  • As we moved into the second day of the Summer Solstice, we had the pleasure of welcoming to the stage our Tabla Collective led by Shri Shahbaz Hussain.
Shahbaz Hussain began playing the Tabla at the age of 5 under the guidance of his father, the late Ustad Mumtaz Hussain. He is known as a promising tabla virtuoso of his generation after receiving numerous accolades for his performances, including receiving the prestigious ‘Son of Lahore’ Award from the Government of Pakistan in 2008.
Summer Solstice 2023 was brought to you with the generous support and collaboration of LEEDS 2023 and Rushbond PLC.

Thank you for your patience and support! We are a small team working hard to bring you the best experience possible.
In this performance, the tabla crew played Teentaal, Peshkar, Kaidas, Gats, and Parans. Kirpal Singh Panesar accompanied them with a beautiful Lehra in Raag Shankara.
