"NEARLY PURR-FECT" | A Ghillie Suit Hunt Gone Wild

May 3, 2023 was an awesome morning!
A text book, no blind, ghillie suit, roost hunt that turned a bit "interesting" when it came time for the recovery!
The bow used for this hunt was my Timberghost Traditional Archery, 60", 50@28" TGX recurve. Can't say enough good about this phenomenal bow!

The arrows I used for this hunt where .340 Beman carbon shafts, 8" cap wrap, three 4" feathers....and tipped with a massive 300 grain, Big Jim 3 blade broadhead.

Awesome Hunt !! Congratulations !! Amazing with Traditional Equipment . I had a similar experience once.(Compound bow). I shot a bird a little low, in the thighs, but after the shot, it just dropped on the spot. So I thought I was done. After a few minutes, of taking some hero video, I started to walk up to the bird, then all of a sudden, it took off, like a whirlybird, outta control, and flew about 100 yards over the tree tops, and crashed landed down in a creek bottom. Well it took me 4 more hours, to track it down, Thank-God I spotted it with my Binos, hiding in the leaves, in the creek bottom. Then I snuck into 30 yards, and finished him off with another arrow ! Craziest turkey hunt ever, but I got him ! Can't wait to go tomorrow.

Amazing how much damage they can take before going down. I just had the same thing happen. Clean hit and it just kinda shook it off and kept truckin’. Found it dead next morning.

Incredible hunt! I will definitely use my string tracker next year. I know if used it I would have recovered my bird this year. Guess I’ll kick myself until next year.
