  • What are the best locations in Cornwall for landscape photography? In this video, I'm going to show you 3 GREAT landscape photography locations in Cornwall that I think will inspire you to photograph Cornwall. All three locations are along the South West Coast Path and are reasonably easy to access. They can also be photographed in most weather conditions (as you'll see).
    If you would like to read a bit more about the locations, see the images in more detail or even read the stories behind them then head on over to my blog at:
    julianbaird.me/blog/2018/10/4...
    Are you looking for even more inspiring locations for your landscape photography in Cornwall? As promised in the video you can access a special bonus video on a 4th location by reading the blog article I just mentioned.
    Finally, if you are looking for even more inspiration I've created a special playlist featuring all my videos from Cornwall. You can check that out here:

    Audio recorded using a Rode Smartlav + (amzn.to/2wMJh8x) and a Zoom H1 (amzn.to/2gyGPfd)
    Aerial video captured using a DJI Mavic Pro (amzn.to/2kGfg8Y)
    Video edited in Adobe Premiere CC (amzn.to/2iX4la4)
    Images shot on a Nikon D850 (amzn.to/2eZiNxd) with a Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 VR (amzn.to/2DUUP0b) Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 VR (amzn.to/2D0PzZx).
    I also used a Lee Filters Circular Polariser (amzn.to/2DMeCQq) and Lee Filters ND Grads (amzn.to/2zmVk22)

    I loved the shots from Sandymouth Beach, so simple. You really made the most out of the patterns in the sand. Cornwall is a great place to for us landscape photographers but I have only just scratched the surface. One of my favourite locations to shoot is the coast line around Kingsand/Cawsand and Rame Head just over the water from Plymouth. I have also spent a few happy hours wandering around the gardens at Mount Edgcumbe; there are a few interesting follies to photograph which come in handy when the weather isn't playing ball.

    Hi Julian, I love this part of the world and don't get there enough. To the likes of me, living many many miles away as I do, there appears to be a lifetime of stunning wild coastal locations photograph. Out of the three locations you show us here, I have visited one, Wheal Coates where I once led a group on a field trip from Slapton Ley in Devon. The weather was typically miserable but it was still a great place to see in the flesh. What a stunning backdrop. Great images throughout!

    Loved my trip to Cornwall in the Summer, and managed to visit some lovely locations on the north Cornwall coast, including taken some shots where you were standing at Boscastle. Hartland Quay was a great location, for coastal work as well as nearby St Catherines Tor. Really nice images captured at each location, but my favourite was at 15:11 👍

      Thanks mate. It may have looked like I was taking a break, but I was committing all my time to creating this video. Hi Julian. You've delivered another great innovative video here - love it !! You gave yourself a tough choice given how many great locations you have in that part of the world. Your images are all fabulous - love the detail that you get in your compositions. How on earth did you get sharp images at Wheale Coates with the wind moving your tripod around? I always find shooting in heather a real challenge as its so springy ! Great to see you referencing Adam Burton's fotoVUE guide - it's going to be my bible when I get down there next year. Regarding your request for shoots from other locations, I'd love to see you do something from Kynance Cove as it's on my to-do list. Really enjoyed this cracking video Julian. Many thanks for sharing.

    • @jbairdexp
      @jbairdexp  Před 5 lety

      Cheers Tim, great to here you got so much from the video. Yes, it was a tough choice to pick just 3 locations. There's so many more that I might just have to do a volume 2 next year! I've visited Kynance Cove with the family and it looks like a great spot for photography so I might just have to do a video there. Also, great to see that you've read all the way down the video description and spotted Adam's book....I always wondered how much of the video description people read! lol My top tip for getting sharp shots in windy conditions is to block the wind with your body as best you can....doesn't work if it's coming straight at your camera though! Thanks again for watching and your continued support. :-)

    Hi Julian, great video blog as usual. I just love the coasts of eastern Cornwall and Godrevy is probably one of my favourites. We're staying at our friends chalet in Hayle in a couple of weeks time so I hope to get out and about with my camera. I'm sure that there are many but I thought I'd offer a pronunciation of Godrevy. I think Glen Sumner, below, got pretty close but I'd like to offer that there isn't so much emphasis on the God as in God-Reevee but Gu-Dreevee. My father-in-law, a certain Mr Trevithick, who originated from Camborne just a few miles away from Gwithian, assures me of this. I'm not going to be one to argue with him... LOL. I'm over to you website now to catch your bonus location. All the best.

    Great video Julian and perfect timing, I am in Cornwall next week for a week's photography (and time with the wife apparently!!), Godrevy Point is going to be about 15 minutes from our cottage so your video couldn't have come at a better time. Don't want to spend ages in the car whilst in Cornwall so will focus photography trips to that far end of the county. The bonus location is going to be worth a look, it appears nice and dramatic.
