    In my opinion if you have any additional cost for the higher horsepower engines the six horsepower does the job 5 miles an hour or two probably double the engine cost doesn't make sense and quite frankly it's not like it's a hard bottom rip that boat is going to be very skittish in any kind of wake. Keep in mind in the videos the water was virtually flat also the transom should have a rating for the maximum horsepower you don't want to be fatiguing the back of the boat like that. Have the same boat, using 6hp Tohatsu four stroke getting 16.8 mph (27km/h) when alone with no gear, no launching wheels and using internal tank. Consistently getting 16 mph with light gear, wheels and external tank...
    With small adult 57-60 kg and me 95 kg getting 13 mph (21km/h) ...
    You sure your GPS is ok as you alone was getting only 13 mph alone? Usually two stoke has better performance then 4 stoke.
    I guess no need for me to upgrade to 9.8 hp if you hitting only few miles more then my 6hp... yet my outboard is very noisy and vibrates a lot due to 1 cylinder and when it really loaded its
    slow :(

    • @HufflerGarage
      @HufflerGarage  Před rokem +3

      I would recommend upgrading for 2 reasons:
      1. Vibration - so much less vibration on the bigger motors.
      2. Speed - Even though it only gets a little more speed with just 1 pewrson, the bigger motor will plane with 2 people (or a lot of gear). When you put 2 people on the boat with the 6, your speed will cut in half because you can't get on plane.

With another adult and more gear (say 450 lbs in boat), goes ok, can get it to plane (may need to trim up 1 notch). With 600+lbs, it bogs down and is fairly slow and its hard to plane.
