Clicked on this because I thought it was cornhole studio. My b.
So to estimate swing weight (moment of inertia) on the cheap, I think one can do this: balance paddle on an edge perpendicular to the handle axis (edge ruler or 3/8 dowel rod or similar). Once you have found this balance point, measure the distance (in units of cm) from the balance point to the bottom/end of the handle and then subtract 5 cm (to get in the proximity of the center of the handle when holding in hand). Square this measurement. Finally, multiply by paddle mass in units of kg (if you use a kitchen scale with 0.1 or 0.01 gram resolution, measure in grams and then divide by 1000 to get to kg). So, for example on one of my paddles (weighted hyperion), I get (25 cm - 5 cm)^2 * 0.247 = 98.8 (kg*cm^2).
You did a superb job on all of your videos. They are abundantly helpful. Something to consider. Watch the video of driving using the Scorpeus vs the Anna paddle. You were so excited to hit with the Anna paddle you correted your hitting mechanics before making ball contact with the Anna paddle. You bent your kees more and placed more weight on your right foot which is why the ball went over the net. But with the Scorpeus paddle you were tall, stiff, and did not bend or shift your weight as much.
Really excited about this paddle as I had tried the og standard shape paddle but it was too heavy for my shoulder and lacked drive. Looks like the 14 may fix that for me!
Oh, and awesome vid! Love the format! Love the original format too, but this is a fun change up.
awesome review thanks so much
I never thought Iâd go back to a 16x8 paddle, but I think im going to have to at least demo these now!
Briones popping off 11:08 ! Solid video Pbstudio đ
good catch!
Really great video.!!! Very informative.
another great video, very informative, super cool edits--Thanks.
Fantastic video!
Loved the Thrill adding his comments as well.
I got to hit with the Perseus, but I'm a 3.5 at best, and it was pretty good - felt a bit more poppy than my Hyperion Swift - which I think has the same swing weight. I'm going to see if my guy has the Scorpeaus - dumb name though.
Dude! Videos are gettin' reallll good. Love it. đ
3:19 god damnit when you and Will play together đ
Dope video, Wrinks
Clean video! Looking forward to seeing a review on the slk halo Parris Todd but I guess there wouldnât be any difference between that and the original halo
The ALW clip đđđ„đ„đ„đ„
great review and thoughts on the paddle, quality video and editing đ
Perhaps I missed it in the video, but could you provide any detail about how much weight (lead tape) you found beneficial, where you placed it, etc?
Thanks so much for all these videos. Idk how much time I've spent recently (because I blindly bought and subsequently hated the Perseus) watching paddle talk and learning your stats sheet. It's been SO helpful!
How do these compare to the six zero double black diamond? Do you think they are worth the high price tag?
That waters edit was a crime chris LOL
How do you compare Anna Bright 14mm to DBD 14mm? Do you find the wide shape is harder for newbies to control the angles of the paddle?
How does it compare to a 6.0 DBD 14? I am looking for a new paddle. I currently play with a JOOLA Solaire and want more spin.
THANK YOU. GREAT REVIEW!! - T MO
How do these compare to the 14mm Hyperion heavyweight(not the swift)
Shout out Aizec for the sweet editing in this video! Love the comedy/info throughout
I actually edited this one đ
Heâll be doing most of them moving forward though
@@PickleballStudio ha, well nice work on the edits...great comedic and info blend :)
Which one plays like crbn 2x 16mm? I prefer crbn 1x but it's too heavy so 2x is the next best thing. Tried vatic pro too much pop for me.
Thank you for your time and posting. Hey... Wasn't that Jordan Briones??
Do we know yet how long the grit on the face will last? Or, I should say do we have a theory? Itâs still not Toray CF correct? Will it wear like the Hyperion I had to replace every 3 months? Anybody have more info here?
what was your lead tape set up?
How is the 16 mm comparing with CRBN 2x?
The ALW part... OMFG you SAVAGE
Also, Any chance of a comparison to the CRBN2X? Both new-tech Carbon Fiber standard shapes.
Others have asked the question but I didnât see an answer for any of them. If you could pick one paddle between the 6.0 DBD 14 mm and the Anna Bright 14mm and why? I already have the 14mm DBD and love it. I was contemplating the Anna Bright after your video. Thanks for the input. Love your videos.
Are you still using the DBD 14mm? Have you tried the DBD 16?
@pickleballstudio can you please do a review of the weights on the Perseus versions and Scorpeus versions. I have personally tried them all and the 16 Perseus seems to be the heaviest of them all. The 14 Anna is next in line.
The best paddle of them all is the Colin Johns model. The Perseus weight distribution seems terrible. Iâve sold several of these and so many people canât play with it because of the weight.
There is definitely some issues w this paddle that not a lot of people like it.
The Colin Johns is 100% the lightest paddle and works the best.
How does this compare to the 14mm solaire?
Nice cameo on BnB channel. Kinda tuff hangin' with those guys?
Great content as always. After watching several of these videos on the thermoformed paddles, I have a question. Which thermoformed RCF paddle has the softest touch for dinking or touch? Is if the DBD, CRBN, etc? Iâm interested in a new one but would like something thatâs softer for accuracy/dinking. I am using a CRBN2 right now.
Probably the Scorpeus 16mm
@@PickleballStudio Thanks! I have been considering the DBD but not sure if itâs enough touch. Your paddle spreadsheet is awesome. I think it would be great if you added a column for the feel of the paddles so you could know their touch or softness vs power rating.
Thanks for your excellent review. You mentioned the 14mm is great for drop shots. Do you think adding tape to the bottom corners would help, or do you think the 16mm would be better for drop shots? Which do you think is the better one for dinking? Thank you!!
16mm would be better for drops. Lead tape on the corners of the 14mm would help though
In the video he says the 14mm is great for drives but not for drops.
Shirt as smooth as the video đ€đ€
New style for reviews are so good. Really outdid yoursef.
Thanks!
Let me edit the title for you Chris: âThis will be expensive.â
I actually didnât know about this paddle and thought it was a joke video making fun of the Perseus.
Anyway Iâm intrigued by Wills comments and think maybe I need the 14mm now instead of playing to my strengths with the 16mm
Anna Bright Scorpeus đ„đ„đ„
would you still recommend this paddle over some of the newer offerings hitting the market? (mach 2 Forza, HPC sword and shield J3)? really considering this paddle but the price is holding me back.
That place has two pickleball courts in their backyard, plus a man cave/dog house just off the side of it. How cool is that?
Thx for the review guys! Will either of yâall be reviewing the Vatic Pro Alchemy paddle?
I wonât have one for a bit, but I will probably review it
@@PickleballStudio awesome. Mine keeps getting delayed but Daryl sent out an email stating that they are changing some materials on it for better quality so đ€
Two questions: How about spin? How does this compare to the Power Air (Epic or S2)? Really psyched to hear about new-gen standard paddles. At 6'5" I need the larger sweetspot more than the reach. Keep up the great work.
I came to ask the same question!
1780 for both. Basically comparable with the Power Air.
I love my power airâŠwouldnt change a thing!
Chris you gotta name that trickshot immediately...the Robin? lol
The filth is what Will and I call it haha
Sad that the handle is longer than advertised. Really wanting a 16x8 shape with 5-inch handle on a thermoformed paddle!
Just checked this out at store and Scorpeus handle definitely shorter than Perseus so 5.25 inch probably accurate.
Chris I love your videos and that hat. What kind is it?
Between the Scorpeus and the Selkirk Halo series, do I pay more for less warranty on the Joola, or is the Halo still a recommended all-arounder?
Would love an answer to this. Iâm currently using the Selkirk Halo Power XL and am considering swapping to the Collin Johns paddle.
Hey Chris! Super quick question I probably already know the answer to. You and Will both said that this paddle reminds you a bit of the 003. Would you say this or the 003 epic is better for doubles and why? Thanks so much and keep up the great work!
They would just be different. I might give a slight edge to the Scorpeus for the better sweet spot.
When you ironed the shirt did the arms shrink?
Can you do a video review on approved pickleball BALLS? Value vs longevity?
How do you think it compares to a Flash 14?
What's the word on spin rate?
Completely random but Iâd love an overview of speed cubes if you are still in that world
OK, so how does the Scorpeus compare to the Solaire which, I assume, it was created to replace?
Hey Pickleball Studio, great content! Ive been following you for a while and theres something Id like to ask. I see you have a 3rd camera man holding 2nd camera and filming you personally, do you mind sharing specs on this? I am looking to push pickleball forward in Finland and Im working on improving my gear so any help on this is greatly appreciated! Looking to do two camera setup, I already got the ZV1 but I think I need a wider lens back up and ease on dual filming.
That camera is a Canon R5 with a Sigma 18-35mm on a Ronin RS3 Pro
Get a Legacy Pro, cost effective, high quality.
Think my wife would do really well with this. But $250... I've always wondered why none of the other thermoform paddle companies (Vatic, SixZero, etc) have come out w/standard size paddles. Always just elongated or hybrid.
Legacy has the Pro S with standard size
@@bc2049 Oh nice, haven't paid attention to Legacy in awhile. Looks like Zane Navratil's ProXR model also just came out w/a standard size as well.
We need more Jordan.
What camera do you use on court and at your computer?
Canon R5 for the moving shots. FX30 for static.
In the studio I use FX30 or R5.
Bro those sunglasses be making Chris look like Mike Teevee
5:14
Will gonna stretch Chris's shirt out with them guns!
How did you measure swing weight??
Briffidi SW1
Idk why. Maybe itâs just me. But the 16 by 8 standard shape of the Scorpeus makes the design on the face much easier on my eyes compared to the elongated shape of the Perseus.
Are those sports glasses? If so, can I get the link for it :)
Oakley Holbrook! Iâve been using them to play in lately. Used them at the Texas Open
Maybe not the best comparison, but how would this compare to the Electrum Pro II?
Eons better lol.
Only thing Pro II probably does better is hit harder.
But itâs heavy, clunky, and bad sweet spot.
@@PickleballStudio How about vs the Model E Elite?
Iâve been playing pickleball for three years. Playing 4.0-4.5 level. I think the paddle is okay. My existing paddle has been a Paddletek Tempest Wave Pro. People say it has dead spots but I hold my own against players with the âbetter
ewâ paddles. I will be returning this paddle. Not worth $250 imo.
Can you get these paddles without players signatures ?
You canât
Would you choose this or the Ronbus R1 Pulsar? Thatâs a big price tag. Thanks in advance?
For me personally, probably the R1 Pulsar.
@@PickleballStudio Thanks for the response!
@@PickleballStudio Got the R1 Pulsar and itâs fantastic! đ€© Went from the Pursuit 6.0. Has all the good qualities of the pursuit with better stability, way better spin, and a much lighter head.
Why does the quality look so crispy ;new camera?
Haha nah, same camera as usual
Iâm playing with the legacy roo which I love but want something with a little more control . Which Joola do you think is a better option scorpions or Perseus
W Video
Shout out to @Jordan Briones.
In tennis, you string a racquet for power if you need more power, not because you already hit with power. You string for control if you naturally hit for power and can need some help with finesse. Not so with Pickleball? IOW you suggest going with the 14mm (Annaâs) because it's a power paddle and you like to hit with power or 16mm (Collinâs) because it's more control and you're a defensive player.
Why not go with a paddle that shores up weaker parts of your game vs reinforces your strength?
It depends entirely on the player. Some choose to reinforce their strength, others opt to aid their weakness. Just personal preference
What's your main paddle at the moment?
SixZero Double Black Diamond
Whoâs the knockoff Tyson McGuffin you were playing against? đ
Nice "Hot Pressed" shirt.
Your shirt isn't delaminated anymore.
I think there were only 3.5 wrinkles at best this time
Like no wrinkle shirt!
TAKE MY MONEY!!!
#nowrinkle đ
Judging by your paddle spinning, I'd guess you used to wait tables or bartend? LOL
Never actually đ
Just checked out at store and Scorpeus handle definitely shorter than Perseus so specs likely accurate.
Yes... and Arnold is "definitely" shorter than Danny De Vito... I have both paddles and the handle length is the same.
Ha ha wrinkle.. wrinkle funny đđ
Nice review but you kept mentioning Collin's paddle. Don't you mean Ben's. Collin plays with an Electrum.
No, Collin switched and this is his signature paddle now
@@PickleballStudio Wow! I thought I followed pickleball pretty closely with the different podcasts and I didn't see any mention of the switch.
same length, but different diameters
#nowrinkle
$250, yikes!
yall getting kickbacks on these reviews? State so if you are.
If you use our code, we get a kickback. Otherwise If you donât, we do not.
@@PickleballStudio Good stuff. I just want a real review without any caveats.
for 250 no thanks
Please remove the music so I can hear the ball striking the paddle both in the sweet spot and off. Thks.
Do not waste your money over prize !!!! they are a lot better paddle for less the price. do not believe everything you hear. Joola and Selkirk have a heavy marketing they have the money to advertise more. These paddles are not going to make you a better player!!!!
I have never been so confused! Youâre constantly posting paddle reviews! Six Zero is the best paddle, then Perseus is the best paddle, now Scorpeus 14MM, or 16MM paddle is the best. What a Confusing MESS! I understand paddles are always changing but you are confusing everybody!!!!!
Lol you didnât watch my Perseus review if you think I said itâs the best paddle. I never said that. Nor did I say that about the Scorpeus.
What lead are you using?? @pickleballstudio
The new JOOLA vs Project 003
itâs so hard to choose one đ„Č
At the end of the day, you need to know how to play.....otherwise forget it...
Exactly! It's not the paddle. It's the player!
