Max here. Im so gassed that u made our Dutch soup. Im glad that you both liked it. Been watching u for like a 1.5 years now and never missed a video. Keep up the good stuff.

This recipe is for three people.
Ingredients
250 gr split peas
0.5 leeks
1 liter of water
1 beef stock cubes
125 gr celeriac
0.5 carrots
0.5 potato (250 gr )
0.5 smoked sausage (275 gr)
150 gr shoulder pork chop
0.5 bay leaf
A few sprigs of celery (25 gr)
0.5 onion
Preparation
Bring 2 liters of water to the boil with the stock cubes, split peas and bay leaf. Add the pork shoulder whole. Let it simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, peel the carrot, potato and celeriac and cut into cubes of about 1 cm. Cut the leek into rings and wash well. Peel the onion and cut it into fine pieces. Also coarsely chop the celery.
After about 1 hour of cooking you will notice that the split peas begin to fall apart and a green mass is formed. Some split peas will break sooner or later than others. Stir well a few times to speed this up.
Remove the shoulder chops from the pan, cut into pieces and add to the soup along with the chopped vegetables and potato. Let the soup simmer for about ½ hour until the vegetables and potato are tender and have shrunk a bit. Cut the smoked sausage into slices and stir it into the pea soup during the last few minutes and heat through. Season the pea soup with a little extra salt and pepper, if desired.

I know it doesn't matter since there's a pad between the sleeping bag, but the reflective side is usually the side that points towards you Mav. It's what reflects your body heat back towards you.

Hey Mav, Love your vids. Please be careful with those high carbon Japanese knives in the cold and slapping them down on your cutting board. The steel becomes very brittle at low temperatures, and never use them to cut frozen foods either. Take it from someone who has worked as a line cook for over 3 years and has cracked off a chuck of a 300$ knife.
Use the Mora in these conditions.

Once again you guys learned what it would take to do that again right ! Had Murray not had the heater mishap, and maybe one more big buddy, would have made it pretty nice. I would look into getting a camp stove chimney port made into your awning somewhere too. That would make a huge difference as well. That set up, was Completely Awesome and is completely doable, and comfortably ! Keep On Keeping On !
You can definitely improve on the "deployable ice fishing truck tent" and get it warmer on the inside! Continuing to try and improve the use of this set up is something I hope to see in the future!

I love all your videos !!!!! I lived and worked in Erie, PA right on Lake Erie for 25 years. I always thought people out on the frozen lake fishing in the brutal winters we're crazy. My thoughts were always, the ice could give and they would fall through, never to be seen again. I understand it much better these days thanks to your videos. I would not personally try it, but kudos to those who embrace it !!!!!!

So if you get one of those dual prop heat powered fans for wood stoves, put a notch in back, it will mount on top of the small Buddy heater that doesn't have a built in fan. Total game changer!

These are some super interesting videos, I've never really had interest in normal camping, but I feel like truck camping would be better, I also love the cooking parts in these videos. Most youtube chefs are too advanced for me, but your meals are realistic and interesting.

The Truck tent idea was an interesting idea. You could probably find someone who create an insulated tent wall. Dunno how well it'd work on ice. Ice is something I don't have much experience with.
