- Leaky tub and shower faucets are not on our list of favorite things. But they're relatively simple to fix yourself. With a few tools and the right Danco replacement part, you can fix that leaky faucet yourself.

I live in a small town, I couldn't get a repair kit right away, so I took out the two small spring washers and stretched the springs a little bit and reinstalled them. Fixed the leak. I guess the springs get compressed over time, best to replace them, but this seems to work for the time being. It's not leaking at all at the moment.
Looked everywhere for this video. Thank you
Thanks!! Local plumbing shop had a kit to replace all the guts. Easy job!
my shower is leaking. I am going to try to fix it today, pray for me.
Did you survive?
I hope you made it
It is really easy when all the parts are brand new.
I agree.
@@_NEW3RA_ but in old ones Cua,Cua Cua!!😎👍🍺
Thank you. You saved us
Use the Danco over the OEM Delta replacement cam (plastic piece that the handle nub goes through.) I've read that Delta used to design them like the Danco design, but changed the design to just o rings on the side of the replacement gray plastic cam. I could not get the Delta gray replacement cam to seal which results in a leaking handle. I don't know if it's because I also replaced the two springs and seals in the valve, (which was the reason I originally took it apart, to fix a spout leak, and the two new springs and seals fixed that,) and the stiffness of the new springs prevented the cam from lining up, or staying in place in that grove, or if the o rings get cut or deformed when sliding it in. Either way, I was able to get the Danco cam to seal, with its full rubber seal that sits behind the cam touching the ball, instead of just the o rings on the side like the Delta replacement cam.
I have an old kissler & co handle the broke this am. The setup looks very similar to the vid now just need to look for a replacement handle as having just the stick sticking out is an eye sore.
Looks good but in old ones!!🙄🙄🙄🪐🪐🪐🤔🤔
Saved me the cost to hire a plumber, thank you!!!
I wish it was that easy. Usually their is calcium build up and they are extremely hard to remove.
Totally depends on your water source
Heat is the answer.
The video shows a new valve. Working on one that is 34 years old is different. The large nut does not move so easily. Mine was on tight and twisted the body to the left and the position is off center.
If the nut won't turn easily, apply heat to it using a hair dryer or heat gun. Heat guns are more effective, but require extra care in their use.
That music made me tear up everything and I am still going
Cant even get the screw off of the knob
A link to the replacement parts would be great. I can't find any parts.
I got Danco replacement cartridge and seats and springs for my shower through Amazon, I've also seen them at Home Depot. So many different brands, models, though, that you have to know the make, style, and sometimes the year of your shower (my Valley faucet was different before and after 1986).
This was helpful to me. Just curious, is Danco and Delta the same? My assembly is Delta.
Danco will work on Delta faucets but it's not the same company.
I did it before, it was pretty easy, trying again and I forgot how the valve comes out, I removed the snap ring but can't get the valve out, Trying with needle nose, can't get it, i don't want to mess it up, might have to call the plumber, I hate to because I know it doesn't cost much$ if I do it myself.
the stainless steel ball drags after reassembly, and is missing an additional hole and causes a very limited water flow, tried to use it with a plastic ball version.
What does the faucet have to do with the hot water temperature?
bigpardner That plastic white piece can be adjusted to increase or decrease the amount of hot water you get. I had to adjust it to get the water warm enough to shower in.
@@gregsimpson621 there are a couple, few plastic pieces, which one dude??
The washer seal was not tightened! when you place the tightener on you are suppose to use the special tool to tighen it and it was not done in this video!
EXACTLY!!!!! I found that out the hard way. Downside is that mine is so rusted from water over the years........i can’t turn it. I have banner faucet. Hard to find those parts.
and she said gasket cam instead of cam gasket, maybe huh??? and she said two notches instead of four notches, huh? set screw in handle, not this one shown, huh??
Hi - are these delta ball replacement for faucets only or for showers ?
What to do if the Philips screw is stuck? Have tried blaster spray and no luck. Any way besides cutting it off and replace assembly?
Use a good quality 1/4" capacity battery powered drill/driver with adjustable torque. Put a #2 Phillips bit in the chuck and tighten it down. Set the direction to counter-clockwise. Set the torque adjustment ring to a low number. This will cause the bit to "ratchet" (or "chatter") when you trigger it on. The ratcheting action is like using a gentle impact wrench and will eventually loosen the screw.
Your latest run of the cartridges for this fix are faulty and leak.
How Is the knob even being held on there wtf. I got a new knob and my assemble looks like this but I can't screw the knob on
Saaaaaame
I'm having the same problem. Were you able to figure it out?
I'm glad I'm not the only one. My stem has some sort of adapter/extender that attaches with a set screw. The end of this adapter/extender is female threads to attach the knob. Unfortunately the threads are stripped and I cannot find this part anywhere. I could remove the adapter and attach a lever style handle but that would be hard to function the hot/cold adjustment pushes left to right. Any help would be appreciated.
Same! Something is left out. I did it all except the handle ... and 4 associates at Lowe's couldn't figure it out using their own Danco parts?! ... wtf
geez . . . every video shows the shorter contoured seat and springs. if you have the long springs the seats won't go in far enough to stay in while you try to reinstall the ball
Background music is far too distracting
No plumber's grease used? hmm
Install a new delta faucet
