seeing something, would appreciate some help thanks
Ahmad Amali You don't have to pay.
By paying and becoming a premium you basically get faster download, but you have access to all the mods by just signing up.
THANK YOU. YOU ALONE TAUGHT ME HOW TO INSTALL MODS :D.
5 yr old video and still one of the best mod help setup on the CZcams. Thank you! once more I'll will turn Fallout 4 upside down with mods.
THE BEST tutorial video i've ever seen, along with all your videos explaining nexus and mods.
thank you very much :)
Instead of complaining about problems, I'm going to Like, and subscribe, while giving you Gopher, a hearty pat on the back for making the most clear and understandable mod installation tutorial. Especially for someone like me who has never even heard of Nexus before and has only ever used the Steam Workshop. Thank you for the great video Gopher!
Thank you :)
hi gopher do nexus and bethesda.net mods play nicely together
Question, is this the same with Patch 1.8.7?
yeah, it's very clear and I understood it at the first time I watched . Thanks
srgtgunner thats cool and all but no one cares
Man,your voice is so beautiful and smooth to my ears...
Gopher I thought I would send you a message of appreciation, as I didn't know why in the world any of my Fallout 4 mods were not working until I had to adjust one of the files in my Documents library. It seems as though my old days of manually modding still haunt me to a point!
Gopher Thank you so much. All other videos i found just didn't have your details, what i needed to know. I tested it with your tutorial, and it's all gravy. :)
if the .ini doesnt show, you have to click view in the window options and turn on 'view file extensions'
+Dante Kuname thank you
+Dante Kuname Thanks.
You are going to go to heaven when you die
Thanks a lot..this is really help !!
thank you take this W
I love you man. Now if only you can make a simple video on how to download FNIS for Skyrim. That sucks and i cant figure it out!
+ryan best czcams.com/video/XLZ2OLK4k68/video.html Is that what you need?
I just got FNIS to work! However i just ran into a big problem with Fallout 4 modding. Whenever i go to My Games, then Fallout 4, the files i need aren't there because i must've deleted them when my game wouldn't boot up. The only file that is there is Saves. I do not know where the other files went. I tried deleting and reinstalling Fallout 4 really hoping the files would magically pop back up but sadly they did not. Do you have any suggestions? I'm freaking out!
I tried deleting every file on my computer that says Fallout 4 and am now going to install it once more. Too bad its going to take 7 hours.
if i did the reinstall thing, it may take me a day to finish it coz im playing crack version n i forgot how to do the installing. huhuhuhu T^T
YOU SAVED MY GAME, the .ini files you said to change really saved my game, i had mods on my old comp and now on the new one i was wondering why none of my modds where loading in. and once i edited that, it was all fixed, thanks so much!!!, liked, and subscribed
Thank you! Thank you for making it clear for me. I've been wanting to play Fallout 4 but hesitated to use mods since I read it here and there how tedious the process was compared to Skyrim. Now that's been cleared of, I can start playing Fallout 4 with mods.
Thank you
i can listen to this dude voice all day.... it feels like im in 16th england century
How lol?
Am I the only person here who's having an issue with the textures of mods from Nexus loading? Everything else works fine, but the textures.
Thank you very much! Before I tried with NMM, as you showed me, I thought it was going to be too difficult! Thanks again!
Thanks Gopher! Guide is super easy to use! Thank you for putting in the work dude!
you’re a legend
I swear I keep seeing you on like every channels comments section
@@bizzarebear which videos
Why?
За "English Subtitles" отдельное человеческое спасибо.
you're remarkably good at explaining these things. well done, sir.
This was a great help, I've always had trouble installing mods and but this was so clear.
is this recent? is this up to date for the new updates?
lol nobody said yes but its pointless for me to say it now but yes even today it is
😳
DO A 2019 VERSION.
Should still work the same according to some above comments. I'm going to give it a try and see if it works smoothly!
2021...
@@bandage4uhoney520 its still the same, i just went through the process and had no issues. You literally just type in "download nmm" and hit the first link and go through with the download process and follow the video
At first i thought this was really simple and i didn't need any tutorials, but i did not do few minor things showed in this video.
Thank you!
I have come back to your video so many times its embarrassing, but i'm so glad your channel is here.
Is it still valid? NMM told me to check their wiki and follow their instructions.
can you update this to a 2019 version
@@PortableFreezer Yes
@@PortableFreezer I have used this guide for over 3 time on 3 different pcs, it just works
Madfrazzer do you know where I can watch a guide for it??
it's not needed: it works the same exact way
Use amid Organizer
I double click the .ini to open in notepad automatically. Used to open notepad and drag the script into it.
Can't thank you enough for this video.
Gopher you're a life saver, I fucked up and deleted fallout 4, but kept all my mods still active, while my fallout 4 data folder wasn't set up to run mods.
updated ! *updated* ! **updated!**
+Nutshell2K do you even update bro?
so i have to remove the prevous TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\ edit in the fallout4.ini?
+PampersNorway You can revert it back to default if you want, but actually it does not matter. The one in custom over rides whatever you have set in Fallout.ini.
Just know that it does not do the same for the Fallout4Prefs ini file. Just the Fallout.ini one.
thanks for the quick reply m8.
+Gopher when i start up NMM it shows a huge window that says gaming detection or something and it scans a bunch of games, after it was done, it asked what files youd like the mods to go to or something, and there was 2 on top and one in the middle and possibly one at the bottom, but the top on of the 2 at the top, i put the file as the fallout4 data and whenever i open up NMM and select fallout4 it says the permissions cannot write for this or something and its really annoying as fuck please help? you added none of this in your tutorial and its super confusing and a pain in the ass
i had the same problem.
Uninstall and manually sett up the folder you want, where you want it (folder where the mods are stored)
and make shure to select that folder you created for NMM under the first time setup and it should work.
+Gopher I just installed from Steam, and I haven't started modding yet. I created one character. I don't have a Fallout4Custom.ini I have the other two and followed the instructions from the first video. If this a problem that I don't have the custom ini?
Still helping other players in 2018! Great work men!
Thank you very much your videos have gotten me out of more then a few problems on skyrim, haha same goes for fallout 4. Your my go to person if i ever have a problem, they are always nice and simple straight to the point.
I followed these steps, and none of my mods seem to be active (I've modded Skyrim, so I know it's not NMM) and I have no idea what to do
+KingdomCody same
Yep same here bro
I did everything in this vid and nothing. all i want is unlimited settlement building :(
+John Otero same
+John Otero all u have to do is add the file to the normal fallout 4 file(the one were u find the launcher, icon, ...)
You realize that you don’t have to rely on Nexus mods to get that specific mod right? There’s a copy of unlimited settlement building on the Mods option on the main menu of Fallout 4 provided by Bethesda. No complicated computer shit required.
John Otero That mod is in the normal fallout 4 mods, dude you are pretty stupid you dont need nexus for that
Did you install NMM? It's needed to install mods if you don't want to install manually.
man im watching you in 2022 and your solution still works amazing keep your amazing work up!!!! :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I've tried to do this for a year and this got it done!
what's the program that gopher uses to hide his desktop icons
This maybe a bit late but its called Fences here's a link; www.stardock.com/products/fences/
"its not dangerous" *GIVES YOU THE OPTION TO DOWNLOAD ADWARE WHEN INSTALING*
Your modding tutorial was so great! Finally I can mod now!
Thanks dude I'm starting PC recording and Fallout was one of them, thanks again.
I don’t have fallout4custom.ini
its only fallout4custom for me
Go to start type folder options it will show file explorer options click that go to view untick the box with hide extensions from known folder types next to it click apply at the bottom and your good to go
When i try to green tick it i get a warning saying to use Fallout 4 mods you are REQUIRED to make some necessary ini edits and so on witch i did make the edits copy and pasting what you had down below.
It lets me save but keeps saying i need to make edits.
+Degsey Same thing for me please let me know if you figured out a fix for this. Thanks in advance!
+Degsey Same here :). I'm looking for a fix but didn't find it yet.
I think the update broke it heard in a another video that some people have a work around.
i might just wait a little longer before i starting playing with mods.
Thank you. My .ini files were in C and my steam directory is in E. Frusterenting but one of the comments here helped me. Thank you :)
your amazing thanks mate. I could not find where i needed to edit the "Fallout4Prefs.ini" or "Fallout4Custom.ini" saved me so much time and searching
I have a ''little'' problem, i am already using NMM to mod FO4 for months but since yesterday it wont work anymore, to keep it short. i deinstalled NMM and FO4 and deleted all remaning traces(that i could find) of them, even the Savegames. i reinstalled them but it just wont work everytime i install just 1 mod the game crashes on startup or it will start but the mod doesnt work. When i install mods everthing seems fine, the mods get added to the main FO4 Data folder and if i deactivate them they get removed, but it WONT WORK :( i dont know what to do anymore... spent HOURS on getting FO4 with mods to work but i cant... PLS help
Mods get auto turned off in game for some reason
I have to click mods on main menu and re enable every single mod every single time since nexus mod manager doesn't seem to realise they've been turned off.
My problem literally solved itself... But i still cant launch it via NNM it crashes instantly but if im launching via steam and if i minimize NNM it works, the mods too.
Well I have just come back to FO4 after not playing sense launch. And the only way a game can be played now is in the vanilla manner. Enabling mods via the new mods menu or via NMM causes the game to CTD upon loading a game and starting a new game. Why in the hell Bethesda had to fuck with a system that already worked and for some it broke completely. FO4 is no longer "mod friendly" unless you use their stupid Bethesda.net system. And people think that is a good thing? Fuck that!
Did you go into documents\my games... and delete the file there? Steam leaves those when you "delete local data". Another option is use Revo Uninstaller and CCleaner to wipe every last iota of fallout-related data from your computer.
Paul Nardini
If you are referring to me, I fixed the problem with a workaround. But it is a temporary solution. The way I fixed it was changing the line in the Fallout4Custom.ini "sResourceDataDirsFinal=" to "sResourceDataDirsFinal=1".
Then after a save is made in that game I change it back to normal, and load the save. Strangely it worked to clear the CTD, but every time now if I want to start a new game I need to do that same thing. Or it gets stuck in an endless loading cycle, and the opening cutscene never starts.
I did everything the video said, and it says the mod is installed. But now every time I launch my game it just closes immediately. Plz help!
+GKMCELHANEY Artist and Gamer sounds like a mod conflict or just a mod in general, start disabling mods and trying again till you find the mod thats doing it
+Idanis i have the same issue only no mods being installed or not doesnt matter
did you play with the ini file at all? is your nexus download and where you keep your mods in all the same place, or did you try to move where your mods are stored to a SSD, you may want to start fresh and try deleting everything and trying again. sucks but its worth it once you get it figured out, try re watching gophers installation videos and make sure they are the updated versions, "give a man a fish" and all that :) good luck!
+GKMCELHANEY Artist Gamer and Musician just turn off all your mods, go into the game, and then one by one turn them on and see which one isn't cooperating
I would've never figured it out without this video. A thousand thanks!!
Thank You so Much! This was a amazing guide to modding and I am have a lot of fun with it. Thanks Again:)
god dammit. all I have is -
Saves
Fallout4
Fallout4Prefs
No Custom file.
I had that problem but then I install Nexus Mod Manger and it was there after
I just ended up making my own Custom ini lol
reinstalling nmm did not give me a custom ini
how do i make a custom ini?
DisGuy OvahEere you have to make one. There's a few vids on youtube. Type in: fallout 4 custom .ini
You'll find something.
I remember having to add a new folder. And typing in the tiny bit of script. And it worked.
I don't have [launcher] in my prefs.ini folder what do I do??
I have the same problem i dont know what to do ethier ;-;
you can add the [launcher] category and and subsequent lines underneath, so long as you dont have duplicates or typos. i can seem to find my custom.ini tho =(
My mods are working even though i dont have the luancher it is werid but my mods work
Thank you so much for youre dedication and top tutorials ever make!! you helped me so much! I bought 3 days ago tired of pirated one bugs etc and dindt play yet I´m so amused watching youre videos!!!! Thank you very much!!!
Thank you so much for your time buddy really enjoyed all your videos
I dont have the launcher in the pref so... i guess it dont matter.
bump
go to my documents my games then fallout 4
I dont have the custom thing.
Launch the game, start new game, get to character creation, then you can check again.
nice was looking for this ty my dude ''not me'' ^
yeah so I do all this and then when I play the game the mods aren't active what do I do
Same :(
+GamerMike413 DId you ever figure out the problem? Im having the same issue.
+GamerMike413 me as well
+GamerMike413 ugh same and there's no mention anywhere when i google it!
Guys i just fixed mine i did it by going to the plugin tab right beside the mod tab in nexus and enableing them all!!
YOU MADE IT SOOOO EASY THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU i just got a new computer (of which i have no idea how to use) and the quality of this video made it extraordinarily easy :) keep up the good work man

Thanks for this tutorial sir. Plain and simple. More power!
It's 15th November 2018, thank you for your work here.
hey icant find the downlaod page?
i can't even use the cheat terminal mod
Now my game keeps crashing over and over
gopher why do i not have a folder called fallout4custom.ini
+StryderZ because you need to go to: libraries > Documents > My games > Fallout 4
and not in steamApps
+The Dark Soul still cant find it
that's weird... :S
+Andeyz edit some settings in the game and fallout4custom.ini will be created
+The Dark Soul im not in steam apps im in libraries > Documents > My games > Fallout 4
Thank you for the info! i'll be sure to share your video on my video descriptions!!!
Its nice that Nexus is finally able to use there dusty mod manager for something after all these years. I have to say that Its going to take some getting use too not using FOMM. RIP FOMM your creator has decided not to update you...can we get a moment of silence for our old friend. you will be dearly missed. well sort of We shall see if NMM proves to be anywhere near as buggy I'm gunna get home sick for the old Manager pretty quick. Moving on Great Video!!!! I love how clear and precise your videos are I subscribed even though I already know how to mod I enjoy watching them.
I don't have a Fallout4custom.ini just Fallout4.ini
Then ceate a Fallout4custom.ini. You just save the text file with ".ini" in the place of ".txt" file extension.
katnerd what?
what if i dont have Fallout4Prefs_Custom.ini
+xiao junhao have you changed any settings?
The Waslijn I had to delete all the ini files because I messed them up, that's why I don't have custom.ini
xiao junhao ok
+The Waslijn so is there a way to fix the problem
+The Waslijn do I have to put it under custom
from skyrim to fallout your help is much needed
Such a great informative video for those of us who are new to modding. Thank you :)
There’s no ini files for me for some reason ): there’s just saves, fallout4, fallout4custom, and fallout 4prefs. No .ini
Had the same problem, my Ini files where located in (This pc, c ,users, my name, documents, my games, fallout 4)
they are .ini files. it may help you to enable extentions (literaly just adds file type to the end of the file name, for example: .ini) to enable extentions, while in your documents folder click on "view" in the top and then check the box "file name extentions"
I dont see the launcher in fallout4prefs
+DadPleaseDontBeatMe Me either, and I only have fallout 4 prefs, not the other one.
+Crashbanksbuysilver same pls help
+Lachlan Sinclair I fixed it just add all the launcher stiff
+DadPleaseDontBeatMe thanks I will try that
To everyone having issues with "Launcher" not being in their prefs.ini: I'm guessing you just freshly installed the game and haven't run the launcher yet. If not, run the launcher. If you have run the launcher already, you can just add the [Launcher] tab yourself.
If you don't have a Fallout4Custom.ini, that means you havent changed any settings yet that require its creation. Probably the easiest way to create it is to create it manually by creating a new text file in the folder with all the other inis, add the change you need, and change the file name to Fallout4Custom.txt. After that, right click on the file, click Properties, and then you can change the file extension to ini.
i downloaded modern warfare mods for fallout 4 this is my first time using pc for fallout i'm used to console but the mods i want are not on there this helps me out alot thanks
Much appreciated, now I can enjoy Fallout 4 even more.
*Does the OS hides the .ini ?*
*Save*
*Fallout4*
*Fallout4Custom*
*Fallout4Prefs*
*....*
*No .ini ?*
+Pilexstream .ini is a file extention so if you dont enable the showing of file extention you wont see the .ini
The Waslijn
*Therefore i can still able to follow the instructions clearly. Just curious not seeing .ini not like in the video.*
***** i explained to you why you did not see them
+The Waslijn
*How do i enable them to saw up in the documents?*
***** what operating system do you have?
I dont have Fallout Custom pls help
Try starting the game, play a little and check back if it has appeared.
Thanks! Had the same problem
Thank you so much helped alot got stuck for a long time trying to figure this out.
This was really awesome and helpful. Thanks a bunch Gopher!
I thought you could add "bEnableFileSelection=1" to "Fallout4Custom.ini" under "[Launcher]" instead of "Fallout4Prefs.ini"?
+TuHnIx You can but it wont do anything. Seems Fallout4Prefs.ini overrides anything in the custom file.
+The Slushy Bucket mo take time to get use to. you got practice when modding.
+Gopher Fallout4.ini > Fallout4Custom.ini, Fallout4Prefs.ini > Fallout4Prefs_Custom.ini
if you don't see fallout4custom.ini reinstall fallout 4.
+Jerrycrazywheels
Or simply create the file.^^
This didnt work.
What an useful video until now! Thanks for making this wonderful video.
i have watched all your videos! love you man
i hate myself
i want to commit violent suicide
Literally nothing in this vid matched what was on my PC. Not a single step.
Same here
CyberRonin das cuz u use xp
it doesn't work for windows xp lmao
bro this is by far the best tutorial I have ever watch !
Thank you very much for this! i was really afraid of modding my fallout 4 game but you made it quite easy actually!; you have earned a like and a subscribe sir!
DONT GO THROUGH STEAM GUYS...THIS DOESNT WORK UNLESS YOU GO TO "MY GAMES", DONT USE "STEAMAPPS"....sorry for caps
+Dominic Hróòvitnisson Much appreciated
thankyou!
you just saved me a headache and a half, thanks man
That's why it didn't work thanks bud
thank you for caps
Why is this so fucking hard this is why I can't have mods the thing is too Dan confusing
yeah i hate this over complicated stuff on bethesda net is way easier to install mods i do everything correctly and it still doesnt work other people can do it why cant i?
its better than not having mods...
Nope. U don't have to install mods, it is not a MUST. So, having difficulties with modding is better than not having them.
and thats why console has horrible crappy mods and only like 2 mods
...there is LITERALLY only 4 steps. Operator error. Keep giving up like that. You'll make it far in life.
This video was extremely helpful! Thank you for this :)
I've occasionally eyed up mods for my game, but the whole "how the heck do you INSTALL them" bit always gave me The Anxiety (I'm used to Sims games, where it's literally "plop mod in mods folder"). This makes it look a little less scary, though. :) Thanks!
