- With a fresh coat of vinyl, a full retune, and a lot of the broken bits fixed since the last race, our GLTC AE86 roll back onto the grid with a lot of optimism and ambition. We gave it our best shot, stayed out of trouble, and had a great weekend with a cherry on top at the end. Life could not be better :)

That car control is absolute class🔥
cleanest car on the grid
… for now 🤣
I want to agree, but Kutil's Civic is a JTCC dream.
Here for the AE86 content. Good driving dude!
This car makes me so happy. Can't wait for Connie and the Dream86 to have some fun around TMP together!
Great video, the pedal cam make it more imerssive, the panic when you lock the rear and nice clutch kick, thank you for these video
"If AE86 had an Anime Opening! GLTC intro" once enuf memories are made 🙏🙏🙏🤞
86 Lookin FIRE
Brah!!! Serious Marlboro vibes I love it! You’re now the Marlboro Man!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Car looks fantastic. Such delicious 80s flavor.
GridLife should invite Hot Version to come check out an event. Maybe you could actually get DK himself to drive your car. 😂
A roof 360 cam would be cool too. That way you can show the other cars position as you battle.
GLTC is just SCCA GT and TC from the 2000's but modern. Really cool.
I wasn’t following SCCA back then but sounds like I missed out as a kid 😅
gotta love it, gotta have it! as time goes on things will get sorted out and I'm looking forward to seeing how far up the grid you can get with everything working as intended!
Fully understand the challenge part. I also have an AE86 with 9AGTE with 500whp and no ABS, no traction control, no power steering and love it. It is an analog beast you need to tame it…. Thumbs up for building and racing it!
Brother!!!! That was absolutley fantastic to watch, FREEKING BRILLIANT!!!!
Love it!!! Wheel to wheel racing with the 86!
lightweight low power builds seem to have it so rough in GLTC....nice driving Jackie! oh and you need a rear view camera so we can see the cars on your tail!
So much fun sliding around with you in the rain! I think my car has a similar raw, not easy to drive experience like your 86. We need to find an excuse to have you drive it. I’m glad I didn’t get too in the way ahead a lap down. See you at Road America?
Damn this video had it all. What a journey
I would love too the addition of a Wheel camera on one of the front wheels in another split s
creen.. Watching the wheels follow his inputs, I imagine would be epic to see.
Oh boy, one more camera to keep charged throughout the weekend and one more video to try and sync up with the main cam, pedal cam and data overlay 🤣🤣
I typically spend at least 2-3 hours just making sure all the pedal cam and data overlay are in sync with the main cam. Obviously an Aim Smartycam simplifies some of that but I prefer to put out content that doesn’t look like it came from a camera made in the 80s
It’s like you have no VTC in that K!? You had it on the dyno?
We should have VTC but I don’t have data logging working in this car yet. Post event we did find several cracks in the header, so that might have been the issue too
I really enjoyed the racing, broadcast and your resilience.
Great car and development
AMAZING!!!! LOVE THE INTRO
E46 going bowling at the start of race 2 lol
Hell yeah!! Awesome video and amazing build homie!!
Dude…. Oh man…. So entertaining! What a car! Absolutely stunning! Definitely post more of this car. I will watch them all. Where is the die-cast model?
This is the best content man! Love it.
Such great content man, amazing driving and build. Would love to see behind the scenes of the changes into the next event ❤
As a great philosopher once said; "Better a slow car fast, than a fast car slow."
It’s so sick dude 🥲
So good! cant beat a good ole 86. you probably had more fun than most! literally reminded me of Tsuchiya in the one of the Best Motoring vids from the early 2000's
you guys did it so quick, amazing car. AT some point you have more fun in that than in huge hp cars. Congrats guys great job
Financially impossible to compete in this series, but great to watch the clips!
You got to Midwest way early!
Excellent video. Many thanks for racing your dream car!
There's a lot you can do to improve the AE86's handling. You know... you can get 1-2 degrees of rear camber if you rebuild the rear axle with the right shims. Might be just what you need to battle properly in the corners!
Take a look at beau Yates ae86, he has this and was able to change it at different tracks
Pretty sure everyone loves the AE86 content! Nice job on the first race :)
I see a new PhD Racing vlog, instant energy rush for me.
Also, I really love the car control throughout the race so much!^^
Get it bro!
If you can get the rear end to hook, you might be able to fight with that old tin can. You may be able to do a decent lap with a car that loose, but you can't place it well mid corner or maintain pace on a compromised line in the pack it's going to be a tough go. Grip looked a lot better on the third race. Dropped rear tire pressures? Sure looks fun!
I love this car and the driving! hard to tell from the videos though but it looks like it could do with a letter less rear compression
You would have been top10 easily if that suspension was sorted - was a handful.
Love it man! But wtf was that car thinking into T1 at the start of race 2?
Let’s gooo
When you mentioned the car is geared too short for Gingerman, may I ask what transmission and final drive you're using? I have a similar project, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be miserable with the final drive I've chosen.
Hey man, awesome car control. What camera do you use for your helmet?
The steering wheel misaligned wasn’t a distraction? I had something similar in my last race and made the corners feel never ending. Anyway, great car, great race!
Great driving! Why is the car so slow on the straights comparatively?
Do you have someone helping with the rear suspension/strait axle tuning? I know in a different video you mentioned redoing the rear link mounts at some point.
The way it appears to be handling looks similar to a lot of the issues I worked through with my cutlass. Getting the rear geometry figured out will transform the way it drives.
Uhhh you have an inventory of 86 replacement body panels hidden away?!?
Daniil Kvyat Torpedo Strike! 19:00
BF Goodrich?!? Where the Nankang?!? 😂
Was wondering when it was going to get a livery
Looks like Ben from g&g checking out your car 😊
Maybe addapting a multilink rear suspension, i feel the truck rearend ... i mean the solid rear axle has its limitations on handling...
The car looks sick… but where's the yellow fog lamps?
They’re literally like a grand a pair lol
@@JackieDing86 Bruh. The JDM tax is real. Maybe DIY? Just for the lolz? 😂
Need sone ponys !!
You should install racing ABS.
3sgt3... Needed
Oh, so ben didnt get the civic fixed in time
What does it weigh?
Wtf is wrong with the towlos e46? 😮 19:10
Ambition outran talent & grip
tell me about it. zero brake lights, just kept on plowing through. hit them for a moment finally at the apex, then kept plowing through. I hope there was at least an issue somewhere and not just stupidity, but it seemed like they were divebombing people constantly in a previous race and caused incidents there too, but I might be confusing it with another car. if not, I hope Adam says they're out. whole point of GLTC is no-contact close racing.
@@casefc3s And there is also the fact that, after everything happend, he continued racing like nothing happend with the front end smashed in
Man you gotta figure out a way to dial out the oversteer.. it’s killing your overall time you lose so much fighting the car in every corner.
All of that chaos at the start of race 2 was caused by car #89, the blue/white bmw who decided he was playing gran turismo and used about 5 cars ahead of him instead of the brakes to slow down. Thats the #1 reason I stay away from competitive wheel to wheel. I've seen my fair share of that bullshit and I dont work endlessly on my car to have some dude with more money than brains crash into me for a hobby.
whoever rear-ended in turn 1 must have thought he was playing forza haha
Does the class allow stickier tires?
GLTC is limited to 200TW tires, and only select ones (No A052, no RE71RS, etc.). Jackie is definitely limited in compound choices due to the wheel size sadly.
Genuine concern is always welcome lol
The rear tyres must be made of hard plastic 😅
Hey @jackie or anyone else, when you/he catches himself in a low rpm range, esp coming out of a corner, but not worth the downshift, I think hes dumping the clutch quickly like in 28:50, why is that, would you not upset the car or the balance by jolting the drivetrain or causing traction slip when it reengages? If someone could explain that would be awesome!
29:56 god i feel this, im in a duel in time attack with a ND who gaps me on every straight ive never been more humiliated
It's an old trick people use when dropping out of the power band but down-shifting would be too slow or not beneficial. Essentially, by stepping on the clutch, it allows the engine to rev up, higher into the power band, then dropping the clutch will give a "boost" because of that, pushing it out of the engine "lugging" at lower RPMs quicker than just staying flat. Hope that makes sense.
more 86 pls
A rear view camera angle would be better than a camera on your feet.
That was me playing that music at 18:00. Sorry.
Love the car control but car too free… sliding all over the corners… hopefully you can get lil more out of the handling
the car really has no power, getting smoked by everyone
Why in the world did I get rid of my ae86?!!!
I’m 2 in and looking into a 3rd. Lol
@@JackieDing86 keep up the build. I want to see how well this thing do.
So annoying watching you loose of the progress on the straights😅
In addition to my other comment, I watched your setup video, a day of testing wasted where your lap times did not improve at all. I wouldn't have returned to the track without making big changes to change the balance of the car. Oversteer before the apex is just bullshit. I don't know how someone can build a circuit AE86 so badly. It has all been done so many times before and there are proven combos that just work.
OK, it all makes sense now. I watched the video of the car in the workshop where Jackie said the car was already over-steering but changed to stiffer rear springs for more over-steer. Jackie Ding, you are a fool who is not serious about circuit racing. BTW changing springs is a dumb way to tune roll stiffness.
Wow you should go write a book, and name it “How to build a race car”, and tell us about how you built championship winning machines in Need For Speed.
@@BoostdPanda I am not familiar with Need for Speed sorry. I read the Milliken book when it first came out 3 decades ago and still refer to it occasionally. Please let me know if anything I have said is factually incorrect.
@@MotoWot Cowarding behind the keyboard, and calling someone who is putting in their time, money, and effort, doing it for real in front of the camera "polish turd" and "a fool". Did anyone else tastes salt here too??
@@MotoWotlet us see your setup and driving style. We are all very curious
Maybe just a little too big of a dinner the night before the last race, ruined the power to weight ratio. JK.
Car's looking so great. Keep balancing the fun and the push.
