Great video and commentary. Lots of informative tips and suggestions. Thanks.
Absolutely correct to hone tool controle and looks like you are well on your way good work
Really liked this one. Yet another reason for me to get a lathe. My wife says I'm a tool addict, since I never, ever, have enough of them!
My wife says the same about me😀
Oh great, another awesome reason to never, ever throw away any scap, no matter how small. ;-) Good job!
I know it's kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new movies online?
@Angel Sonny try Flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Angel Sonny i use Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Angel Sonny I would suggest Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)

Very informative, newbi turner, free workshop at my library, been making pens and ready to move onto another project..easy but learning new skills.easy clear voice. Soft music ..great video!!
I use a dedicated jam chuck to reverse the pendent and concave and sand the back. I make them to be used as worry stone or for something to hold during prayer time. Thanks for your hard work.
In a later vid, I showed how I now make DIY soft jaws to do just that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Nice work. Helped on more than 1 front. great technique and nice design. more videos

Awesome work 👏 I’m gonna make my way through all your videos. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me at Makers Central. You’ve definitely inspired me to get a lathe and learn how to turn.
Thank you! I am so thrilled to hear that you might be getting a lathe! Be sure to let me know where you post so I can be sure to check it out.

This is a really cool project. It never even dawned on me that I could do some of these types of projects on my lathe. What parting tool do you use? I still have the cheap wide one from my first spindle tool set and those thin blade ones would be so much better.
Thank you. That video was very helpful. I appreciate you mentioning carbide tool use. I am a new turner and use this type of tool, but many turners are overtly or covertly critical of their use.
Hey John, Carbide tools are scrapers which means they scrape the wood away as opposed to cutting it. The result is almost always a rough surface which requires a lot of sanding to get it smooth. My suggestion is for you to get into traditional tools when you are able to do so, but be aware that they require a means of sharpening them. This is another area where there is a lot of learning to be done. Good luck, and have fun!
@@clarencegreen3071 Thank you. I have found I can do excellent work with my Carbide tools. Negative rake cutters have helped. Carbide tools may even be better than traditional tools for wood/resin pieces. I have found a little extra sanding to be preferred to the time and expense of owning, learning, and using sharpening equipment.
Hello, I'm so glad I found you!! My question is that I get a lot of different types of wood from found or cuts from lawn companies. I have some beautiful California Pepperwood. What do you use to stabilize your wood that is not harmful to the wearer?
Btw, I just bought my 1st lathe, it's only a 12" bench with carbide chisels but love your philosophy on constantly growing your skill set!
Thank you for great video. What wax/oil do you use to buff/shine your pieces? Also, what lathe do you use?
sweet ,what size cord are you using and findings ,,,thanks
I am fairly certain that it was 2mm cord and findings from my local hobby shop
thanks
Please, whats the finish?
I used hampshire sheen high gloss wax
