When I was a Child I never got to go to SIX FLAGS.... Instead My Father took me to Old Historical Civil War Battlefields around the Tennessee and Kentucky area.... Like LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN that was preserved Part of the Chattanooga Campaign Union forces under Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker assaulted Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and defeated Confederate forces commanded by Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson.....It was so Wonderful to me as a child to see and physically touch this Cannons and Commemorative Memorabilia from that Era.....That event Instilled a Deep Seated Love for Heritage, History and Remembrance for our Country..... From the Earth Work Scars to the Silent Lonesome Cannon that Bears History of our American Civil War.... I am so Happy to see that people are making an effort to Preserve these Priceless National Monuments for Ours and Future Generations to come.... THANK YOU BATTLEFIELD TRUST....❤️💯❤️💯❤️

I own a Spencer rifle serial 6339. It is a full length not a carbine.

I have a Spencer rifle used by a solider in the 17th. Serial is 6339. It came back as an issued/ bought weapon. Aumiller gun shop in Westerville Ohio came through huge on finding the history. My great grandpa found it in a barn on a property he bought in Ellet Ohio in 1927.
We have a little something in common. My family is from the Johnstown Alexandria area, had relatives in Westerville and points west to Bellefontaine . My mother's folks, the Warrington's, were from the area around Newark. Here is a post I placed at "a Tour of Chickamauga". Hoping maybe to find out more about my Great uncle Eric Warrington and possibly his Ohio Cavalry unit.

Wounded on 19 Sep 1863, died of his wounds in the hospital the following Apr. Not sure how but 'we' ended up with his sidearm, an 1861 Manhattan revolver. (resides in a trophy case now, forever, ser 16522). And his Grandfather fought in the Revolutionary war. (My mom had a letter that he had once saved Gen. Washington's life.)
I cant get to Chattanooga but I'd sure be grateful if anyone could send a digital photo of Eric's Tombstone.
added about that revolver. A "ser nbr search", it was manufactured during the 1st week of Nov 1861. My dad & Grampa used to use it on the farm (near Alexandria to shoot rats in the corncrib. Last time fired - 1933. Still safe but I wont fire it.

My Great-Great-Grandfather was a corporal with Company I of the 98th Illinois Infantry (Mounted) and was wounded in his hand during this battle. Oddly enough, it left a hole in his hand that he could pull a handkerchief through, much to the amazement of my grandfather who was born in 1902, a few years before his grandfather died. I am 70 now...

Its a great place. Got there for the first time in 88 I believe during a break in The filming of " Glory".
My great-grandfather was at Missionary Ridge with the 89th Illinois. It looks like he lost his Enfield Rifle storming that hill at that time, because he was docked for its loss for months after.

On December 26, 2013 I was driving by Chickamauga Battlefield iin my daily comings and going when I saw that the American Battlefield Trust had saved some of the land by the Reed's Bridge site 😀 I took photos from Reed's Bridge Road
It is true that people forget the first day of the battles like Cold Harbor. My 2nd great grandfather was part of the 2nd Conn heavy artillery on day one. He was wounded on June 1st and the sacrifice the 2nd Conn made is often forgotten. But these guys won't forget it
Just saying but I can’t wait to see the video on the area where Longstreets main attack on the last day of the battle of chickamauga takes place and I am saying that because in Longstreets assault column was a brigade of Alabamians under James Sheffield and these are the same Alabamians who assaulted little round top and Devils den on the second day of the battle of Gettysburg and among the regiments was the 15th Alabama infantry regiment which was fighting the 20th Maine on what at the time of the battle was my 4x great grandparents property.
Best experience of being a military officer was doing terrain walks of this battlefield, Perryville then Andersonville.
Andersonville was during OCS.

Wilder and Minty are to Chickamauga what John Buford was to the Union at Gettysburg. They give their army vital information as to the deployment of their enemy.
i am neighbour of the cleburne familys old home in cork county in ireland as you might call it we say county cork that looks beautful place now its peaceful is there good fishing there
I live 3 miles from the Battlefield, and about 3 miles from Missionary Ridge as well...as a Bird flies, that is. Chickamauga is definitely the second highest casualties, with only Gettysburg having more casualties. I've read and seen, from about everywhere, there was between 36,000 casualties, to 46,000 casualties!! Jim, I'd LOVE to hear YOUR personal estimates. I say 41,000.

Not so sure about that. I think a little more attention on Minty might have been warranted or the impact of the Spencer rifles at this bridge but overall I think well done. I think the enthusiasm of the commentators shone through and provided more than enough life to the video.
