- "Without a Goal, you can't Score"... and many people either don't have a goal, or one so vague that you can't be sure if you've actually scored.
"without a goal, you can't score" ...and you are probably somewhat de-motivated...
In sports, the goal is very clear. In football - a 24ft by 8ft steel or aluminium frame with a net... so you can clearly see if the ball goes in.
In sports, the victory condition is very clear... more goals than the other team.
In our lives, some people take the time to get clear on their specific goals... and they know when they score.
Others have only a vague idea...
Others are just kicking a ball in the dark.

* What does it take to move people to action?
* What does it take to have impact when you communicate?

These are questions that I answer. I answer these questions with tools that work for politicians, business leaders, entrepreneurs and professors.

Simple but very profound. Indeed without a goal you can't score.

Glad to see that the legend is still making videos ❤
Goals become a series of goals, Conor, and we're between them most of the time, i.e. "Not satisfied yet." Choosing a DIRECTION, on the other hand, and knowing we're moving steadily towards it, creates a different perspective. We smile as we pass milestones along the way. There is no thwarted wanting. And as Buddha observed, it is wanting, clinging and aversion, which is the cause of our suffering.
A "goal" can be to be at peace with what is, and yes, that is a direction. Enjoy the journey.
There is a big philosophical debate to be had over types of goals - for me the challenge is whether your goals are your own, or for status, fame, comparison... and whether there is aligment in the be-do-have nature of your goals - if you want to have something, you also have to want the do and be aspects of the goal as well - otherwise it is a fantasy goal
God bless you Conor, have a great time....
Thank you, I will
Have a great time. Wonderful reflection
Thank you! You too!
Great advice. It’s really helpful. Thank you!
These examples you’ve put simplifies the core of our vague concepts of having a Goal, and truly has a profound impact on practical life. Thank you, Conor!!
glad to hear it... and the more specific we can get the better
God bless you my angel...
Keep on...
Thank you 🙏
Thank you 💫
;-)
yes. its so obvious ... i also came across this few decades ago from the paul arden book
now the question is ... why don't we define our aims / goals / targets?
we have the means obviously ... but we just don't do it ... why?
is it bcos, simply we were taught to follow the rules / convention ... after primary1 is primary 2 ... high school, uni
we just followed without ever attaining the skills to chart our own paths ...
could this be the reason? ... we can"t be that dumb that we just don't it in everything that we do ...
.
school doesn't teach you to set your own goals... it just assumes that your goals are the same as everyone else; school/uni teaches "general knowledge" not "specific knowledge". General knowledge won't help you stand out in any way. Specific knowledge is what makes the world work. Knowing "about cars" is not valuable; knowing how to fix an electrical issue on a Tesla is valuable.
love ur vids man!
Thank you 🙏
