There are messages that I deliver with flaws but they still reach regardless, God has a way of carrying our Message no matter if the individual has a brain injury, speech impediment, stuttering problem.. remember Gods beloved Moses gave an excuse of His stuttering speech but look at the mighty works that was done by God using Him to deliver the message ! Communication isn’t just about speaking clearly. The world has deaf people so a clear voice is useless. Even if you have a clear voice and have great writing skills the person you’re speaking to may not understand the same words you use, or disagree with your opinion, or aren’t interested in your message. As a kid I had TWO imaginary friends ... going through these reminds me just how much purposeful, articulate I was since I played with them daily even through the night and it was this that forced people to make me shut up. I have noticed how often I slur my speech, often in the end of my sentences, and I figured a lot of it comes from insecurities in what I’m saying. It becomes even worse when I notice no one can hear what I’m saying. This is the type of content I needed, and I’ll try my best to follow it. Thank you!

This method is identical to the process professional jazz improvers do to get better at improvising. We call it “transcribing” - imitating someone else’s entire solo, matching the style and inflections. I am studying for my DMA in saxophone currently, and they have me teaching on the spot often in front of audiences, and I feel that my speaking fluency needs to get better. So, it is pretty cool to hear that the practice of getting better at it is something I already relate to.

I was raised bilingual and sometimes switch between languages for specific words (automatically).
Now I am dating a guy from overseas and talk english (3rd language) on a daily basis and suddenly noticed a problem with my speech:
My brain thinks too fast and conflicts with the 3 languages, so that I often times stop in the middle of the sentence, have to finish my thought and adjust to the language and then continue talking. This is bathering me a lot, because it seems like I would sometimes stutter.

I went to seek advise with a paralegal and recorded our conversation when I played it back I couldn’t believe the way I was communicating ! I kept saying “like” a lot, um , and “ you know “ ? I spoke like a 5 years old .. I was so embarrassed ! we all know the way you speak conveys a lot about you and your education . When I converse with friends and fam I don’t use filler words , words flow easily . I really want to improve my communication and ease the nerves. Idk why I get anxiety when speaking to strangers. Hi Derek. In my rambling I've just come back after some while to this clip of yours and can't help notice the motivation you are giving. During the time since I have watched it first I practised mimicking the sounds and intonations from different sources I liked at the moment. They were like audio-books, youtub-clips, podcasts. It was helpful. English is not my native tongue, and beside the aural practice it was also the practice of new words, bits idioms, slang expressions, probably even gestures. I was not stuck to a single accent or voice, because after a while they were becoming to seem boring . I was changed samples, and went further exploring some regional British accents, which was also a great fun. Maybe sometimes I deviated from the clearness, but I think it was beneficial in some point for understanding the tonality and the pitch of the language. And, of course, it worked like a feed-back: the better we can produce the speech the better we can understand it. Eventually I have cached a feeling that the British voices are produced more likely from more former part of the mouth, even some sounds are coming from the back of the throat. It's like the feeling that the frontier muscles and the front part of the tongue work more than in my native Russian. It's a sort of my tuning when I try to mimic, my "inpersonality".
And my question at the end. What do you think about this Yorkshire boy czcams.com/video/GTSb8zZdFYY/video.html
Isn't he wonderful? It's one of my likings now how he speaks. Does it feel like clear sounding to you?
