i've read some comments here but have not seen a response from someone who actually tried it. Let me just begin by ranting: I am a south east asian and i enjoy the numerous tasty dishes my home region has produced. replicating these in other parts of the world where i've lived the past ten years for work may not be as simple or as taken for granted as it would be in malaysia, indonesia or singapore. In fact, i know that even when i lived in India, i found it difficult to obtain malay herbs and spices for dishes i wished to share with my foreign friends. so when someone, Jakie M in this case, shares a recipe where the end product closely resembles the actual dish, i will take it for what its worth and run with it. I have not tried this dish and so i can't comment on how close it comes to for the puritans out there, but please refrain from being internet warriors and proclaim that this is wrong. If you're so inclined, post a video response or a link to a better alternative for people living abroad. I strongly believe that such videos are meant for those living abroad in cities where such things are not 5 minutes away on foot or even remotely possible to replicate given the options in our local supermarkets.

Err, this is almost Curry mee in Penang , without the pink flowerAs, Its NOT LAKSA
To my knowledge , laksa is a fish based soup with sour taste because of lemongrass & assam & thick white noodles + pineapple + union garnishing😔

Im guess ur referring to laksa penang. Which is using fish based soup. The one that she is making ia laksa nyonya or a bit similiar to laksa sarawak. There are few types of laksa actualy.

i dont mean to be rude but everyone is using the word nyonya to describe their dish and did a short cut to it. the nyonya women have created their dish and perfected it for centuries and here we have someone fucking it up in just 15 minutes. why can't you just call it your version of laksa. for fuck sake.

Malaysia don't have this dish called laksa. Only Penang laksa comes much later after the Spore laksa was made famous around 1960s,1970, till the 1980s in Katong & Joo Chiat area. The word laksa came from Spore not Malaysia. Malaysia called it curry noodle or Mee but version of the taste is totally different. The presenter & the cook should have research the history of this dish. Just imagine how well is this dish they have cook ed if they doesn't know the back ground of it. Honestly, I don,t know what are they cooking by dumping everything in the cook!ing pan. But I can determine by the texture of the laksa soup is not up to standard. Both of them can Balik tidur with the ular. The blind leads the blind! Wasting people's time!
