Those are a good job Tom. I have looked at that jig a few times and wondered was it worth getting but you have kinda convinced me that it is a worthwhile buy. I like the fact that you didn't go overboard with designs on your pendants. The one I found really attractive was the one with the circular depression on the bottom left because I've never seen that done before, only curved lines. I liked that design very much.

thanks Ben, I appreciate the feedback. the jig is nice and convenient. You can do everything that it does in different ways, but not as easily. the best feature though is the ability to replicate the same settings time and again.

Willem Kossen They are so simple to make. The jig makes things 'more interesting' but simple ones can be made just with a glue block.

Those are really cool Tom. I'm going to have to make some. But first being a machinist by trade I'll have to buzz of an off centre fixture. I'm also a bit on the cheap side.
Hi Chris. Far better to enjoy making your own jigs than spend money just for the sake of it. Though I use the jig often, I could easily make a wooden or aluminium version myself, now I know how it should work!

Thanks Tom. I have subscribed and started watching some of your videos. I did some turning back in school about 35 years ago and am just getting back to it. Love it. Made a couple of little bowls/dishes. Learning more every day.
I was the same Chris. Started in school back in the 70's when kids were allowed, and encouraged, to use machinery. I started turning again in my early 40's. Keep it up and why not make a video for us to see how you do?

Tom, what adjustments would you make turning a pendant out of resin? Should the front of piece be turned round and then finished completely then drill hole and add embellisments? if so, how would I reverse the piece to finish back? I'm afraid attaching finished front and holding with double sided tape will ruin the front's finish. Suggestions??
Jerry, With out doubt the best way I have found to hold the front side whilst finishing the back, is a simple vacuum pump and cup. I went this route for one particular pendant that was a little delicate and never went back!

Thanks Tom, good job. I want to do similar pendants with a convex curve on both front and back. Not quite sure how to hold the piece to do the second side. The double stick tape will not have a flat surface to stick to. Not sure if that will create a problem. What do you think. Cheers, Jim

Sounds like quite a good use of a 'Jam Chuck' perhaps. Turn the outside between centres or in jaws then cut a recess in a scrap piece to fit the pendant piece in. Finish the first side, turn it around and finish other.

Tom, I thought of that but I don't think that will give good access to the edges. I'm thinking of hot gluing to a flat glue block. But then I need be sure it's centered. May this can't be done simply. Thanks
If you can take care of the edges first, it shouldn't be a problem. I have to deal with the edges before I use my off centre jig. It's not difficult after a few tries.

Nice work, but sorry, it is NOT simple at all. Simple is, when you do it using only some simple tools, not all these complicated and super expensive machines. Could you do it using some hand tools and perhaps electric drill and nothing more? The title is hugely misleading.
Where did you get this offset chuck and how much?
