My #1 Exercise for Knee Pain | Qigong + Finnish Logging

- I share the #1 most effective exercise I used to save my knees from years of damage due to overzealous Yoga in my early 20s, and some bad advice from martial arts instructors in my mid 20s. This technique has been used for centuries in East Asia to prevent knee pain and deterioration with huge societal success. Ben Patrick AKA Knees Over Toes Guy added some resistance techniques he learned from Finnish logging traditions that seem to add even greater benefit. Hope this helps you as much as it did me!

Thank you, you know I'm walking around my house backwards from now on.🙌🏼😀
There's a couple in my neighborhood who walk on the bike path opposite eachother - one walks forward and the other backwards - now I know why! Great video - thanks!
Thank you Nick for this , going to start doing this exercise !!
Yaaay so great to hear you spreading Ben’s work to the qi gong community - soo important for people to realise they are able to heal their knees 🥰 Thank you
Thank you Nick🧡, it is an excellent practice to walk backwards, trains the brain and coordination as well 🙂
Strengthens hip muscles . Hip strengthening is key to saving the knee.
Interesting. I will definitely try that😊
Very interesting, never heard of this before, thank you for sharing!
Super cool! Also interesting, out of nowhere my knees started hurting this morning and then BAM here you are talking about knee pain and exercises! Maybe your next vid should be on mind reading! :) Thanks for sharing. I'll be giving this a try starting today. And will most def share with friends.
Well, Nick, because of your comments in the past, I have been walking backwards outside for about a week. I go for about 1 km in one or two parts of my walk. I notice where my feet go ( toes first) and have also noticed that I start to "feel" a bit of not quite discomfort in my hips and knees -- no pain, just awareness really. The surprise is that when I go forwards afterward, I seem to re-orient my balance. No pain or diziness , just different. Thank you for more clarity here and I plan to do this a lot more. Way to go, Nick !
Been having chronic knee pain. Going to try this one to get my knees in better health😊
Did you try this and if so, did it help?
Super thank you! 😊
This is very exciting Nick. Thank You!! I was joking with a friend that at 60 I am just learning how to really walk up and down a flight of steps! This backward walking should be another layer of help.
I have menuscus tare of both knees.i started backward walking for 5days. Literally no pain in the knee.Really felt as if no menuscus tare.Thank you Nick
That’s amazing to hear! Good job and keep it up ☺️
Thank you.slowly almost walked for an hour last five days and literally felt like bullet proof knee
You are actually a very very good teacher.
Hello Nick. Thanks for the tips. I have been walking backwards for a few years now. On slopes in town, or in nature. Either just for fun, but also because it was less painful on the knees!
I didn't know about these exercises. I suppose if one does them regularly, it does help blood flow in the knee joints. I'll try and do them more often.
Thanks for confirming the back walk! 😉 And interesting detail of the Finnish loggers! 👍
Hi Nick, love your videos. I wondered if you had any suggestions (or potential videos in the pipeline!!) for Achilles Tendinopathy/Bursitis...?? Many thanks
I love Qigong and recently been incorporating ATG stuff into my morning practice. I did not know that KOTG got it from east Asian culture. Amazing how it's come full circle!
Beautiful work Nick, nuff respect from northwest England
My thoughts exactly!
Japan (Reiki) and China (Qigong) have the highest life expectancy, despite China and Japan being some of the most polluted places in the World
I'm 76 years old and have had a double knee placement. Would this help? I am working on stability. I do a backward walk when I do Repulse the Monkey form.
I have a wagon(stroller). Is it a good idea to pull them in it? I'd be using my arms and you kept saying to put things around your waist.. I have knee pain that comes and goes.
Thanks so much! I am really grateful for your content 🥰
brother be as grateful as possible for having the privilege of being in a cold place that appears to have snow. I live in Brazil and here it is literally almost impossible to be even close to this one....From this incredible reality of being in front of the snow and a colder climate, for me it would be incredible. It is a dream to be and live in a place like this. Thanks for the video and for your willingness to bring it up,to the public for us. Thank you very much! Bring techniques and exercises related to the person who is starting total seminal retention. Gratitude brother.
Thanks brother! Yes, this place is pretty epic. Its actually a hot spring behind me! Was quite refreshing after filming :)
I have been thinking of doing some retention videos. Thanks for the nudge!
20 years ago I lived next door to a family from China, every evening they would walk the neighborhood backward. Now I understand why. Both my knees are wambly from each being sprained one from yoga, the other from skiing. Qi gong really helped, especially Lee’s Iron shirt. Thanks for this Nick, I can’t wait to go out and try it this evening!
Similar to tai chi walking backwards?
Dank u wel! Nick goed voor een vriendin van mij
Supposedly good for kidney health as per Chinese medicine. Been doing it 3 -4 times a week
Would this work walking backwards upstairs? If you make sure you lead with your toe?
If you can do so without pain that might work!
@@TheNickLoffree Be careful MP Nunan!
Try going down stairs backwards. It doesn't strengthen the knees, but it reduces the stress immensely.
