    Amazon CEO Andy Jassy released his letter to shareholders and it had a big takeaway about Amazon’s future. In this video we go through his letter and talk through what it means for Amazon’s business. Also, I added a new stock to my portfolio this week that we break down in detail, and lastly Jamie Dimon the CEO of JP Morgan Chase also released his shareholder letter with some ominous warnings for the stock market.

    Happy AMZN shareholder here too 🙂. I was never a leggings person and didn't own any, until I decided to "try a pair of Lulu just for fun". $128 + tax later, I know why they're worth it 😂

      My wife was the same, she didn’t want to spend on them so I got her a gift card one year for Christmas. Once she tried them she was hooked. I probably needed to invest in LULU for that reason alone lol

    Keep up the good work Matt. I am mostly an ETF guy since I have just started my retirement at 55 but I appreciate your level-headedness towards investing. If I were younger I feel I would follow your lead and try to do just enough different to beat you! 😂😂 Since I am in retirement and old enough to be a little smarter, a very little, I don't worry about beating the S&P. All I need to do is get anywhere near 5% return and I will live out my days comfortably. We are currently in the Salento region of Italy. Grabbing an Airbnb one month at a time.
    Once you win, step away from the game. 😉

    Professor Derron; I have a selfish request; In the Description of each video, could you put links to previous videos you have done on the stock, ETF (or sector) being discussed. I need to do homework on your growth (tech) stocks. You create Great content. Thanks.

    Another good video and analysis of the three companies. I like all 3 companies, especially AMZN. We will continue to hear a lot about A.I. All the big companies are incorporating A.I. into their business and the really big ones, like AMZN, are doing a lot of in-house development of their software and hardware (A.I. chips and incorporating A.I. in their operations and data centers). These companies are investing billions, yes, billions, in A.I. and have been investing in A.I. for years. If you have not researched the A.I. movement thoroughly, it will surprise how much they can do with A.I. I just feel a bit sorry for all the people that are being laid off because A.I. has eliminated their jobs...and will continue to do this going forward. That is the nature of technology.

    Hey Matt! Pretty pumped to see LULU in your portfolio. I started adding to it as well since sub 360. I know I have a bias but I think that’s a phenomenal pick! I hope it keeps tanking to add more!

    • @mattderron
      @mattderron  Pƙed 3 měsĂci +1

      Yes! I would’ve added more but I used a good chunk of funds to add to NVDA because I wanted a higher allocation to it. Planning to continue adding to LULU though especially at these levels!

      @@mattderronanother company you should consider looking into is ULTA. I think it has been oversold and presents a solid valuation currently with room to grow. Would love to see your take on it.

    • @mattderron
      @mattderron  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

      Funny you say that, because ULTA was one of the alternatives I looked at when considering LULU. I decided to compare them against each other since they hit a similar target market.
      LULU had better growth prospects, margins, and no debt. Also ULTA is closer to traditional retail than LULU is (they have their own products, but also sell others) and in general the margins in traditional retail don't interest me that much (I sold LOW, I sold WMT, etc).
      So, I went forward digging into LULU and skipped ULTA for now. That's just my view on it obviously. Cool that we're looking at the same stuff though!

  • @Coyotehello
    @Coyotehello Pƙed 3 měsĂci

    Amazon, I get it their business model and the 'new' CEO. All this is attractive but I haven't pull the trigger. It would also mean that portfolio would approach 12 stock/ETF while I wanted it to be 3 (!).
    Lululemon, Chip Wilson has had serious health issues for decades but he tried to stay running LULU he has since taken some distance and I think that has injected a different energy in the Co. so very interesting. Unfortunately Lulu does pay a dividend so I will wait to see if the stock dip a bit more.
    Inflation. Well there is no doubt in my mind that after the USA election some "adjustments" will be made.
    Great, every Friday from now-on right? ;-)
    Cheers,
    a.

    2-8% only means that he has no idea what the future holds, same as anyone else. He's saying absolutely nothing here. Stagflation is always possible, yeah. Okay, but that was true yesterday, last week, and 10 years from now. The only thing this tells me is today Jamie Dimon has some unknown motivation to worry easily-influenced people.

    • @mattderron
      @mattderron  Pƙed 3 měsĂci

      lol okay. The important part is that their range of expectation for rates is higher than most people are talking about. He’s simply saying his view is not as bullish. What you choose to take or not take with that information is up to you.
      Not sure if by “easily influenced” you’re talking about me, but you sound like you’d be super fun at parties. Take care!

    Hello Matt,
    Great video. Remind me when I bought AMZN at $90 and sold at $15 many many years ago
    I always remember the pick & shovel AND Levi's California Gold Rush business school case study.
    Would you kindly perform an analysis on TSM? Even if AMZN / MSFT / GOOG designed their own chips, I don't think they are going to build foundries and even be able to hire enough engineering talents to manufacture the chips. From my research so far, INTC's foundries are inferior so TSM is the only foundry company on earth and they are building 3 plants in Arizona so it would be a USA protected monopoly from National Security perspective.

    • @mattderron
      @mattderron  Pƙed 3 měsĂci +1

      Thanks - I touched on TSM in the NVDA video, but it's probably worth doing a deep dive on them at some point.
      My high level thought when I was researching NVDA was - they are extremely critical to whatever the future is of semiconductors as one of the top (if not the top) foundry. Intel is trying to get there but the consensus seems to be that they are very far away. But TSM comes with geopolitical risk that I just don't personally know enough about in terms of how serious or likely. That was why Buffett sold out of it as well.
