This video was originally produced on VHS by D.R.Productions, Sydney, NSW, Australia.
I have posted it it up here as the event is now some 23 years past, I converted the analogue VHS video to digital to preserve it and I thought it would be of public interest so have uploaded it here.
More time on the track than in the air! I like the flatter tracks from back in the day. And more dirt and slide than grip.. thats cool. Masami.. so good to watch, just fast enough everywhere.. I wish the footage was HD, see the details of the skills! reminds me of Loeb in rally.. never too fast always the right speed to be perfect! I was there for the 4wd final.. 9 year old kid, never been to a race before, was blown away.. Thanks for uploading
off road today for 1:10 scale is not like the old times when off road meant dirt ruts and dust, carpet/ sealed dirt to the point its concrete its to surgical clean for off road.
astro is where i draw the line for when its proper off road but carpet and glued dirt/ clay not so much, almost better to just pave a track with the bumps included and call it a rugh touring car track.
I was 11.... and had read about this world from a local rc model magazine!!From the photos I'm impressed by the two trees that were in the track!!!!!

every legend run there,kyosho ultima,assocoated rc10,tamiya avante i think,aand the one og the only 3 nikko pro kit,the super sprinter,it was also the dandy dash and teh brat which was a mix of the two,byt t can not see it in the video. nikko was in the ifmar but i do not know if it was not in the finals....
Brat made it too the quarter finals and so did the Egress...🇦🇺👍👍.I grew up in northern beaches and was at this at 11 yrs old.. CLASSIC 😆👍

The GOLDEN age of rc racing. Rc racing was never again as good as this since. Today it’s so bad.
For the Love of god, just quit with the dumb background music! The sound of the car is running on dirt and the announcer are sufficient!
The edit was done in the 80s. Everything had dumb background music!
Oh but that awful guitar playing backed with a really bad drum machine and synth 🤮
Not all the music from the 80's was great lol.
