How can you forget the sandwiches! 😂
Hahaha you try packing at 1 am in a van with just a headlamp. Haha :)
Fair enough 😂
I thought for sure he was going to say he was just joking, but hey that's the way it goes sometimes.
Carrie is a saint for not getting more angry about the sandwiches. 15 miles without any real food 😭
You pronounced Ngauruhoe so well to start with and then kept changing it 😝 so nice to see NZ in your videos and love that you give history and information along the way.
Pronounced as Nara-hoe-e
Pronounced as
Nga (NG, as in, siNGer) u (as in nEW) ru (as in, DO) ho (as in door) e (as in air)
Nga/u/ru/ho/e
Neither of those descriptions of the pronunciation are accurate 😂
You guys are such an inspiration for all the you tubers and thank you for inspiring and also bringing a useful information.
Beautiful journey, well done! The purple flowers everywhere, look like heather.
Thanks for this video! I really enjoyed your facts and the way you captured the beauty of the hike. We were going to do it but my hubby fell sick, maybe next time. Well done for completing it!!
Such a beautiful place to hike...worth it to get sweat
It's really nice to see and hear Americans using the metric system. Unnatural but admirable xD
Hahaha we love the metric system. Makes way more sense
@@vagabrothers Drug dealers can work it out but supposedly the general population can't, I don't comprehend that frankly. More awesome work though.
Wow ... really amazing landscape... thx for sharing this ...
Love this place! Got hung-up on climbing Mount N in 2015, but I'm back for 3 months from tomorrow, so will be adding this full crossing to my bucket list. Great video. Thank You !
Awesome and beautiful! And Carrie is right: always overpack for a hike in the mountains! You never know when you might get stuck for the night because you get lost in the fog or a storm, or break your ankle.
hey, your video is amazing
this is great.
I am saving this!
wow, your channel is great
this is awesome.
I am saving this!
Straight up bucket list!!! Omg....amazing!!❤️
It is for sure!!
This makes me excited for my trip to NZ in a few months. Definitely looking forward to this hike! Thanks for sharing
You’re going to love it Alyssa!
Really loved this video! NZ is awesome and your commentary was really great - loved getting bits of info about the place. Also really appreciated how respectful you were of the area, good stuff my friend!
Thank you for the nice message Alana!! Glad you enjoyed the video
Love all these travel vlogs! Just got back from 3 months in Europe and I’m starting to document it on CZcams because it was amazing!! We actually visited Pompei and visited the ruins. Keep up the great work!
Cool! Thanks for watching Tim!
Woah that hike looks amazing! NZ is definitely on my bucket list now!
So worth it!!! Way too much to do down there
The longest hike I've done was ~13-miles.. the one you two just did was more strenuous and makes for a great memory/adventure! Well done! Definitely, a hearty meal and recuperating in a hot springs or even just a nice hot bath, is more than well deserved!
Amen!!!
Wow ! Great view and just beautiful hike guys ! Congrats !
Thanks for watching :)
Ah we did this hike a few years ago, such an amazing adventure! That end part though, the decent is much further than you think it is
Awww Carrie, so optimistic after being a bit mad about the sandwiches 😂😂
Oh I love this hike, best hike ever!
Definitely one of the best hikes ever
New subscriber here! Just found you recently and have been binge watching your videos starting with your 6 part series on Quebec my home province and thought you did an awesome job. It’s amazing how much you can learn about your own home town through a visitor’s eyes. Your videos are so well filmed, edited and informative and I love the relationship between you and Marko and now Carrie! I want to book a trip to each place you’ve visited after I’ve watched the video. This video was very interesting as New Zealand has been on the bucket list for a long time. I will look forward to many more wonderful videos!
Awww thank you Janet!!! Such a nice comment to read. Really appreciate your support. Thanks for joining the journey
Great vid, beautiful location. Glad you've emphasised the need to be prepared and respect the land. The weather on the crossing can change in a minute and go from sunny to snow so you do have to be prepared!
Got to be prepared and be respectful
Nature looks absolutely insane!!! Volcano views are extraterrestrial!!! Wow!!! Thank you guys for the video!
Thank you for watching!
I did this hike during my gap year 4 years ago, thank you for taking me back!! 😊
Awesome!!!
Love you guys, you make great content!
Cheers Frank!
Your video is really good I also started travel vlog. Watching your video I learned lots of this thanks 👍
Beautiful ... thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Okay this is reallyyyy making me want to go to NZ. Had no idea the terrain was so diverse. Thanks for sharing!
It is so beautiful. So worth visiting
Amazing video!! i would love going to New Zealand and that hike looks inpredible and something i want to do. :)
It’s the best for hiking!
Awesome 👏
Purple flowers will be heather - introduced from Scotland.
So pretty!
the slope with the rocks is my favorite bit bcz i just fully slid the whole way super fast
As a kiwi, it’s so special to see you being really respectful of the land and the culture around this national park :)
Thank you for sharing the culture and the history as well as the beauty :)
Also, I love your story telling and how you love our sacred land, Arohanui xx
Thank you!!! We have so much love for NZ
@@vagabrothers so pleased to here xox
I can confirm this is an epic walk!
Epic walk is confirmed :)
I completed the Tongariro crossing on Easter weekend and it was the busiest day with 4000 people. Although it was packed, we had perfect weather. It’s nice seeing what it’s like on a quieter day. 😊
Man that’s busy!!! Glad it wasn’t that crowded when we went
Suuuch a beautiful landscape! We are also here in New Zealand and traveled for 7 months with our van! 😍🙌🏻🚌 We missed this hike because of illness but we have to do this hike one time ☝🏻😍
7 month van trip in NZ sounds epic!!
Doing the crossing tomorrow 🥰
wow that view is incredible!
Glad you enjoyed
Such a cool feat I heard it’s one of the top 10 most visited one day walks in the world
Wow 😮 it’s incredible to think the landscape is in New Zealand 🇳🇿!! My wife is from there and we try to get down there at least once a year
Epic!!
I have lived in this country for more than 12 years now and I have yet to do this! After watching this video, I will get my whole family to do it soon! Can't wait for your debrief video and will put first item on the things to bring list now: sandwich it is! 😝 This is so awesome!
You gotta rally and go for it
Awesome you have come to NZ!! I have skied Ruapehu so many times, but never done the walk around. The purple flowers are a Heather, yes they are pretty.
The heather is so beautiful
@@vagabrothers I have to agree. Such a hardy plant to survive in those elements.
My husband and I did this hike in last November. We were waiting for this video since last week....
Awww so cool!!
Nicely filmed & great info. If you have time consider a side trip up to Mt Tongariro. Other interesting facts - Mt Ngauruhoe is Mt Tongariro's parasitic strata volcano and the Emerald Lakes are Craters too! Hiking boots, gaiters and hiking poles help heaps to negotiate the slippery slope towards the Emerald Lakes. The TAC is one of New Zealand's best day hikes, along with the Summit hike to Mt Ruapehu. NZ has some spectacular formatted multi-day hikes too. Ciao.
Thanks for sharing!!
It was probably my favourite day in New Zealand from the month I spent there. Definitely one of the best hikes I've ever done purely down to how much the scenery changes throughout - I've never seen anything like it. But I don't think it's as hard as he makes it out. While it is long, the landscape changes so much there are quite a few flat sections that break up the ascent. Compared to the other two longer hikes I did while I was there (Roy's Peak, and the Mueller Hut Hike), it was definitely the easiest.
Very beautiful place
Thanks for sharing
Greetings from india
Cheers!!
Great video, thanks for sharing! I read Mangatepopo car park is where the 19-km track begins. I assume it’s also where it ends. Or do you end up at a different spot & would need other means of transportation to return to the car park?
Awesome 👍👍
Thank you!
Nothing beautiful than your srilanka vlog..but this great and interesting so educated. ..
Amazing! I also want to visit New Zealand and climb its mountains)
It’s the best!! Thanks for watching!
5 seconds into the vid and I’m already hungry. Brb. Grabbing a snack
Thanks for the message of being prepared, the weather can change here in an instant and lots of people rip up their feet walking the crossing in jandals. Once I did the crossing in April and the weather was nice until we reached the top of the devils staircase and the platue where the visibility dropped to around 10m, the wind picked up and it began to sleet. We hid under a rock for shelter and got all our wet weather gear on then hightailed it back down the devils staircase to the carpark. Don't take any risks no matter how good you think you are, you'd be surprised how many call outs Land SAR gets from the crossing from unprepared trampers in over their head.
On man!! I can’t imagine doing that hike in jandals!!! Brutal!
Thats a big hike especially with a backpack and camera gear minus da sandwiches. Really nicely put together video. Were the lakes hot??
Tongariro is one of the best parts of the Te Araroa thru-hike.
The Te Araroa is on my bucket list. Planning to tackle it in a few years.
Need to go back and do a full Trek
@@vagabrothers the Te Araroa is an 1800 mile hike from Cape Reinga to Bluff. From the northernmost point in NZ to southernmost. It's daunting but also a once in a lifetime adventure.
I forgot the sandwiches - possibly the saddest sentence in existence
Sam Nelson truly 💔 haha
Hahaha
Converse? Reminded me of one wet May when I was canoeing backcountry in Algonquin Park, Canada. Watched as these young Asian students attempted to portage over rugged terrain wearing only flip flops. Ya, that's an awesome way to snap an ankle.🌝
Gotta protect those feet!!
Those purple flowers only bloom a 100 years once .u guys are blessed to see this .love from Australia 🇦🇺
I did this walk with my mum. Like a
couple of weeks ago it was really cool but very tiring.😊
Very tiring for sure!!
Hi guys, have been following your channel the last few years. Awesome to finally see you travel my own county!
Mt Ngauruhoe is pronounced Naa-eww-roo-hoe-ee
Lots of love, Jade , Auckland NZ
I‘ve done the crossing in 2012 and I‘ve done been hiking before that. It was hard but I survived and it was so worth it.
Definitely hard and definitely worth it
Use to go to Tongariro a fair bit when I use to live in Auckland and that was when one could stay at Ketetahi hut. Before it got damaged in 2012 from the Te Mari . Can remember seeing the odd person hear and there
Far too many amazing hikes in NZ. Cheers Damien
Looks so amazing! How long did it take you to walk the whole Tongariro crossing? thank you :)
It took us all day. Probably around 9 hrs but we were stopping a bit for filming
Lived in NZ for a little over a year. Trekked this beaut in the first month and it kicked my ass. Did it again about 10 months later and felt like I wanted to turn around at the end go back over! :) The trick was a fast descent (and probably the fog during the Devil's Stair that masked how much further you had to go so you didn't think about it!)
The descent was brutal!!! Haha
@@vagabrothers That super crazy first descent down the spine over all that scree and loose rock - I did an old FS descent trick (once there weren't many people on it).. I "skied" my way down. Takes about 2 minutes and its fun as hell, instead of laborious and tiring. :)
Hey could you please tell me how you attached your peak design camera holding thing to the shoulder strap of your backpack? Because if I am not wrong your shoulder strap is much too wide for this thing. I am asking because I have this problem with my hiking backpack.
Thanks in advance:) love your channel!!!
You deserved it mate. Enjoy your stay
Thanks Rob!
Love from karachi bros😍😍😍

Love from INDIA 💐💐

Hi Alex, the flowers are Lupins

Muellers hut has to come close !
Oxidization? It's a genius guide here today.
Hi, thanks for the video 🙂 Check Kamchatka - Russia. It's a volcanoes area in Russia. The views there are incredible. Like it's not on Earth 😉
Kamchatka is definitely on the bucket list
Love from India

Mt Doom!!
The ring of power!!!
Hi Alex, Mount Ngauruhoe is pronounced Nara-ho-ee cheers Patch :-)
Dear Carrie and Alex, I really wished I met you here in New Zealand
Next time!!
Come around Christmas time . It’s summer over here now
Also please bring Lanka with you 😘
The clumps of pink flowers are heather.
Yes! If you Google Tongariro heather, you'll find its sad story on a government website: "Originally planted by one of the early park wardens around 1910, heather was introduced to the area as a food source for pheasant and grouse which were to be introduced to Tongariro National Park as gamebirds. Public outrage stopped the birds' introduction in the park, although they were released in neighbouring areas. The birds did not survive the harsh climatic conditions of the Tongariro area, but unfortunately the heather did. It spread throughout the tussock country, smothering and pushing out the red tussock."
Greetings from 🇲🇽
Saludos!
there are so many beautiful shots in this video! for example 11:20 and 12:35 i would probably hang on a wall in my place! let me know if you have photographs like these in your shop :).
Thank you!! I’ll be updating my gallery soon. 🙌🏼
The pink flowers look like calluna or wild heather to me, as no close up difficult to tell.
Believe it was heather :)
Hi, when did you do this hike? I was hiking on 27 Apr (Sat) and the weather was so bad. There was no views 😂 Thanks for sharing this video =D
Aww bummer you got bad weather. We did it in mid March
would love to see New Zealand, but to get me on an airplane, good luck with that. you would have to drug me and knock me out lol
You’ll be fine!!!! :)
The flowers look like heather.
They are!
@@vagabrothers 😊😎
I love to travel with my boy friend we are planing to travel in an rv when we have enough money have you traveled in the states much USA
0:25 ...that girl looks hungry!
Hahaha
I did it once and started from opposite side. Then thought never again..lol
Hahaha it’s a hard one for sure!
volcano no food for Gf BRAVE lol quick judgement day judgment some food was brought of the hook
We still had food but no sandwiches
Where is marker..??
He’s not not joking he said
I once saw a lone guy hiking this in a full suit and dress shoes (no other gear or hydration). Just like he was walking home from the office or doing the walk of shame. Still think about it now..
I love the scenery but man, so many people on the trail 😶
Really depends on the day and season. Heaps of school kids come up there for day treks. I've been on it swarmed by kids, and nearly alone.
Nah roo a hoyee
Which camara you are using
It’s the Sony Alpha a7riii
So how is your experience different now when travelling compared to when you travelled with your brother for so many years...besides the obvious advantages of travelling with your gf haha
Love both ways. Very fun either way
Y oh Y ohY ohY did u forget the fffff n sandwich 🥪
Which is the nearest town to get an Airbnb?
Turangi is the nearest town. Also has hot springs for after the hike :)
Great, thanks for the info! Love your content! :)
