How to Lose Weight FAST | Series 3 | No Talking Interval Training Workout | 3602 steps | Day 1

  • If you're wondering how to lose weight fast, interval training is the way to go. Often people do the same workouts at the same pace which doesn't give fast results. Today we are ramping up the pace a bit since we are now in series 3. If you are new here, please start with series 1 and 2 since each series we progress to a bit more of a challenging workout so you GET RESULTS. Today's workout for myself is a total of 3602 steps (your pace will determine how many steps you get in so this will definitely fluctuate depending on how fast you go).
    Who is this workout for?
    This interval training program is suitable for anyone who can currently walk for 30 minutes 4-6 times a week. If you are at that fitness level then you can start this program (suitable exercise for seniors, beginners, and people of all ages). Interval training is geared for burning calories and fat, building muscle, and getting past that plateau effect that so many people hit. Interval training uses brief bursts of high-intensity activity which provides the effects people are looking for...more results!
    Today's workout is our first interval training day in SERIES 3. We'll do various exercises at a regular pace to warm up for 10 minutes then we'll pick up the pace. Today we will go fast for 1 minute, slow it down for 1 minute and repeat that for 7 intervals. Please find the pace that suits you best for your 1 minute of fast walking/jogging. The speed you go for the fast 1 minute interval needs to be geared to YOUR fitness level. Since we are now into series 3, you can really start to push yourself. Try to go as fast as you can (but also keeping in mind any past injuries, etc., and ensuring you do what is safe for YOU).

    Here goes Series 3. And I was not at all disappointed. I’ve discovered that your workouts whether they’re 20 minutes to an hour long, challenge me and I’m seeing results. I’m happy to say I wore a pair of jeans yesterday that were tight, couldn’t even buckle a few weeks ago. So I was motivated with Series 1 and 2 but after wearing the jeans..I’m way motivated and excited. Loved the music and the cues as to what was next. Awesome workout. A million thanks.

      Big smile on my face here! I am so happy for you to get back into those jeans! This program really does work wonders if people follow it correctly for the 4 weeks of each series and work hard on the interval days. You're proof it works! I do find that by the time people get to series 3 is when the weight starts to come off for most people. It all takes time but as long as people are patient, it will happen. We all just lose weight at different rates. I'm so happy for you, Juanita! You're working hard and it's paying off:) 💗💗💗

    Wow. I did it. The whole workout. And...I kept up wirh you. Since I started the program I am down a pant size. I want to tell all seniors out there who think getting healthy us impossible..its not. I am living proof. I had a major stroke in 2018. I decided I wanted a better life for myself. Thru patience, persistence and perseverence I got there. My cardiologist told me I was so healthy he didnt need to see me anymore. Dont give up on yourself. You are worth the fight. Keep going.

    I totally agree with Janice! Seniors we can get healthy. In August I found myself still making excuses and was so lethargic. I started looking for help. I found Jules-Improved Health videos. SO Look no further. I began with 10 minutes and the BEE GEES and I was hooked. It does take time and discipline, so don't get discouraged, move AT YOUR PACE. JUST MOVE! Today I began Week 2 of Series 3. I still can't believe it. You really will feel amazing and as Jules said "your body will thank you". I have more stamina, balance, strength, and my legs, arms, and shoulders are toning well. Visiting my grandkids this week and I will have the energy to enjoy them. Our bodies are truly fearfully and wonderfully made!!! Treat your temple well!!!

    I just finished the first two series and I love these workouts! I am recommending them to all my friends. In conjunction with keeping a food log, I have lost weight, my mood has improved, and I have more energy! I look forward to coming home after work and doing the workout, whereas before it was all I could to go hit the couch and grab an unhealthy snack! In addition, having the upcoming move in the split screen is a huge help! Thank you so much!!!

    Finally - the eagerly anticipated Series 3! It's great to finally be able to match your pace, Jules! I follow your strength series as I waited and repeat Series 2 workout. It helps me to build my core. I haven't lose much weight yet but I have firmer and toned upper arms now! Thank you, mate!

    Did this one today as I wanted to see how much I am able to do now. Its been about a year since I started following you on here. At the start I struggled with the real beginner workouts. 20 minutes just about killed me. Now a year later I can do this workout. I am stronger and fitter.     Hi Jules! A year ago I called this workout "hard but good". Today I will call it hard work, but not hard. I was outside almost all day in the sunshine and was a little tired but I really wanted an interval workout, and this one fit the bill. Thank you!

      You are AMAZING!!! I work with so many frail seniors in my full-time job and I often think of how different life could be for them if they chose to exercise throughout their lifetime.     So I started this today. I did 1 week of series 2, but feel like I wanted a bit more of a challenge, so today is first day of Series 3. I didn't realise at first that there were different series. Thank you.

      There are four series in total, but with the fourth series I only made the two interval workouts (day 1 and 3). I felt like people might want to choose other cardio workouts of varying lengths by the time they got to series 4.

      This is why I like this program...with doing the workout for 4 weeks it allows our bodies to adjust and adapt and then bam! A new program comes out and we surprise ourselves by being able to do more. Within the next couple of weeks, you'll likely be surprised at how easy the 7 rounds will become:)

    I love this new workout. Believe it or not, the fast jogging in place intervals are meditative! I close my eyes and just hear the tap of my feet on the floor.

    So sending a reminder that you shine too.🌞 Makes me laugh when you say to give it your all when we’re at the last interval. That’s when I’m most worn out. LOL I skip around a lot among your different workouts. A former instructor reminded me that they’re called workouts for a reason... there is much work to do in the sessions.

      I love that you try out different workouts…that is how you see change. Too many people do the same exercise day after day and that is often why people plateau or get certain injuries due to repetitive moves. Varying exercise is the best thing you can do. Oh, and I ask people to give it their all on the last one because I think people often ‘find’ more energy when they know it’s their last one:) I hope it worked for you.😉

    You are hands down my little seniors group favourite trainer. Everyone reported that they were huffing and puffing this morning. I was going to slow down the fast intervals after round 4. Then I read how you felt emotional at that point about how hard we were all working. I couldn’t let you down so I kept up the pace in all the rest. Good guilt motivation, Jules. 😂

    Love these... on my second time through series 2 so on week #5. If you feel awkwad or are having trouble following her, listen to the music. She doesn't start on the first beat of four beats. If you do, it will feel much more comfortable because it will fit the music. Also, some of her arm motions are 3 beats instead of 2 or 4 like your legs/feet are doing. It's like trying to rub your tummy & tap your head. Just add one beat to the arm movements so it matches the music and you will do much better. I often have to stop and wait for the downbeat so that I can get on track. The music is odd but it works and I really like her and the exercises so it's worth the effort.

      Congrats! I made each series to be done for a total of 4 weeks each to allow the body to get used to the workouts and then to progress to the next series. If you don’t feel it’s too much, you can move forward each week.

    I am sorry I could not find 1 and 2 series. This one was great! I am 74yo but not a beginner so I just walked, jogged through the intervals. I am tired but feel great! Awesome workout. I hope I can find the next interval series after these 4 weeks. Thanks for your music, tips and smiling face.

    This is the start of my week 2 but I am going to consider it as week 1 due to not doing day 7. I felt too beat up after day 6 to do the workout the next day. I foolishly tried to do 3 sets on day 6. This week I will only do 2 sets. I am so enjoying this, I particularly like day 1 and 3. Day 2 was an awesome challenge and switch up but my quads felt the squats the next day. Still I was able to keep up with it all. Loving this.

      I'm so glad you are loving it! Yes, day 6 is a tough one and a little bit of soreness is nice but when it's hard to sit or walk from soreness, that can be a bit much (I have done that to myself too many times!).

      Hi Patty! I have yet to master the next step visual...my husband helped me figure it out but it took AGES and we haven't mastered how to make it easier to include in every video. I need more hours in my life to learn all these things! That's an interesting comment about the music. I have been spending lots of time trying to find new music but it is a challenge finding music that is upbeat and good for exercising. I tend to go back to many of my favourites but I have been trying to avoid it since I was afraid people would get tired of them. I am happy to read you enjoy hearing some of them again. Thank you for letting me know (and now I can stress less when I re-use songs!).

      I did a couple of videos with the preview window but it took me HOURS to do it. I'd love to do it each time but I haven't figured out a way to do it more quickly. Life is so busy (I work full time and have kids, too). Hopefully when I have some holiday time, I'll be able to figure it out.

    Just done this exercise challenge me but i did it 💪 love the way you showed how you did the exercise at the beginning. i get a bit confused which video you do in order I'm a bit slow to take it all in. so i tend to do the ones that i done. But i try my best. ❤❤❤❤xxxxx

      Hi Kathy, with these interval workouts please work out at YOUR own pace. You can walk fast, jog slowly or run. The fast interval periods on day 1 and 3 are designed to be modified by the viewer. I expect every viewer to go at their own pace. I hope that helps!

I understand that viewers can move at their own pace but I do not want to "slow down" during the fast intervals; rather, I would like to have options which increase my pace/heart rate but do not involve jumping-like movements/jogging like movements. So I want to keep the same pace as the video but have low impact movements at a higher pace. Thanks so much and again apologies for confusion. Thanks as always for your WONDERFUL workouts.       Hi Kathy, thanks for clarifying:) The best option would be to walk as fast as you can while pumping your arms. You'll still get a great workout since your heart rate will be elevated and then it'll come back down again for the recovery period.

    Okay, fine, as you suggest, I m starting series 1 today as I am new here. So I'll be doing this 7 day 4 times through to progress to 2nd and so on, if that's what you mean, I guess.

      Hi! Yes, that is the way the program works but you can definitely do what works best for you. By doing the program for 4 weeks your body will gradually adjust to the program and then a new, more challenging program will start with the next series. It's all about not overloading the body too much with changes too quickly. Everyone is different, though, so the program might be too easy or too hard for some. See how the first week goes and then decide from there:)

    I finished series 2 last Thursday and took this week off as you suggested doing just some cardio each day. Should I do the four weeks of strength training first or is it OK to start series 3 this Thursday and put the strength training off until I’m done with the interval trainings. Your program has been working so well for me that I don’t want to mess it up :-) PS love the Bee Gees 10 minute one would love to hear a 10 minute Stevie Nicks one to Rhiannon, Edge of 17, and Stand Back :-)…Molly 🌹

      Hi Molly! With series 3 I am incorporating some strength training into the workouts since I feel those who have completed series 1 and 2 really need to start adding strength exercises. So, due to this, I would suggest stick with series 3 starting on Thursday. Until then, you can do any of the cardio workouts you'd like. After the 4 weeks of series 3, ask me again and I'll help cater the program to suit you best so you get the most benefits. I hope that helps!

    Hi, Jules! After 8 weeks of 1 then 2 starting this series tomorrow. I checked ir out and see it has strength! I had been doing your 5 day strength videos Saturday through Wednesday (on stretch and extra long cardio days). Should I suspend that series for the next 4 weeks until I get to series 4?

      Hi! My suggestion is to start this series AND to continue doing the 5 day strength videos. But, for the days I do strength workouts in the interval series, choose a different cardio workout at the intermediate level (of any length that suits the time you have, but over 20 minutes and not an interval workout). From memory, I think day 2 and 6 are strength days. Just swap those for an intermediate cardio workout and still do the strength series.
