- I've made a video of the progress on my Transalp. The intakes need replacement since the rpm's won't instantly go down and the exhaust has awfully loud backfiring. You can also tell by spraying engine start spray on the intakes during idle. If the rpm's go up the intakes need replacement.

@@jankemmerer6669 der Auspuff hat eine E Nummer also eintragungsfrei aber ich habe keine Papiere dazu da die Firma insolvent ist
Hi Pete-I have a 1990 Transalp in the USA. It does backfire here and there but nothing like this. Is the bike not supposed to backfire at all? I really appreciate any advice you can offer. I respect your time Sir.
Hi Andrew, normally it should not backfire at all. My other trans alp backfires from time to time but not so hard as the blue/white one. Changing the valve cover gaskets and intake rubbers will make it a lot better. Regards
@@petesgarage4670 Thank you so much for responding. What is strange Pete is the intake rubbers are in really good shape and it is not leaking from anywhere. The bike runs excellently but I can not figure out why it does backfire at lower speeds of deceleration. I really appreciate your videos on the Transalp. They are very informative. I wish you had more. Thank You Sir.
@@ARoberts0115 as I said inspect your valve cover gaskets. Mostly the one on the rear cylinder breaks and lets air inside which causes backfires. also check your choke cables ( the part attached directly to the carbs ) no air is supposed to get into the system besides the air going through the air filter 😉
@@petesgarage4670 Hi Mr. Pete-I really appreciate your time and respect your experience. I cannot find any breaks or gaps in the valve cover or any flaws where the choke enters the Carburator. Is it ok to drive on long trips if the bike does backfire. It is not very bad right now. I didn't know that is why these bikes backfire. I am not mechanically inclined. I can't replace the valve covers or the intake/choke rubber. Does it damage the bike to ride it when it has a slight backfire? How long do you think before I have to replace intake manifolds? I am grateful for you time Pete. Thank you!
