    Episode 10 Notes:
    Story of Zayd Ibn Harith
Zayd ibn Harith was a Yemini who was sold into slavery by his uncles and was bought by Khadijah RA, who later gifted him to Prophet Muhammad SAW as a marriage gift.
Eventually, Zayd’s father found his son and asked to have Prophet SAW give his son back. The Prophet SAW let Zayd chose between SAW and his father. And Zayd chose Muhammad SAW. When Zayd did this, Prophet SAW publicly said Zayd is now a free man and adopted him.
Zayd later became one of the first Muslims and he married Ummi Ayman who was a servant of Aminah. The two of them had a child who was born in the house of the Prophet SAW. Usama was the name of Zayd’s child and he was beloved to Prophet SAW.
Zayd Ibn Harith later died in the Battle of Mut’ah as a martyr.
Zayd Ibn Harith is the only companion mentioned by name in the Qur’an and Abu Bakr is the only one mentioned indirectly.
Some of the Sahabah stated that had Zayd outlived the Prophet SAW. He would have been the first Caliph. He was that beloved.
    The Beginning of the Revelation
    • Before the Qur’anic revelation began, the Prophet SAW would hear the rocks and stones give Salaam to him.
    • Each night the Prophet SAW would have dreams before the revelation began. These dreams showed him the events of the next day. These dreams began from Rabiul Awal - Ramadan, 6 months in total.
    • Once the revelation came down, the Prophet SAW stopped spending time in solitude.
    • The Revelation began in the last 10 days of Ramadan on a Monday.
    • The Prophet SAW was scared after the first verses of Qur’an (Surah Al-Alaq Verses 1-5) were revealed and this made him cold and that’s why he asked Khadijah RA to cover him up.
    • Waraqah ibn Nawfal told Prophet SAW about the persecution, that all of the Prophets go through. Waraqah was one of the earliest reverts to Islam and he died shortly after revelation began. He attained Jannah.
    • After the first revelation, there was nothing more for 40 days. Then one day, when the Prophet SAW was walking, he saw Jibreel AS again. Which frightened the Prophet SAW so he went back to Khadijah RA’s house and the wrapped himself in a garment and THEN Jibreel AS revealed verses 1-7 of Surah Muddaththir. Telling him to preach to the people.
Fun Trivia fact: You can have 3 types of dreams, those From Allah SWT, those From Iblis and those from your own mind. Dreams from Allah SWT will leave you feeling good. Dreams from Iblis will terrify you and will never come true. Dreams from yourself will easily be forgotten.
    ==========================================================
Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series:
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series.
Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it.
You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes.
One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah.
Please keep me in your Duas and ask Allah SWT to forgive all our sins during this blessed month and beyond! Ameen

I'm busy with my exam preparation so I don't watch the series in one go. In a day 15 mins or so and that to while having food. But whatever I listen, Alhamdulillaah I get engrossed in it. Initially, I was reluctant to listen to the Seerah series bcz I wanted to jot down the points. But my cousin, Alhamdulillaah encouraged me to listen to these series while doing simplest of tasks. Alhamdulillaah I started listening when I'm having food and now I listen almost everyday. Alhamdulillaah.

With GREAT difficulty do I have to stop after each video and wait for the next day to start the next one. This is the 10th Video in the Seerah and today is the 10th day of me watching the series of lectures.
And I though series and movies were addictive... I was never more wrong...
We have been sitting on a gold mine and a gold mountain of lectures but a few realize it all. I recently watched a video uploaded by the Shaikh due to the crises in Palestine and Masjid Al Aqsa during the last 10 days of Ramadan (2021), which led me to the famous 1914 lecture by the Shaikh and eventually to this series... What a knowledgeable man with a Gift of tongue.
Masha Allah. A truly gifted speaker!

at 28:35 shiekh had a slip of tongue. He meant to say ''quran was reviled on that day Zayd b. Harithah died and it is still being recited to this day '' Here is the reference: Zayd was a companion of Muhammad who was at one stage regarded as his (adoptive) son. He is the only companion whose name appears in the Qur'an Surah Al-Ahzab verse 37.

    Volume 1, Book 1, Number 3:
    Narrated 'Aisha:
(the mother of the faithful believers) The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's Apostle was in the form of good dreams which came true like bright day light, and then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him. He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food like-wise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, "I do not know how to read.
The Prophet added, "The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, 'I do not know how to read.' Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, 'I do not know how to read (or what shall I read)?' Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, 'Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists) has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous." (96.1, 96.2, 96.3) Then Allah's Apostle returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely. Then he went to Khadija bint Khuwailid and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" They covered him till his fear was over and after that he told her everything that had happened and said, "I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija replied, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your Kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones."
Khadija then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza, who, during the PreIslamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Hebrew letters. He would write from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to Waraqa, "Listen to the story of your nephew, O my cousin!" Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" Allah's Apostle described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same one who keeps the secrets (angel Gabriel) whom Allah had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." Allah's Apostle asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.
Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah Al-Ansari while talking about the period of pause in revelation reporting the speech of the Prophet "While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira' sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him and came back home and said, 'Wrap me (in blankets).' And then Allah revealed the following Holy Verses (of Quran):
'O you (i.e. Muhammad)! wrapped up in garments!' Arise and warn (the people against Allah's Punishment),... up to 'and desert the idols.' (74.1-5) After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly."

The entire vision will be to you like the words of a sealed book, which when they give it to the one who is literate, saying, “Please read this,” he will say, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 Then the book will be given to the one who is illiterate, saying, "Please read this." And he will say, "I cannot read."

Another idea I had about the rasul, salla allahu 'alaihi wassalam being squeezed by Gibreel, 'alaihi salaam, to his utmost endurance, was to perhaps empty his lungs entirely of air so that he would utter the first revelation with a totally new breath.

As salaam alaikum. Could a point be clarified please? Shk Yasir stated that Zayd ibn Harithah married Umm Ayman during the jahili period (time 23:15 onwards). It was also stated that both were slaves and not free people. I was of the understanding that this marriage took place after prophethood, when the Prophet (pbuh) stated that "if one wants to marry a woman of jannah, then marry Umm Ayman". This would also mean that both were muslims. If I am not mistaken, Osama bin Zayd was very young when he was put in charge of an army (16~20 years of age). Calculating 10 years in Medina and 13 years in Mecca, Osama would have been born during the da'awa period of Mecca. Am i mistaken in my understanding?

I have a different question relating the same thing:
Umm Ayman, the servant of Amina, was around 15 years older than Muhammad (saw) and around 20 years older than Zayd. Zayd was bought by Khadija when he was 7-8. If Khadija married the Prophet (saw) at around 28 while the Prophet was around 25, what age did Khadija buy Zayd? Did Khadija have her wealth at such a young age? (radhiyallahu anhuma)

    Assalam-u-Alykum,
Requesting you to clarify why Prophet (PBUH) was terrified, the way he was, at the experience of meeting Jibreel (AS) at the time of receiving first revelation while he wasn't terrified (as you said in the previous Halaqa) when he (SAW) was a 4 year old child, while Jibreel had come to him?
    JazakAllah!

In my opinion, I think when jibreal(A.S) first came to our prophet, he didn’t come with the revelation and only to clean his heart from any kind of impurity and even then our prophet was fainted as far as i remember although he was made forgotten of that event , so eventually the next time our prophet received revelation ( which is the word of Allah and it’s heavy and physically painful) secondly he was mature enough to go through the experience of being terrified. Also was being prepared for what’s to come (I.e: revelation) hope that’d be helpful

Remember Angel Jibreel can change his form, he doesn't have to look the same as he did as back then. Also imagine yourself in a high cave (maybe at night time) and no one knows the location of the cave and suddenly a complete stranger comes at the cave.

28:28 - "Qur'an was revealed for them, which is no longer recited to this day - err, it's not recited, it was revealed at the time."
I don't understand this. Is Y. Qadhi saying that a part of the Qur'an is no longer recited? Has it been removed from the Qur'an?
