Got it: Start disconnecting Smart TVs from WiFi.
I did this last year. Was having slowdowns and random issues. Factory reset it and didn’t connect it to my home network. It actually works better now than it did 6 years ago when I bought it.
I never have connected lol. I use the apps on the consoles
Funny, when setting up mine, I had trouble connecting to the internet so I never did.
Smart TVs have always been a scam. Sucks that casuals perpetuated this nonsense
Yup, I'm disconnecting my tv from wifi too. This is fucking stupid lol
Roku: "how can we destroy our company in one fell swoop?"
The problem here is, now the other TV makers could be looking into doing the same thing.
Well, their TVs will be cheaper, so they will sell no matter what.
And two weeks or so ago, they pushed forced arbitration without the ability to opt out, or you couldn't use your tv. Basically they cannot be held accountable to class action lawsuits.
We are starting to be informed enough as consumers to be able to stop this shit.
Hold the line.
I keep my smart tvs disconnected. I use the Xbox and playstation for all my streaming

When I think of a cloud based future with no physical games, it makes me glad there is already enough fantastic games out for me play for the rest of my life.
I actually cant wait because when all their systems gets hacked and everyone loses all their games and their companies lose billions in lawsuits they will go “maybe we should’ve just kept physical as an option”. Its gonna be hilarious

People tell the AI what to look for for age in a photograph, and those things develop at different rates. Also, makeup exists. It's very easy to age yourself up or down.
Roku saw Idiocracy and thought it was a guide.
So the ESRB is concerned about whos playing the games but not how much people are spending on said games
Sports games are literally casinos and they do nothing about it
Not to mention fighting games are reverting to how they were in the arcades, nickel and diming you as much as they do.
Why are you so uptight about this? I am invested in EA. EA still pays me yearly dividends. If you were like me and benefitting financially, you wouldn’t be crying about “sports games are literally casinos”..

Trust me when I say the ESRB could care less about the age of the consumer buying the product. They really just want the excuse to be able to collect biometric data and sell it to the highest bidder.
Aren't cellphone manufacturers already doing that?

People forget that the ESRB was created by the game publishers themselves so they can avoid government regulation as much as possible. They only really exist to help the publishers and is why they continue to fail the consumer
Well they actually wanted to give pokemon games a adults only rating in europe, which definitely wouldnt have helped those games. Thats also the reason that heart gold and soul silver were changed. So they wouldnt be adults only games like they originally were.
@D3sdinova PEGI (the European rating system) is not the same as ESRB and are founded by 2 different organizations. What PEGI decides to rate a game in Europe is independent from what the ESRB decides to rate the game in America
@@D3sdinova ESRB is North American, it has nothing to do with Europe.
Every continent (some times it's by country) has their own rating board that will rate games according to each region's cultures and sensibilities.
Some times there's even different rating boards for console games and PC games, like Japan, which is why in Japan you can't show female nipples in console games (skimpy swimsuits are fine though) but PC games can have porn games (with the "fun areas" being censored).

@@Moo-mans-gameplays huh.. okay. I thought it was offline a long time ago. I only used the eshop online there. I even played the Wii more online (about 2 times lagging brawl xD). But now that most games are on the Switch that is a much better console with much better controllers and a fraction of the power consumption I assumed everyone already switched.
Same with 3ds
The problem is no matter what type of hardware comes out designers just keep saying “We have more GPU power to work worth, let’s ramp it up the absolute limit even if that means only 30 fps.” And that happens literally every console generation. Some PS4 games still look good. I would rather scale back the fidelity a bit and have a smooth 60 fps experience that doesn’t make it feel like I’m having a stroke in game.
Suddenly I have a strong desire to replace my TV with a PC monitor.
You should do that anyway for gaming
My tv is my monitor 😅
You can buy a TV display only like they have in the mall and other companies use them in their stores but they are more expensive. But you can still buy a regular TV and just don't hook it to the internet and it is basically just a monitor. But my understanding monitors are better than TVs for gaming but I like a large display.
@davidframe1613 can I get that again but in English plz
@@davidframe1613 Indeed. Besides, most monitors are a terrible match for consoles from nearly all aspects anyway. Cost more, have worse resolution, area and PQ for the price, lesser or no image processing, usually no remote, so settings in awkwardly placed buttons, for using a painfully cumbersome menu system, terrible audio if any at all.
Not saying there are no plus points. But just not plugging in a cable seem a pretty good optional solution. :)

It feels like companies are dragging me to the pc shop.
60-120fps while it is a must for shooters, competitive fighting games, And even some racing games. I do agree in more story focused games 30fps is plenty fine. Visually as long as your TV can match it most won't really see a difference sitting on a couch. But 60fps and higher in a mostly story based game makes animations feel super smooth and kinda uncanny in some instances. I do think it's sill to not have the option though. There are a decent amount of games you can swap settings like you can on pc console players should be allowed to have those choices too. I like the way the spiderman games handle it.
I get that they feel like they're protecting players from themselves, but it would be nice if PC performance settings were available on console games, maybe hidden behind a "are you extra super sure you want to do this? By clicking yes you hereby promise not to complain on the internet about the results" menu
@@ScubaSnacks there's a few games that expose full graphical menus but you can probably count them on your fingers.

Playing god of war at 4K 120fps is fucking wild. Personally idk how companies don’t want to shoot for 60 from the start.
@Brandon-bs5rg there is a difference between wanting something and knowing to do so you have to purposely sacrifice stuff it isn't 30 cause they want it to be it's because in a story focused animation heavy game with little focus on timeliness it's better to get a stable lower fps then to get a higher fps with limited Fidelty cutting on the visuals of the story.
@@ScubaSnacks yeah I like the way it does in spiderman it work great. But I always prefer a story game to look like the way it was made to vs higher fps in games that time matters I do think it needs to be an option and they need to trust that we know when to make that distinction on our own

Thanks for the news Jon, and I hope everyone has a great weekend!
The 30 fps argument isn't about if the game is good enough, it's if the game is built around it, and how that limitation might improve or detract from gameplay. For instance on of the most frustrating things about Rebirth's quality mode was that I could perfect block just fine, but the occasional perfect dodges were near impossible to hit, I felt like I had to roll earlier to not get hit but then it's too early to count. Turn on performance mode and suddenly I'm hitting perfect dodges back to back. And the real smoking gun, that several mini games were obviously designed for 60 fps, the rhythm games and the shooting gallery especially.
And importantly, it's not just an animation or physics timing issue. The fact of the matter is even if the game is built around 30 fps, the loss of frames means they can't design interactions with tougher timing. I actually think that it's possible that Hellblades more methodical combat could be barely impacted by the 30 fps compared to say Bloodborne, which is totally playable at 30 fps, designed around it, but still results in feeling sluggish in some interaction, but it's still a weird thing to frame as a positive especially when the PC version will have those graphical settings anyway and likely still benefit from 60 fps.
Roku's tvs are kinda popular here in Brazil bc they are cheap and comes packed with lots of free streaming channels

The sad thing with age rating is that more and more parents are not restricting their kids. I worked as a recess aid in an elementary school for a year and it would shock you how many kindergarten kids would come and ask if I had seen Deadpool 2 yet, because they loved it. Many of them were watching rated R movies and they are only 5 years old

Man Splinter Cell on the GC was legit awesome. Give me something Ubisoft.
IMO its fine to play at 30, but 60 should have been an option. Most people have an lcd screen which brings way more blurring than CRT or Plasma screens, and a higher refresh rate makes 30 look far blurrier than a 60hz screen at 30. Thankfully oled is bringing us much closer to the performance of past screens but the majority still use lcd so no wonder they think 30 is unplayable.
Digital Foundry did two comparison videos for the Steam Deck and Switch comparing their two screen variants, LCD for sure worsens a gamers visual experience.
I would be contacting Roku because I would be saying it only paused because I went to the menu to switch items out your interrupting my game
the only exclusively-30fps game I've been motivated to play in the past couple years was TOTK. I didn't used to care but after we started this gen with so many cross-gen games at 60, it's hard to go back.
Gears needs to go dark again for it to reach it's original heights. Not this pg disney dark they've been rocking since 4.The fight against the hopelessness of the situation is what made 2 the best gears of war which carried on onto 3 but was lost in 4.
You mean w0ke. They need to get rid of the girl boss and go back to manly men because that's what's normal. Is there a point to shoehorn a women as the lead for a series that mainly appeals to males other than trying to generate as much ESG money as M$ can? No.

Don’t connect your TVs to the internet. Nothing good can come from it.
And why provide free R&D data for these greedy f***s
On the Wii you can adjust how far away you are from the sensor bar to get better reading. The Wii Motion Plus is way better on motion control than the JoyCon are.
Cloud Gaming won't work in USA until they fix speed and latency.
Why is 60 fps still an issue with these systems? I thought this generation was advertising 8k?
Still wating for games t come out that look like that matrix demo thing haha
Huh... I don't know - an IR sensor in the dock might not be a bad idea. The JoyCons are pretty accurate with their integrated gyro sensors but still drift after some time requiring a manual re-center. Having a fixed IR point in the room might solve that. I think the gyro is accurate enough that a recalibration is only occasionally necessary when the pointer just happens to see the dock. Doesn't need to be dead center in front of the TV. Just maybe not behind the player.
If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.
No comment section clout in that.
Absolutely, but don’t expect change if casuals are buying it in drones
Man I miss the days where Frames per second and HD resolution wasn’t even in the conversations. We just played the games because we liked them!
I completely agree, but the console manufacturers have made it about resolution and FPS, they even put it on the boxes.
They always were a topic. You are just a poor ass Xbox gamer and can't afford a Ps5 or pc to get 60fps and proper input response times 😂
yay! News Wave!!!
Roku is going that Unity route, huh?
Also I wish we could get to a reality where advertising was not in literally everything.
Hell blade 2 looks incredible
Kind of sick of the whole uproar over 30fps. Who. Tf. Cares. As long as it's consistent enough to not impact gameplay, then it's fine. Higher framerates are nice, but not required for most games. A 30fps limit does not make a game unplayable.
I think it depends on the frame pacing and also on motion blur. There are games where 30 fps look absolutely atrocious and then there are games where I couldn't care less. At the end of the day, the developers are responsible for a clear and smooth picture. The difference in quality often depends on the used engine and a lot of other factors.
I grew up with my Xbox 360 and 30 fps were standard then. But I must say that often, 30 fps look worse in modern games, even when the frame rate is completely consistent. In the Xbox360 and PS4 era, it was often all over the place... but it didn't feel as bad as with a lot of modern titles. I recently actually checked it again to confirm that it has nothing to do with pure nostalgia. I wonder... why is that?
@@VieleSpiele4Fun I grew up in an arrow where 30 FPS was the standard. My switch runs most games at 30 FPS so I have no problem with that just as long as the frame pasting and the actual game runs smoothly that’s all I care about.
First time in Florida, me, then 35 with full beard and clear white hair patches, was asked an ID when I ordered a cocktail in the beach. I get if US people are very worried about age restrictions, but the problem is these vigilance tech and policies are later enforced elsewhere because of the globalized market. Sometimes I feel us non US and non-japanese gamers have yo put up with unreasonable conditions because of those regional legislations.
Ehh, it’s not really the people in the US, but rather the laws surrounding those age restrictions. You got carded, especially in Florida, due to how the law is written. Not cause the server was concerned about your age.
"I think Roku making TVs is somewhat recent."
I've had a Roku TV for almost a decade now.
I hope they make the splinter cell remake for the original fans because i honestly think it won't be as good if the game has a mark & execute feature.Having the option to not include it on missions won't work either because it won't feel right if a level is built for M&E but you've just chosen the option to unnaturally remove it.Accept that it's going to be a more hardcore experience for the fans meant for stealth lovers.M&E cheapened the experience in conviction & Blacklist so i see no reason why it wouldn't cheapen it with this remake. The core fans are the only ones who are asking for this anyway no point in trying to make this more friendly to the people who aren't interested in buying your game anyway.
30fps is fine for these type of slow third-person narrative oriented games. What’s annoying is ninja theory trying to make an excuse as to why the game is running at 30fps, just say you can’t get the game to reach 60. That would be fine.
Yes gone are the days where developers are allowed to make the games they want to make
@@RubyRose23328 stop making excuses xbox fanboy. It has nothing to do with what they want to make. Why else isn't the game 30 fps on pc? It is a BS excuse. Same with Starfield. They had the same excuse. No they knew series X could not run it at a stable 60 fps so it was locked at 30 fps

A year and a half ago I did research on TVs.. many people complained that the hardware itself on the Smart TVs would short out and actually freeze and kill the TV... So for my house though I technically have a Roku TV I have my own 4K Roku stick that I use for the internet instead. I will never connect my main TV to the internet because of glitches and now such stuff like this! I can't believe I was ahead of their tatics 😂😅
Turn off your tv’s wifi and connect a device like apple tv. Problem solved.
Nobody has apple tv let's be real

Anyone still saying there’s little difference between 30fps and 60-120/144 has not experienced it. It’s night and day
I use all of the above screen daily, and I barely notice any difference unless I stare at it without blinking.
There's a difference but only if you're looking for it, been playing games since the 80's things aren't much different now than back then, sure games look better but they don't always play better no matter the fps.
30 fps for a story based 3rd person game who cares....
A lot of people who can't tell are probably just old
Between my PS5, Switch, and PC, I use all and it's not night and day. 60fps is obviously smoother than 30 and it is noticeable, but not a night and day difference. And I literally cannot notice a difference between 60fps and 144fps. 60fps feels unnatural in many games anyway, so I actually prefer 30fps sometimes. The only time I prefer 60fps is fast-paced ARPGs. But 30fps is perfecfly fine for me and I will certainly not lose RT and get a vaseline image just for 60fps.
Im so confused, it seems like Megaman has been stuck on 2D for life. I would love to see a more modern day version in third person or even 1st person similar to Metroid
Megaman Legends needs a remake
30 fps is fine, so long as it's locked with a static frame pacing. 60 is nice but it completely depends upon the game as to if you need it or not.
I played Ocarina of Time back in the day at 17 fps (PAL), so I don't want hear anything about 30 being the worst thing in the world.
If the game is fun and plays well, whats the problem?
If you want high fidelity graphics and 60+ fps get a PC but even then expect to pay for it, consoles will always have a trade off with their fixed hardware.
Those people want to justify the money they spent in hardware to match or even go greater the graphical quality of their games. You can't satisfy them at all. 4k 30, bad frame rates. 1080/1440 60 fps, ugly graphics.
@@carleffique2687 true, others just want to crap on everything
FF 16 would drop to 720p to maintain a high frame rate during battle nobody lost their mind but Microsoft has a 1080p dashboard everyone screaming from the roof top.......xbox tax
It would drop to single digit frames as well
Performance was a big talking point with that game.
Series X is the most powerful console. It's should set the standard, and it doesn't... it's an on paper console. Nothing more.
Also, the Xbox tax comments bs makes you all sound like delusional flat earthers.
Literally waiting for the PC of 16 due to the poor performance on PS5
Luckily there's no reason to connect your TV itself to the internet as long as you've got something like a FireStick.
