Cody was born in Texas, Grady was born in St. Louis, Randy and Jeremy were born in Oklahoma. They got their start in Yukon and their time in Stillwater really launched them. They even helped earn Stillwater the nickname "North Austin" because they do have an amazing Red Dirt sound. I'm an Okie and proud of these boys. I still hear what they're up to every now and again... try Cody Canada's band, he's the lead singer. There's some Cross canadian sound in some of their songs

I was a Bering sea crab fisherman in the 80s and 90s . A convenience store clerk for 20 years in New Mexico. I second that comment the BEST BAND OF ALL TIME Robert "MIKE" STUBBLEFIELD
I remember when I was seventeen 39 1/2 years ago. I lived in a very small Oklahoma town. Went to a small High School with only 18 kids in my graduating class. I remember a very popular girl in my class that was pretty much “miss everything”. Her Mom was a teacher at a nearby school. The girl was well known to everyone around with a snotty attitude and perfect attendance for 13 years. You know the type. New cars, head cheerleader , very pretty, religous, and miss perfect. She was the first girl out of our graduating class that got pregnant out of wedlock. She didn’t marry the guy either. Got a menial job and married 3 or 4 times . Never made anything of herself. She died last year single and alone and was always dependent on her parents for help. I was the only classmate to attend her funeral. This song came out several years ago before her death of course and I always thought of her when I heard this song because she had it all including a bright future ahead of her and she blew it. She lived in our little town of 200 people her entire life. She’ll always be 17 in that town .
@James J Wow. Small world man. That lineman's name was Michael Benson. He was a beast. Held every powerlifting record for years. He still holds the total weight record I believe. And maybe the squat record. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago. Supposedly someone poisoned his drink in college and he was messed up for the rest of his years and died early.
Damn I miss these guys! I really wish they'd get back together! This song is SO true because this is EXACTLY how it is when you grow up in a small TX town, you know everyone, everyone knows you and your business, and we knew all the cops on a first name basis. SO TRUE this song!!!
Mike McCartney Yep. Every time I go back to my old high school football games, the teachers that are still there when I was always laugh and talk about all the hell me and my friends raised when were were there. I shudder at some of the stuff we did and didn't die or get caught doing and get thrown in jail! But that's pretty much the story of all of us when we were in high school, right? We were young and invincible.
Love their music . I’m in my 50s still with my high school girlfriend in my home town. We still have cruise nights during the summer on Main. Feels like no time has passed
I grew up with these boys. Cody and I were close. We used to go from Yukon to Texas for a beer run just for the hell of it ;) Omg I just realized the oil rig!! Iykyk The oil rig, the underpass, the clearing haha good good times

David Jenkins Exact same here. Saw this video back when CMT had a show called "Wide Open Country" went out the next day and bought the Purple cd and collected ever since. Miss the hell out of Ragweed, The Departed are good but it's just not the same as all the great Ragweed music
All inspired by Cody being high at a carnival and looking to Boland and saying "Hey man, im pretty damn high, and the cops around here remember me from when I was 17:. Bold said "Well, Cody, "your always 17 in your hometown"
@@jerrenellis9564 That's what I had always thought, but last 4th of July (2019) he told the story again, and there was a carnival involved. I can't remember all the specifics. Maybe they were gettiing ready to go to a carnival, idk... Either way, badass song and 2 badass dudes.
@@jerrenellis9564 No, just going off what Cody said before he played the song and was talking about his and Bolands relationship. I always liked this song I heard this at about 23 or so when they were playing alot. grew up in the south and did all those things. nothing like home to make you feel young. good times
In 2003 I was 18 packing as much beer in cargo shorts and 2 hands as I could carry, rolling into a lakefest in Oklahoma. Boland opened with Johnny Cooper's young ass before him. We left after the brawl in the back broke out. It was goods times. I saw them two more times and they broke up
