I came from Phoenix SC. This datapack looks very cool, I had no idea you could make chunks blue like that and also lock them. I will try this out.

Here's an idea: every while and then there are random patches of lots of unlocked chunks so exploring at an endgame stage isn't absolutely impossible.

This looks fantastic! One mechanic I wish it had is like being able to lock chunks behind you once they have been unlocked so you could zone out spots on a server and be able to set what it takes to unlock them.
I’ve heard this a lot! We might have to make an alternative mode.
Honestly, expand the chunk borders to be large biome/region borders and you have a cool rpg mechanic on your hands

@@AvidMcOr give players an option, either 1 chunk, 4 chunks, 9, 16, 25 per "lock"
yeah, and make players fight together for a lot of resources to unlock a region. multiple stacks even. just so every new region becomes exponentially more exciting.
Make it configurable, or grow with the number of players. (or both)

I'm actually trying this for myself, and it has been pretty fun.
Only thing I would change is that you could like right click the requested item to see exactly what it is. I had trouble distinguishing between stripped oak and stripped birch stuff sometimes.
Also, I had an instance where the border of a locked chunk wasn't appearing while I was underground though, just a small bug. Didn't affect anything though, just confused me for a sec. Only that one time
That's a highly requested feature that I think I can manage! We've also noticed some funkiness with Optifine and chunk borders. Not sure if you use Optifine.

This is such an awesome concept, it harkens back to some old maps I loved, but now with the power of modern Minecraft it's its own new and improved gamemode! Gonna binge this whole series soon but, just wanted to say it already looks awesome. B)

i have to ask, is it coded so it chooses any available item? meaning ifi i were to add mods it would use modded items aswell?
@@MusiclLordEntertainmentgood question. Every biome was coded painstakingly by hand by me. I wish there was a technical way to handle modded biomes.
@@AvidMc yeah. i tested. it works with mods. but the requirements to unlock are vanilla. still interesting it runs with mods enabled tho
I’m so used to stuff like nuzlock so I thought it was like once you leave a chunk you can never go back. This is also a cool idea though and makes much more sense for a challenge

I would love if someone made gamemode similar to this but instead of chunks there would be single colums of blocks to unlock the name could be blocklock
Honestly this sounds incredibly fun especially for a modpack that has like, thousands of items
I love this idea! Maybe make the prices more expensive aka use something like an iron ingot or 5 coal pieces for later chunks.
They do get more expensive as you go on!

I played this myself then this video popped up! A lot of fun, but very difficult, ESPECIALLY with fortresses and strongholds, since so much exploration is required. 10/10.

This absolutely genius, this fixed all the problems challange like this have, in most you either dont have the resources to do a lot of things or you dont have the space, this fixed both problems and still is a challange

This reminds me of a concept I came across on Reddit a while ago.
Instead of each specific chunk being locked, they were locked outside a given radius around a specific villager. To increase the radius you'd complete 'quests' for the villager.
That's about as far as the concept went when I came across it, but it stuck with me.
I imagine having to move this villager around with you if you wanted to explore, which definitely sounds like a chore -- but also a challenge, and of course a huge motivation to complete quests and expand the radius. I'm not sure what's actually possible with datapacks but 'fetch quests' are a given, and I assume you could also have 'kill X# of specific mob' quests, ones tied to certain challenging achievements, etc.
There's also the case where that villager might die. As punishment for having failed to protect him, maybe you start over with a new villager.. and maybe there's mechanics where you can offset how many 'levels' that new villager starts with relative to the one who died.
That is a really really cool idea
