Nice! My daughter and I did this today and had tons of fun. Thank you!
What size lettering did you use?
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank You so much for your instructions. This video really helped me.
I am so happy that it helped you! Thank you for watching!
love my silhouette cameo...
Great job!
Thank you!
Very nice!
Thank you!
Thank you
Hey Jessica, I love your jars. Do you have a video on how you did the pinkish one? Also how many layers did you put on of the wicker white?
I put on as many as I felt was necessary to cover the white. As far as the pink goes. I just applied a pink chalk paint and then dry brushed some black while the pink was wet.
I can’t figure out why you have such thick solid white coverage and mine looks all see through, hopefully it will be fine once I bake it
I did multiple coats of the white before baking. I let each coat dry for a bit before moving on to the next coat.
Thanks for the great video. Random question, where did you get the white holder on the wall in the background that is holding your paints?
I believe I got it at Walmart.
Thanks for the tutorial. Did you get your folk art paint from Michael's?
Yes I did!
Thanks for the tutorial. Do you put a clear coat once you finished painting?
Yes I use Polycrylic! Check out our blog for the step by step instructions!

What’s the purpose of the white coat?
Thanks for the tutorial. Is that Kleenex container the same height as the mason jar? I have a different jar that is a different size (smaller). I’m concerned that Perfect Fit won’t work.
I am not sure. I took the kleenex out of the container. I am sure once it touched the bottom of the jar, it sank down a bit. As long as they are still "rolled together" in the usual kleenex style, it should be fine. You could also cut the end of the kleenex bundle off if you are worried about it.
I have the baked enamel coating on, and the 2 coats of chalk paint. The second coat looks all bumpy :( how can I fix this once it’s dry? Should I do the chalk wax over once done? Also, assuming I can only do the chalk wax coating if I stencil, but not if I use vinyl, is this right?
correct on the wax. how long did you wait before painting the second coat of chalk paint?
Jessica Ansley overnight. I baked the jars again and I think they look good now. I’m also not used to chalk paint... but I do think my folk art brand went on nicer than the Michael’s store brand , craftsmart? So... I have 4 to finish, was thinking of doing Vinyl on all, since seeing a post of how badly someone’s chalk paint stenciling bled on top of chalk paint background. Does the vinyl adhere well on the baked paint? Also, I have polycrylic spray, do you think that would work over the jars w/vinyl? Ty!!!
I know you said you got the mason jar from Michael's but I've been to 3 different ones all the jars they sell there have writing on them if the name of the jar company. How did you find a jar without ball or measurements or any writing on it?
If you can't find them at a Michaels Store, you can find them at Walmart. :-) They have off brands that also don't have writing on them.
But honestly, I just went into the store and asked for the smooth ball mason jars and they showed me where they were. they look like these.

I followed the steps to a t but when I went to pull up the vinyl it pulled up my chalk paint :(. Any ideas on why and what I can do to not have this happen. I’m so sad
What type of vinyl did you use as your stencil?
how u get the tissues to sit like that ours come in boxes
They carry the Kleenex Perfect Fit containers at walmart, which are already rolled in a cylinder container.

But not everyone lives near a Walmart =/
Maybe take your tissues out of the box and rolling them.
Love your video! When I'm painting I skipped the first step of white. Will the chalk paint still be fine? Also, how are you making yours so smooth? Thin layers for me and still brush marks?
I am using barely ANY pressure and just using the tip of the brush to apply the paint. I use the base coat and baking process because it gives a good layer for the chalk paint to grab on to and helps keep things smooth and you also have to do less layers of chalk paint.
A pounce brush will make this easier. No streaks!
Hi, do you just use one coat of the wicked white?
I used as many as it took so that I couldn't see through the paint.
do you peel the stencil off while the paint is still wet?
As I am using chalk paint, so its not necessary. but usually if using acrylic based I would recommend removing before drying.
LOVE YOUR KLEENEX JAR GOOD VIDEO BUT WISH BYOU NWOULD GO A LITTLESLOWER WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE KLEENEXESIN A TUBE NEVER SEEN THOSE BEFOREV WOULD YOUN PLEASE EMAIL ME GOOD VIDEO
Sorry! If I went too slow, The video would be 30 minutes long! You can always rewind and pause to get the info!
I got my kleenex from walmart. They are called "Perfect Fit" and then come in packs of 3.

Great tutorial but would have been even better without the music
Thanks for the suggestion. I felt it would be pretty boring for folks to just sit there and watch a time lapse without any other stimuli.
That’s why there is a mute button
Would foam board work as the dispenser top?
No. It would be too thick.
Just a question can you spray paint these?
you can try. I wouldn't recommend it because the few times I tried, my paint cracked and lifted rather quickly. But some have had success. I have seen anyone have success with doing the stencil portion on a spray painted jar as the adhesive lifted the paint.
why the white first
I apply the white first for two reasons. First, it gives the chalk paint a surface to grab onto so that the paint doesn't just chip off of the glass, and secondly, it helps with keeping the top paint colors true to color and allows for less coats.
what font are you using for the red jar?
It was one of my designs from my design bundle! It is one of the freebie designs included with the 7 designs.

What sealer do you recommend?? Brand?
I use Polycrylic on these.
Do you apply the sealer once your done with everything or before you apply the vinyl? I have tried this and the paint peels off?
lose the awful music ...
just mute the video once it starts. if I lost the "awful music" it would be the same as a muted video.
