My head canon is that whenever Steve crafts anything that doesn’t physically make sense, he keeps the extra bits in case he needs an extra bit of iron for door hinges, cork for bottles, paddle for boats, etc

Planks being hollow makes so much sense. Planks and logs are made out of the same stuff, and presumably have the same density, but one somehow quadruples itself upon being crafted.
6:21 i dont know how this occured in survival, but in bedrock there used to be a command where you could place a lava_cauldron using /setblock or /fill i think, when filled with water, it would look like a dark lava texture.
It occurred in survival because ever since 1.20 dropped, placing water in a cauldron does that. I have no clue how that bug was even made. Nothing in the update affects cauldrons, so how did that happen?

The plank blocks being hollow makes actual sense to me. Like i thought immediately "its just more dense. Same mass. Different volume"
the "no mods" clip is done by teleporting invisible shulkers (the only mob that you can stand on) a tiny bit very quickly along with having a floating block entity follow it to give it a texture.
The real question is what happens to the rest of the wood when you make a button?

Wooden Planks not beeing solid blocks makes sense. You take the wood, cut it into multiple planks and then nail them to a cube.

On the note of repairing tools, in my experience digging and picking (yes I've gotten around in my days) it's always the handle that gives before the head of your tool. So yes the wood should be more impactful than the material your pick is made of

Since 2 wood got compressed into a plate, the author of the comment said that it's as if so much pressure was applied onto this plate, that the reason it's called a pressure plate isn't because it takes pressure and sends a redstone signal, but because the 2 wood planks it was out of were compressed so much they turned into a plate

You gotta tear up both of those blocks to find the good piece of wood. That's why there's a bunch of particles when you craft pressure plates, buttons, etc. You can then use those scraps to make a stopper for a bottle :)

For those wondering the first post is a reference to an old gore animation involving an anime girl, laser beams, and viscera.
The original post itself almost certainly doesn’t contain any gore, but rather it’s just a minecraft build of the aforementioned laser beam death machine.
The original animation is all pixelated so it’s really quite tame compared to the other things you might see on the internet from the early/mid 2000s, but it’s perfectly understandable why it’s censored.

Edit: If ya'll are wondering, 64 buttons because a button has the volume of 48 pixels but round it up to 64 and you get 64 of them from a block because 64 * 64 = 4096 = 16 * 16 * 16 or 2^6 * 2^6 = 2^12 = 2^4 * 2^4 * 2^4 or 6 + 6 = 12 = 4 + 4 + 4, basic math.

That said, you shouldn't be repairing your tools with raw resources anyways, especially shovels.
Well, as Steve carries his inventory inside his mouth, it likely means that the items get wet often. In that case, the wood is not going to be in a good condition for long.

Mathematically speaking, at least 32 pressure plates should be made at a time with two planks, with maybe 8 more being possible from the sides of the planks being cut out.
