That trimmed belly piece on the front bumper sagging like that is going to act as a huge scoop pouring air into the engine bay, rather then diverting it under the car. You should really fab up an aluminum frame to support that leading edge and seal it to the IC with some automotive foam tape.
Also, make sure you have those drums of fuel grounded.
More likely it will provide an easy path for air to flow around the IC and radiator instead of flowing through them and doing the proper cooling work. (they'll still work just not as well)
In other words - I am betting air will flow out that under-tray hole not in.
@@edmcguirk8603 the air will flow into the gap between that sagging trim and the bottom of the IC and across the top of the under tray. The air will not reverse course and flow towards the front of the car as you suggest.
I do agree that the IC has a higher likelihood of performing worse in this scenario.
@@jlehm The way I see it, the under-tray hole is partially protected by the front lip. The air flowing through the grill piles up in front of the IC and drops down through the hole in the under-tray into the low pressure under the car. Bypassing the IC and radiator. If that flow catches the under-tray and balloons it downwards, sure, that's very bad.
@@edmcguirk8603 we’re not totally in agreement nor disagreement then. 👍👍
Surprised no one argued with the barrels of HAZMAT being grounded. Every large shop ought have a ground post for that reason.
That Supra looks so nice! All the little subtle choices you've made along the way have added up perfectly and it looks grand! Gonna have to do something really special with the GT-R for it to compete!
absolutely beautiful, must feel good to wrap this build up. great job gentleman
I can fully understand the switch back to the softer transmission mount. I installed a Powerflexx transmission mount bushing into my 86 a couple of years ago and the car rattled so hard inside, that the breaking LED-bar behind the rear glass became loose. I drove maybe for 10 km, and changed it back immediately.
I don't think the TRD would be that stiff tho lmao
The gearbox mount gets ''softer'' after a little while, one of my favorites are poly bushings that are ''drilled'' to absorb vibrations but not lose the precision...
Hell YEAH!!!! So pumped right now.
For the hood insulation I would still look for something to protect the frame, maybe check with DEI what they propose as viable option cuz that turbo setup will definitivelly heat things up a lot. Think that the original twin setup has a ton of covers and still heats the hell up the hood even with the horrible OEM foam.
I'd get something newer & in good shape from a breakers yard & trim it to fit.
You guys have a amazing set of cars. Would love to see more about that Porsche in the background.
I have used xs batteries in my cars for audio systems. Was able to go smaller than the normal size with 2-3 times the power.
You guys have such a good eye for the OEM plus look. Love it
Love the batteries, interesting to find out what on earth would need that much power 🤔
Loved them til i saw the price.. holy hell
Got 6 12" subs on a 14k in the back yo.
@@RumblesBettr usually how it goes with high performance parts.
@@TheBANDEMIC It's really nice for most car audio applications.
@@TheBANDEMIC even 90% of people claiming to be car guys, won't even understand the proper electrical current for anything performance added on a stock vehicle.
OEM+ should be a trend. Awsome build
You guys likely know this, but if you don't put some sort of tube retainer or zip tie on the vacuum hoses to the boost controller they can leak and/or pop off. My 996 turbo is notorious for this, so we zip tied every single connection to prevent the issue in cold weather or higher boost applications. Beautiful build!
Love your videos! Watched every one since I subbed at 50k! Really loving this build, both these cars are so special!!!
That being said, you gotta find a way to connect the front lip to the stock plastic diffuser. That big gap is gonna let air pass around the intercooler instead of forcing it through. I mean its not like the car is gonna overheat or anything, its just not optimal.
Super clean! Supra turned out amazing guys! XS Power does have a huge following in the audio world as well. Ive seen people throw 20 batteries in one vehicle lol
Love it guys, looks awesome. The only OCD tweak I'm getting is the cam cover, would be great for that to be black as well (or body color), but not a big deal. Great work.
I am loving this car, the colour of wheels, the lip kit, the interior all come together.
Please make the next video of the dyno as comprehensive as possible.Would really like to see what will happen with all of these housings. Tnx guys. Greetings from Greece.
This ended up being one of my most favorite series on youtube.Cant believe it.So exicted for the future.
Did anyone one else count Dave's fingers at the beginning just incase? Haha awesome build guys!
XS Power batteries are very popular when it comes to massive car sound system builds. Great option for the supra👌🏻
Just finished bingeing the Evo 6 series and saw this came out, so much for getting anything done this morning. ;)
I hope your tuner is better this time.
Looking forward to it guys! love to see these two wrapped up and awaiting the melt! Im right there with ya, waiting for snow and salt to leave!
great idea on the reflective foil. looks proper.
Car looks amazing, love the exhaust setup
Looking perfect! Would’ve loved a ceremonial start up but great job!!
Car looks so good 👌🏻
Wheels, brakes the exhaust all look damn nice 😍
Supra looks so dam good. Don't see that many red ones but I sure do like them 🤙👍
Final execution and finished Supra looks great!!!
Great choice with the DEI heat shield! The car looks amazing!!!
Awesome build guys! Very excited for the dyno videos
Congrats on finishing the build, its awesome. Excited to see the next dyno episodes and the culmination of this series.
When I think Supra, this is what I see in my head. Such a clean OEM+ look. Beauty build guys!
Great job fellas! Love the simpler, subtle look. 👌👌👌
Hay DP and PT you guys rock! such an awesome journey those builds with you. TO the PETRIONNNNN. Really thank you guys!
So beautiful !! Love watching the progress
Very clean build, well done guys
This is perfection, don't ever sell this.
From someone that went from aftermarket fibreglass to OEM front bumper with TRD style lip on their Supra - if you are running no undertray, or in your case a cut one, you will want to reinforce the lower edge with a strip of metal for rigidity. Without this I found my whole bumper and front lip bowed in at high speed which unfortunately deformed it to the point that it wouldn’t bend back
I used a strip of curved aluminium riveted to the bottom inside edge of the lip and now have full SRD aluminium undertrays at the front, which has greatly improved the rigidity and fitment of the front bumper
17:25 that plastic under IC will not flap at higher speeds? Is it stiff enough? Or there will be no high speed wind near that plastic?
Look forward to seeing your turbo testing, car turned out incredible
true stunner you guys have built! great work boys
well done. looks very good. love this build guys!
Looks really good ! But, I am nitpicking now, it could use some center caps for the wheels. That would finish it off for me
Hey! The hood heat insulation is a very cool idea! Looks good +5 hp 😃, is effective (paint protection from heat) +5hp! What would really complete the look would be doing the rest of the hood (not just on top of turbo) if not all, then definetly alongated part of to the left of turbo. Cool stuf guys!
DewlaDesigns makes an aftermarket metal splash shield and under tray that replaces all the plastic pieces. Have them on my supra and love them.
I have lithium batteries on my motorcycles and was just thinking about this yesterday when was removing the very heavy AGM battery out of our Mk8 GTI. Changing it out is something I'd like to do in the future. That Supra came out amazing.
Those big XS power batteries do wonders for big car audio systems. I think they are basically the go to brand in that world.
100%, I them breaking into the light weight battery game is going to start being the same way.
You should do the whole underside of the hood like that. Looks good
Such a great job on such an amazing car!
Amazing build, great job!!
I've a TRD transmission mount on my JZZ30 Soarer (which has a V160) - Alot of people I know have switched back to stock as they say the TRD one is too firm. Either way, I'm happy with mine.
Your Supra is looking great btw!
Loved the montage when setting up the boost controller
Sucks the weather is bad up there... Here in Cali we haven't had rain since December and its been 60-75F in Jan and Feb.
Looks perfect! Amazing job.
Guys...each time you leave me mesmerized with the results of your cars...my good afternoon from Greece...
Great work, it looks absolutely beautiful.
looking forward to the turbo and fuel testing!
You guys deserve substantially more views than you currently get because your work is top notch - the builds, craftsmanship, camera work, edits, etc. I don’t know your guy’s come up story, but with all the specialty tools, high-quality production and especially how you present dialogue makes your videos seem inauthentic or like you’re just a couple of guys who were hired by a huge company to make videos on their behalf
Beautiful Supra. I stick with conventional batteries. Although lighter, lithium vehicle batteries have too many dangers and drawbacks.
I love what you guys did with the under hood insulation. It's honestly the right call, I've personally seen turbo cars catch on fire before where the gross old hood insulation has touched the turbo.
LOVE THE WHEEL SETUP
Central Florida, home of the endless summer, is calling Speed Academy! Hellooooooo💪
Wow! Second favorite car you guys have built in my opinion. The 964 just holds a special place in my heart.
What an absolutely stunning build. Love this car, looks perfect!
Are you not worried that the under tray is going to catch the wind and with it trimmed pull itself off since it no longer has any bolts up front in the center section?
Dyno is going to be awesome!!
Man she looks good!! OEM+ is the best way to shots imo👌🏼
Hopefully that undertray doesn’t flap once to get up to speed😬
Really curious about the dyno test results for the different turbo configs, I've been considering swapping to the G30-770 myself so that's perfect!! (granted, any modern turbo is going to be better than the old T78 on the GT-R now)
Love love love the CE28N's. Perfect wheel choice and in bronze too.
What a beautiful Supra. Just love that OEM plus look.
Looks so damn good
Get those wheels some center caps asap! Just the icing on the cake
Beautiful job, under the hood and everywhere else! Can't wait to see it tested in anger!
Definitely made the right choice going with the OEM look and not the body kit. Great looking car and great job Dave and Pete. Looking forward to a drive and a dyno test.
a battery relocation to the trunk would clean up the bay and improve weight distribution.
Wow !!
Well done guys.
Well done !!👍🏼
This supra is looking great guys. Really. It's so clean and simple. Love it.... So... When do we get back to Connie? Our first love and rush
An e85 tuned response set up with the timing you can throw at it would make for an insane ride
That supra looks nice and typically im actually not a huge fan of the look of a mk4 but this reignites that flame for me however i have to say its team gtr all the way. They’re complicated to get right but when they are, they’re just amazing.
Really enjoyed the chill music during this video
Wish y’all showed how you slapped the vinyl on the battery. Maybe could do a CZcams short next time.
Car is beautiful have really enjoyed the build y’all have done
U did great job on this supra.. cant wait too see this diamond on dyno n track
A possible mistake cutting up that under tray.
I would have tried reshaping it with a heat gun first and only cut it if that didn't work.
I love that y'all are going to dyno test all the different turbo setups!!! Can't wait to see
Those StopTech calipers are gorgeous, great choice.
Eager to see what's in store for the R34 to up it's decel game.
The JDM content is really nice. Legend cars and your refinement are second to none. But I really miss your tracktests. K20 miata, civics etc i really loved the comperances and tests. Hope to see more tracktest in the future.
I think you guys would enjoy the Kein transmission mount also
The underside of the hood looks awesome
Love the hood liner but reckon it would look better if you did the whole thing.
doing those bigger turboes you really would want to have twin scroll and cams and a big flowing header, but will be great to see what the difference is on your setup...
Nice like all your cars but you should paint the intake black to match rest
When using a smaller turbo for response you need to ensure you have a big waste gate to keep the turbo from choking the engine or over speeding the turbine.
Great job loving ur videos more please. They sell carbon fiber under tray ducting for the brakes and one for the front mount intercooler
This car is so well done id drive it every day and never sell it.
Great build. Take what works and make it better. A true legend made relevant again. Once the weather improves, I'm looking forward to seeing how it runs. It's gotta be a monster.
This thing is perfection! Well done gents!
lithium has a lot of advantages but they're a lot more sensitive to heat. im kinda worried the battery wont lasts as long as it should be when they're fitted on the engine compartment
They will just stop working near freezing. BTDT.
Bunch of people have removed the OEM hood heatshield. No issues with the paint even with bigger single turbo.
You may also want to swap the exhaust housings about on the road as the dyno may not give you all transient response info compared to actually driving them.
Looking forward to the dyno test video 👍
You guys did great!
Good stuff guys awesome 👏 work
Awesome build!
