- As we leave Chattanooga and lay the ground work for the Atlanta Campaign, William Sherman takes over in the Western Theater as Ulysses S. Grant is called to the East. To start the campaign, we head to Tunnel Hill, Georgia, to check out one of the true gems of the American Civil War. Join us for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Tunnel Hill which is closed off to the public.
Our own Kris White is joined by Author/Historian and Co-Founder of the American Battlefield Trust, and Dave Thomas of the Tunnel Hill Heritage Center & Museum.

The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.
Dave Thomas is a proper gentleman and a fount of civil war knowledge,. He's also a great leader.

Much love, the Newmans 🍻
Welcome! My dad was with the American Australian Antiaircraft Brigade in New Guinea during WWII.
@@DogTotem Fan-fu******-tastic! What a great story to tell!
Great video. Visited the monument to the General at mile 116.3 today.
Two man hand cranked drill? What a tough gig. What were the drill bits made of?
Will is such a great speaker.
One of my favorite historic stops in northern Georgia.
Great team storytelling guys. That was a fun ride.
I’ve been there really cool.
Great job on the video. Took their time and lots of details. Will Green does a great job in all of his explanations and doesn't rush though the information. Hats off to my Irish kin for the great masonry skills. The tunnel has stood for 160 years. The slaves made the bricks and the Irishman did the work inside the tunnel. Back in the 1970's the tunnel had about 3 feet of water in it and you couldn't walk all the way through unless you wanted to get wet. Great place to visit with tons of history. Great video guys.
Excellent work guys - love your tour videos!
Lesson learned: Don’t mess with Texas! 😉😬 🚂
Sherman takes over the Western Campaign with Grant coming East! the stage begins for GA Atlanta, this is very interesting!
Good work Kris.
Knew very little about this location.
Thanks
Great video.. great job by Kris and all the guests!
The taking of the General and the subsequent chase occurred on April 12, 1862, the first anniversary of the firing on Fort Sumter. Was the date for the locomotive heist chosen for its psychological impact on the South?
Keep the videos coming gentlemen. And people all these views and only one hundred or so thumbs up letttsss goooo!
I bet if you did a really close inspection you could find some of the workers names carved on the walls inside the tunnel.
What a nice video!
