    Making the Tudor Black Bay in 39mm really transforms their 41mm versions of these watches....
    Hopefully Tudor comes out with another variation of the BB 58 at Basel this year...

    I feel like I can be a fairly harsh critic of some of your content, especially your podcasts but this new video format for reviews is superb. Much much better than your previous method. Great job guys!
    Also that last podcast with Lorier was excellent.

    I've had my BB58 for about four months now and I absolutely adore it. I hadn't noticed the extra resistance when rotating the bezel to it's origin before but you are right, cool!

    Great review of a stunning watch. You would think based on its success other brands would follow suit and start making dive watches in the 39mm to 40mm size range.

    The one everyone was waiting for! Loved the departure from the usual W&W review structure. Foregrounding and contextualizing the (deserved) hype behind the BB58 was a great way to segway into the various facets and features in more depth.

    Thanks for calling the Black Bay what it is, on the large side of medium. People tend to talk about it as if it is some behemoth that has no place on anyone's wrist. It is a chonky watch, but if you are happy with a slightly bolder size and aesthetic, it is in no way, shape, or form too large.
    I actually like the fact that it is unabashedly larger than a submariner, and think it fits the style that Tudor seems to be after, as well as sitting within the realms of modern trends in size, and hey, it's a dive watch, it's supposed to be big and brash.

    Great video! Your the only one I've seen that's actually mentioned the scale of the face from a 41mm down to a 39mm. I noticed the 41mm indices looked lost on there faces but on the 39mm version the actual face looks fuller with the indices having a greater presence around the dial. Keep up the great work and stay safe!

  • @khronokraze
    @khronokraze Před 5 lety +6

    This first black gilt version nice. But, I fully expect Tudor to expand the fifty-eight line to more colors. After all, it is still a Black Bay and they love to make more Black Bay colors. Maybe in baselworld 2019 next month we'll see a new color for the fifty-eight.
    I would much rather get this new proportioned watch over the previous Black Bay versions in 41mm. 41mm is not bad, but the ridiculous near 15mm thickness seems very unnecessary.

    Hey Zach, we need more educated horologist like you on CZcams. Great review. I have the 41mm BB and I love it. This version is a better all-around piece, but Tudor, for me, is on par with any other watchmaker out there. Question, any truth to the rumor that Tudor will bring back the OysterDate Submariner? If true, what will the proportions be?

  • @wiseguy724

  • @anthonyd6881

    My main concern with this watch is that there are only 3 micro adjustment holes, and no half links.
    I've had trouble finding the right adjustment on similar bracelets in the past - which would be a bit reservation for me with this watch.
    I wish tudor would drill more holes or offer a half link. Better yet, put a glidelock in it!

    I like this sized watch, but not the retro styling. I chose the outgoing cal. 2500 Omega SMPc at 41x47x13 for my only luxury diver. It’s a wonderful fit and value prop.
    The 58 is still a lovely piece.

  • @andywilliams4887
    @andywilliams4887 Před 2 lety

    I very recently bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue on the steel bracelet to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've owned for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear. Although not quite up there with the Rolex Sub in the absolute quality stakes - but why should it when barely 35% of the retail price - go to an AD and try one on. In-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve, staggering lume.... you won't be disappointed.

  • @ricchrono5907
    @ricchrono5907 Před 5 lety

    excellent spot on review and it helped people oversee the influence of brand marketing, but to focus on the quality of the watch itself.
    big fan of this case design, have always been disliking the new and newer rolex cases as they beefed them so badly making their watches lost the sense of elegance, in particular the thinner lugs, simply fantastic.
    one thing I dont like about Tudor is their brand logo, somehow the shield just doesnt go for me. I much prefer they retain their heritage rose logo. but that's about it.

    a great looking watch. i might as well say it: rolex has made a mistake by not introducing a similar dimensions dive watch. i think people are hungering for watches that are easier to wear, and fit more wrists. i have a large wrist. but these huge watches, to me, are less elegant, less handsome on the wrist, and far from "right" for a large wrist -- make you look a bit comical.
