  • Now that we've had the Tobin Sports inflatable dinghy (Mirovia Pro) from Costco for several months, we can give some of our thoughts on the boat and hopefully answer the age old question: Should you buy it?

    Agree it's an awesome boat for the price. I am into my 5th summer with this boat for fishing and it has held up very well until now. It's very stable in the water even in choppy/wavy conditions. Seeing the issues folks are having with the inflatable floor, I am super glad I have the aluminum floor although it adds quite a bit of weight launching and pulling out of the water.
    It's washed down, dried, deflated and packed into the garage after each outing. And in winter it's stored indoor in the basement. Even though better PVC material was used, I am now getting pinhole air leaks from the tubes in several places. I don't know if it's from the PVC material deteriorating in year 5 or from the many rolling up to transport and for storage.
    I love this boat but now concerned about long-term reliability and how many more patches I would have to do next year compared to the 9 pin-hole leaks already found last week. Patch material and glue are readily available on Amazon so I'll keep patching until no longer feasible.

    Looks like the 12HP gets the dinghy up on plane better than the 6HP. For slightly more $$ ($599 + shipping) I'd recommend the Saturn CB330 over the Costco model...you get heat-welded seams (the Tobin Sports inflatable are glued) on the Saturn and a better quality German Heytex 1100 Denier reinforced PVC. I've had the Saturn FCB290 heavy duty 9'6" (slightly smaller than the Tobin) for a couple of years and have run it over rocks, beached it on fairly rugged terrain, it has proven to be very durable. Make sure you do some research and read up on reviews before buying a dinghy suited for how you intend on using it.

      @@patteioval3109I agree 💯 but if you return it few years later, you can't repurchaseagain if it's unavailable...

    Great demo! Hey, how is the boat holding up? If stored in a cool garage, do you think it could last a few years or more?

    Two questions how do you like the engine? Where did you buy it. Also, do you think you could hook up a tube until somebody behind that boat. I bought the same one but haven’t taken it out of the box yet lol.

    How durable would you consider the underside to be? If I buy one, I would like to be able to drag it up on to beaches, some may have small rocks.

    Anyone know if the 12hp hangkai would work well with the 8’ inflatable?

    Good video! I’m in the uk, had one for about a year now. I bought it to get my skills up before I invest in something a bit more expensive. It obviously has its shortcomings being a cheap boat but for the money it’s unbeatable. I have put a board under the floor at the front to reduce the flex, and the ‘doming’ over the keel which seems to of worked. My main advice though- this boat doesn’t seem to like a 15hp. With just me on it it goes well with a 4hp, but an 8-10 seems to be it’s ‘sweet spot’. I had a 15 on mine and over 2/3 throttle it didn’t like it. I tried everything but didn’t wanna play. Keep up the good work 👍

    Huffler, you should put two 12hp hangkais on one of those inflatables and see how well it holds up

  • @dakotahrickard
    @dakotahrickard Před 2 měsíci

    I'm very new to inflatables, and I'm seeing prices literally all over the place. Let's start with a basic cheapo question: how is something like this better/different compared to any of the Intex inflatables which are significantly less expensive? (Mariner, Excursion, Seahawk)
    How about the Bris stuff which is about twice the price?

    Do you have a recommendation on prop size for a yamaha 15 HP 4 stroke? I am at 7000 feet and cant seem to get it to go over 10 MPH with about 450 lbs of passenger weight...

    Oh and my hangkai manual is for both the 9hp and the 12hp so I wonder if you are wrong or that guy who told you the motor was a 9.8 is wrong and the 9.8 is the 9.8 and the 12hp is the 12hp

  • @WholeCosmos
    @WholeCosmos Před měsícem

    You could put a thin piece of plywood cut to the shape of the floor to stiffen and flatten out the bottom more. you'd want router the edge and sand it well and seal it to avoid puncturing the side tubes. you'd have the option to put it in or leave it for for portability or make it sectional.

    Hay, on your next video could you look into better seats for inflatable boats such as helm and seats with back support. Thanks

      I have a merc 10hp short shaft and it keeps popping out of the water. My next step is to cut the transom down a few inches.

    • @antinazi1959
      @antinazi1959 Před 3 měsíci +1

      They are very stable for their size, but very light compared to conventional boats so you'll want to keep extra weight in higher wind conditions, also everything is more buoyant in salt water.
