What do you think of the Perseus?
Great review. Just some small feedback, I feel like a small blurb comparing it to its predecessor might be really helpful as I'm assuming the group most interested in this paddle are Hyperion users.
Thanks so much Ryan. We will be absolutely increasing the quality and thoroughness of all of our reviews as we keep moving forward!!
I would be interested in the same since I currently use the Hyperion.
really good review. lots of opportunities to do some good stuff with reviews. Paddles are the big market, maybe down the road, and review shoes for pickelball. I really liked your methods of review.
Thanks Dave!
Very helpful review. Thanks for all you do re all things pickleball!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks !
Thanks for the review. Fun watching you on Tuesday night pickleball @ the Orchard, Caden.
Thanks Nathan !
Could you share some information on why you didn’t like the CRBN 3X? Just curious due to I was contemplating buying one. Great review of these paddles, solid content.
I only hit it a few times, I may have to do a full review
Thank you for giving advice in regard to paddle Joola Purseus.
You bet!
$250 and with the other paddles out there not much a reason to change. Currently using a SixZero and loving it, and will be trying the Ronbus R1 Pulsar as well. I will give it a go when the chance comes for us mere mortals :) when one is offered up. Thanks for the review, seems to be the PB buzz video top of the charts today.
Np
Ronbus pulsar 3 would be good comparison if you haven’t reviewed it. No delam or crushing issues. Soft but yet powerful. Love to see if y’all liked that as much as the rest of us using do. Just bought the Perseus to give it a test to do the same. My gut says I’ll stick with ronbus which I like a lot better than Vatic or DBD.
Using the Six Zero Sapphire, not even the Black Diamond and it's the best paddle I've used. The spin is unreal.
Do you like this 16mm, the halo control, or the invikta power air the most??
Two totally different paddles. Power air is great for spin and power, hard to control.
Jordan does this coupon code work for the Joola Scorpeus paddle as well?
Yes. Only on
Pickleballcabana.com
Joola Perseus 16 or Selkirk Halo 16 Max? Which one would you suggest. I'm currently playing with a Halo 13 max & would like to switch to a control paddle.
Considering price, the Halo.
But check out our top 5 paddles of the year video for our recommendations!
Would like to see a review of the Engage Pursuit Ultra. Thanks!
We’ll add that to the list
@Briones Pickleball Jordan, any chance I can purchase the prototype from you? Or know someone who will sell it?
No, and I’m sure no one would sell it. Lol
Did you guys use Sportmaster for your court installation? If so, how easy was it?
No. Used a local company.
@@BrionesPickleball Thanks!
Have you tried the Six Zero double black diamond 14mm & 16mm paddle?
I will soon…
@@BrionesPickleball if you haven’t tried the Six Zero, why did you pick the Perseus as Paddle of the Year?
I didn’t. I thumbnailed the video, “paddle of the year”?
Thanks for the excellent review. But for the sake of honesty and transparency, it would be helpful if you disclosed upfront whether or not you are receiving money from the paddle company for referrals or in other ways, since obviously that could affect your review.
Thanks
How does this model feel compared to the one they are selling to the public? (With the logo and signature on the face)
It’s the same exact paddle. With testing both, there’s really no difference. Except I like the sleeker look before the official launch. Lol
@@BrionesPickleball would love to get the plain model. Looks so much better! Keep up the great content!
How can I get my hands on the prototype of the Perseus?
You probably can’t get one. Lol
Can we see a review of the Electrum Model E Elite?
Thanks for the suggestion!
Great review!
Thanks!
Jordan, great work as usual 👏. Borski Nation Unite! Next Headline.... Briones Pickleball Joins Team Joola 👀
Thanks !
I’d like some honest thoughts on this paddle from a woman. I put one of these paddles in my hand and couldn’t believe the circumference of the handle. It felt huge! I’ve never had an issue with the size of a handle in any other brand so the size of this handle surprised me.
Yes, grip can be a factor. If so, I’d recommend the 14mm. Although this grip size is not much different than all the other paddles on the market today.
@@BrionesPickleball not “much” different kind of confirms that it IS different and bigger than other paddles on the market.
When is the Project 005 coming out?
Not sure, but I’ll be doing a review soon!
Thanks! Six Zero please? 👍❤️
👍🏻
Good job on the review. Seemed honest. Ordered mine at midnight, because why not? 30 day test drive right? I know that some commenters will say to get a cheap lifestyle brand paddle (vatic, six-zero, etc.) because the performance is similar for far less $$. Well, I have two de-laminated Vatics and we have 9 or 10 others that are bad in my play group. Four bad CRBNx's. It is 100% failure rate and some were bought in the last month. It is not fixed. Very shameful to use customers as reliability testers. So for me, if it's $250 and it lasts, then it's worth it. We don't know that yet, but we'll see. Grit is known to not last long on the hyperion, so this would be a concern as well. Joola claims the perseus has longer lasting grit. Dunno. Played with your dad the other day BTW. Gearbox CX-11? Really? Gotta get him one of your second-hand paddles after your review is done :)
Haha tell me about it
Update on the Perseus? How do you like it? Still holding up?
@@yummylunch94 Yes. Still okay. No symptoms. I've now had a DBD go bad. It lasted about a week. Also a ronbus pulsar. I dissected them and they all have buckled cores...same as the vatic.
Yes, no issues with the Perseus
Please confirm your grip sizes. I think it’s backwards
Thanks
I dont think ur average pickleball player will like this paddle. That being said... U need to have really good and precise consistant strokes or else ur not going to like. If u have the skills and level to match this paddle, u will love it for its consistancy, control, directness placement and obedience where it will do what what ever u want. I love how they have made this paddle lower power but gave it ultimate feel and control. Most average players will find this paddle unforgiving. To me I love it because of the control feel and placement. Power I can generate as I come from hard hitting tennis.
This is why we made this list!
czcams.com/video/W5oBTmtZYKs/video.htmlsi=923wYH-yiHZlf7_H
if Ben Johns is using this paddle, I am pretty sure it isn't a dud...250 for paddles is getting a bit out of hand though and that seems to be a starting point for many models...i know the market is scooping this up but does the hype equal the performance????...I play softball too and we see this all the time with bats....as long as people keep buying the makers will keep the prices up there
True, prices are rising. Everyone commenting on here is saying that they’re so many better paddles out there. This paddle is a great paddle. So are the Vatic and Legacy, I’ve hit with them both.
@@BrionesPickleball i have the CRBN 1X and switched to the 6.0 Double Black Diamond and love it...got it for 150 with codes....all the top paddles are good and it's just a personal preference for all players...I have the Selkirk Vanguard 16mm but it felt too "soft" for me...I like that "click" when i hit the ball and the 14mm does it for me
It would be helpful to know when these paddles will ship. The company you recommended is ghosting me.
Just talked to owner 2 minutes ago, they shipped all paddles orders today.

@@BrionesPickleball I finally heard from them. Very gracious and let me know it should be here next week.
Just ordered 2 at 10% off thanks Jordan!!
Np !
You know you love it
It’s a good paddle
Great paddle if you are looking for a more expensive Legacy with less spin.
Definitely an opinion if you haven’t hit both. Perseus definitely has a more solid feel and a bit more touch. They actually feel quite different but they are similar.
@@BrionesPickleball That’s true but the spin test from Pickleball Studio has the Perseus at 1700 while the Legacy at 1900+ and the Ronbus 3x Pulsar at 2000+ as well as the Six double diamond. The Ronbus has the same dimensions as Perseus but much more spin but less pop. Perseus is just another good thermoformed paddle with way to high price tag due to the name attached to it. It does have a much lower swing weight for an elongated paddle which can be a real asset for hand battles at the NVZ.
Not sure how accurate spin tests are yet, but every time you have a harder paddle, you’ll have more power. The 6.0 is way too poppy for me, so I think this one is pretty well balanced between power and control. Like I said the stability of this paddle is a lot different than the legacy and 6.0. It just feels different, hard to explain.
@Briones Pickleball Hi, I currently have a hyperion that doesn't have enough pop for me. Otherwise great paddle, any suggestions of what I would like?
@@godgunsandgoldens In real world settings you will almost never ever hit at those spin numbers. You simply don't have time to be able to crank the ball that high except for sitters on the baseline. I think people completely overrate the theoretical spin numbers all the time. What's more important is really the pop, and the feel of the paddle for most people. I own nearly every thermoform right now, and can tell you that in real world play, the spin difference is extremely marginal.
Good review, but Jordan feels uncomfortable to mention that Perseus is overpriced. His friend Ben Johns wouldn’t appreciate it. Two excellent Legacy I purchased in February for $135 each.
Good for you. Legacy is a good paddle as well, but it delaminates.
Hey Brian,
Loved your videos man, you're doing a great job. I'm wondering if you need a video editor?
Offer: I'll edit your 3 shorts for free, then you decide if you want to have me work for you full time.

Hey, I've filled the form and submitted. Waiting for your kind response!
A rebranded legacy pro with an upcharge? Pass
Definitely different from the legacy. More of a solid feel, and softer. Legacy may have a bit more power and spin.
hold up, Selkirk's okay with you doing this?
Selkirk is still number 1 for us baby! 😊
I still currently use the SLK halo 16mm MAX .
The discount code doesn’t work
Just checked, it works go to the checkout page and use code BRIONES10
Coupon code inop
It only works on pickleballcabana.com
Six zero
Seven one
Don't have to is a way of making more $$$ is not going to improve your game or mine Briones but if enough people buy it you will get your 10 % in your pocket.
Not sure what this comment even means.
Probably a good paddle, but definitely way overpriced. Joola is selling on brand and name recognition not actual paddle quality. Im going with the r1 pulsar
Everyone has a choice!
don't buy this paddle very expensive let Ben Johns played with it ....there is lots of better paddles for a lot less money....such as Vatic, Double Black Diamond , Ronbus , Legacy... no comparison either with the Halo and other Selkirt paddles
Lol. Have you even tried it ?
250 no thanks
Lol
